Initial thoughts are WOW, I’m still getting to grips with the controls but flying is great and I think good choice of weapon is going to seperate the men from the boys!!

Sony’s communication with punters is not getting any better. No word on piyotama, cash money chaos, puzzle fighter or poker. They were all supposed to be out by now. Why hasn’t there been an official “This is what will be released today” statement?

So where are all these demos they are reported to be sitting on.

Lair for instance, do they play to release it after the game is released to avoid the fact going of some review people won’t buy the game.

Also could we get a real reason why it was delayed 2 days and why the retail version is not out for another 3 weeks while the US one is out.

Haven’t bought it yet, it wasn’t up before I went to work, but can’t wait to get home to DL it. Probs won’t have time to play it but at least I can say I have it!! I’m hearing rumbles that the freezing issues that were supposedly fixed during BETA testing is still present in the commercial release, can anyone confirm this? Remember, keep watching the skiis… Uh, skies!

So blast factor advanced research is STILL MISSING 4weeks after the American release and we are getting no update today oh great. i dont want warhawk so i get nothing.no ps1 games no demos no nothing. another let down from sony week after week nothing but disapointment and let downs week after week after week nothing to spend my money on Where is all the stuff why dont you even care.

Yeah, but its fact that Sony has already some demos like Skate, that has already been rated by the german USK (an equivalent to the ESRB) about a month ago.

The only Sony that seems to “suck” is the European branch. The others stores arent doing too badly in the update front. The U.S has had a nice new wallpaper section added and had Warhawk a few days earlier than here. They also have a nice offering of original games and psone titles. The JAP store got a new Ninja Gaiden Sigma pack plus oodles more PSOne Titles and also got Folklore packs too. So what is going on in the UK why so many holdups? Its about time Sony got their act together. I know the NTSC to PAL is a problem but a good deal of people are also using HDMI so shouldn’t this be reflected on the online information then people could make the decision themselves whether they want a SD or HD release of a download? This trickling method of content delivery is something I would expect from Nintendo!

FIFA 08 demo was planned to release this week, but got shafted to next week.

can someone tell me how to save your settings on warhawk

this morning i had to toggle about with the screen settings as i couldnt read what it said on the left
i customised my character and warhawk
i set favourite servers in the favourites column
i turned the hints off and adjusted the controls for flying the warhawk

but i have just switched it back on and everything has gone back to how it was…further more i cannot find where to save the settings…surely it must be somewhere,right?

and for the love of god,could they not find another place to put the voice button….L3 button being the analogue we are using to fly the plane…is not practical

@27: You’ve first got to register your headset with PS3. Go to the XMB system, then accessory settings (or similar) you’ll have the opportunity to register a device. Set it going and it should find your headset. There’s a little meter that measures the sound input, so you can check everything alright before you start playing. If you’ve done all that already, just press L3 in-game to speak your mind.

@30: I agree that its SCEE that repeatedly appears to be dragging its feet. Some of the points you mention over the disparity between Europe and Japanese stores, is best explained with the changes that Kaz Hirai has made since his new appointment. He’s given region heads far greater freedom to judge trends and act accordingly, rather than having SCEI pulling every string. I think in the end a very worthwhile change as it means far more rapid local reaction where things are found to need changing.

While I think that some of you are a bit too hard on Sony (why the childish namecalling?) I also am tired of Europe always getting stuff last (and least). There is absolutely no reason for the US to get the Dirt demo and not us! I think one of the problems is the parts of Europe that need their games translated (I’m looking at you Germany, France, Italy and Spain) which of course takes extra time. Why can’t you release english versions for the parts of Europe that knows english. One english version and then a “continental” version once the translation is finished. As a swede who’ve studied english for years I often prefer to import my games from the US instead of sitting around waiting for the european translators to finish their job. Please SCEE stop treating your european customers like second class citizens we want our PSN Store as brimful as the japanese one!!

PSN is rough, have had my PS3 from launch now, and the demo’s and lack of free trials to some of the online games is poor. xboxlive is vastly superior.

Keep considering selling the PS3 but will lose too much money and keep hopein something good might come out

First impressions of warhawk are:

Complicated controlls.. the wepson switching is very hard for me when i want to switch to something instantly.. maybe there is a way i dont know!

Good maps! Look well thought out and balanced i guess.

I think i need to just keep playing to get hang of the controlls more

Sort it out Sony, 360 are lowering their prices this week and the Elite is looking ever more tempting now. You guys ruled the PS1 generation and you did pretty good on the PS2 but you’ve really gone to the dogs now I’m affraid… and people will punnish you for that when they go to the shops.

Why AGAIN did Europeans get shafed.

No Warhawk beta
2 day delay in launch
no midnight launch.

That’s just Warhawk, pretty much every other aspect of PS3 ownership, Europeans get the raw deal. The PlayTV announcement is only because the US is notready for digital transmissions yet, if they were, they would have had it first.

Not overly happy with the delay and everything, or lack of good updates for the store.

But I’m grateful the wait is over for Warhawk, played it for a bit before work and loved it! Reviews and people say the controls are difficult but I don’t see any problem with ‘em, picked them up straight away. Only concern with it is lack of ranked matches (looking at the hosts here…) and a glitch that happened when playing split-screen online (could pick up any weapons or health).

Other than that, great game Incognito and thanks to Sony for FINALLY releasing it. But next time an international release is announced can you please stick to it guys? Screw when updates are usually done, I mean we got the Folklore demo before the usual update didn’t we?

the game is pretty buggy… i downloaded it for the North American store on tuesday night… it freezes my PS3 up alot… hard to get into any games… it doesnt keep track of my stats…. i start off as a recruit every time.. it is worst then the BETA… not worth the money untill they sort this shit out.

IS it because Europe got a gimped PS3 with the emotion engine chip removed (which saved Sony £8.00 yet overcharged Europe by £125 for a gimped version) that we dont get any ps1 classics? like the Japanese do -they got another 14 today added to their store.

Just had a quick play with the game on a local server (just me) to get used to it. This game seems like it will be a blast when playing with 31 other players!

The controls take a bit of getting used to, and I needed to fine tune some of the settings, but this has the potential to become a classic game that will still be filling servers in years to come. The motion sensing works an absolute treat!

Speaking of, one thing I would like to point out especially, as it’s something I think should be an option on EVERY PS3 game that uses motion is being able to choose your own tilt neutrality. Given that I naturally have my controller tilted up for comfort so it’s great to be able to set that as the point where the plane flys straight. I have noticed on one of two other motion features that you have to hold the controller at a very uncomfortable angle to do that.

I agree that Sony is letting us down with it’s store content, but I would also assume that most people can just as easily create American accounts, and download demos from the US store freely. Aside from Def Jam:Icon, I have had no trouble getting any of the demos from ther, Japan, or Hong Kong. People say the world is becoming a smaller place, and call us a global community. I guess this is proof - just grab what you want from whichever store has it. As I type this, my PS3 is busy downloading the Nascar demo, Heavenly Sword anime number 4, the Super Puzzle Fighter demo, and the Tiger Woods demo. (Well, I need something to do while I wait for the BD version of Warhawk!)

are we all forgetting sonys “we delayed warhawk so we could do it with our regular store update” what store update? warhawk is the only new thing up! so they didnt just add it to the update it was the update so why the delay??? and i agree with 49 the game is a bit buggy - i’m only here ‘cos it crashed my ps3 but my stats do seem to be being tracked(@49 are you sure the servers your playing on are ranked? its the odd symbol on the far left of the server list - look at a scee server to see what i mean)

Threespeech, can you get an update from SCEE on why we’re being left in the dark when it comes to content?

I know I could create an American account but you know what, thats not what consoles are about. The damn thing should just work! We aren’t even getting an explanation, just silence and it looks like they don’t care about their customers here.

I can see this being a trend for the future unless this gets sorted now and Sony you’ll only lose customers to Xbox that way!

Sony is funny. They talk about this reglar update thing on thursday, yet, can anyone tell me why America got theirs on Aug. 28 still. We had to wait for this “update” that is practically nothing except for Warhawk. I used to side the people that said customers should give Sony time, but now it’s really getting ridiculous. Other PSN stores get all this cool stuff, and we get only warhawk(late too) , and before that some Leipzig trailers. Also, why is folklore a timed demo???(just asking out of curiousity) Sony aren’t really putting much effort and they’ve been in the console buisness long before microsoft. Frustrating. Warhawk looks good though.

i have and i get the best of bost worlds…(there were 2 folksoul demos-jap/usa-and both different)

considering warhawk is built for online only,why does it have options have fewer than RSV? theres no invite buddy?(unless they are in a game an you join em) no IM? NONE! lobby or not?the lack of any form of online manual in game is a pain! tried it last night, and for the life of me couldnt figue how to play split screen (i must admit i didnt try to switch on controller 2) doh!
just a few niggles…but it is cool tho

Sure, I have an US and Jap account to get my content from. But these workarounds shouldn’t be necessary in the first place! SCEE should really rethink their store policy, because it’s ridiculous the way things are going right now. I understand that SCE is new to the whole store thing, and we should give them a chance to figure things out. But apparently, it’s just SCEE who isn’t delivering. It seems that SCEA and SCEJ are doing a better job delivering content to their stores. Just giving my share of input here, because they are listening to the community I hope we can achieve something with our comments.

Agree with 64 - Warhawk needs a decent lobby system. Without it, playing online seems very sterile…
This is even more important if you are playing with friends, you need a better lobby for discussing what type of game to play next, etc… RFoM got that bit spot on, Warhawk needs something like that.
The manual mentions map packs, so it looks like future downloads are already planned for Warhawk, so hopefully they’ll upgrade some of these features at the same time…

PS What happened to the hundreds of official Sony PS3 servers that we saw photos of the other week? I only saw about 10 blue Sony servers last night, and they were always full…
If that’s the only way of getting into a large sized game (because we are all limited by our upload speed when hosting), there’s going to be a long queue!

For those of you who share your PS3 with a brother/sister/partner, and have downloaded the PSN version, you’re probably a little miffed that the game is locked to a single account for 24 hours…

However there is an easy fix that Sony could easily sort out:

Change the usage limit so that the copy of the game can be played on any account on a PS3 per 24 hour period, _instead of_ just one account per 24 hour period (that allows anyone on one machine to play the game when they want so long as they don’t load it on any other machine).

I tell you another idea for a petition. How about telling us what the network restrictions are BEFORE we buy the game!

Just found out (through a forum) that a standard ADSL connection will only support 4 players when hosting. Not quite the up to 24 players freely bounded about on a non-dedicated server.

I understand peer to peer stuff. I understand server based gaming. What I don’t understand is why the fuck why we don’t get informed of any network restrictions so we can make an informed decision before we make a purchase.

I’m getting a little fucked off with games packaging touting xx number of players and no mention of any restrictions. GRAW2 is another case point.

Sony needs to get it’s head out of it’s arse and realise that not everyone has an upload anywhere near what’s required for the game.

Now you know why your dedicated servers are being swamped!

I’m having problems with warhawk!
My name is Sheridans on psn. In warhawk I don’t have a recruiting date. Also it does not register my scores medals, etc. etc. I have bin promoted to soldier three times already. The only stats in my profile are from the first hour of play. Pleasssssse fix this!!!!!!

@ 65 - The manual is available for download from the WarHawk website, but you’ve probably figured most of it out for yourself already anyway…

Awesome game, slowly getting to grips with it but enjoying every minute.

Ok. This is frustrating the hell out of me.

I adore this game… finally getting to grips with the controls, the weapons, and having a ball.

But it takes SO LONG to find a decent game. And I’ve been in about 5 different rooms tonight, and Network errors have thrown me out of every single match, just as they were getting interesting. On one occasion, I was totally signed out of PSN.

(I’ve played marathon sessions of other games before, I know it isn’t my Internet)

It’s ridiculous, I would nigh on declare the game ‘broken’.

And it’s also frustrating to see other PSN friends playing, and when you go to join them, the room is full. Now, I know this is likely to happen from time to time, but it’s not like I can even open my own room, and ‘invite them round’ to it, what with the stupid lack of invites.

Yeah, this over paranoid DRM is the games biggest failing IMO.
If you want to promote online downloads, stopping my wife playing the game is NOT the way to do it. Restrict to one master and it’s sub accounts on a single piece of hardware is the way forward. ATM I just feel like I’ve been cheated….and the T&C’s are just ambiguous enough to catch you out too.

I was really looking forward to sampling the online download revolution….but it’s left a source taste unfortunately.

I’ve been loving the game up till now, it seems i cant get into official games, weather theres 1 person in the room, or 20, it just wont let me in, i even have trouble joining my friends games, i still dont know if its my net, i have crappy 2mb line from virgin, does anyone else suffer from this?

Also, today, well about 20 mins ago, i also got kicked off big time, and when i try to log back in, it freezes on the policies page, then i have to switch my ps3 off at the mains cos it gets all stuck, so far not good….

Holy crap, give me some servers to play on SCEE!!. Complete pain in the arse trying to get into a game and it seems the number of players is not properly being updated - always seem to be full even when ther’re clearly spaces listed.

I can’t believe I paid nearly £20 for a game that wont let me use the online feature because the network wont let me logon, wasted an hour this evening trying to get online. If you can tell how many people have purchased the game then surely you are required to provide enough access so they can get on. More servers required ASAP

At the end of the day Sony, i’d rather pay £40 subscription fee and be able to get into a game easily (maybe even with friends) than pay no fees but waster 40 minutes trying to log onto the god forsaken network that warhawk utilises. Any ideas if its something that’s patchable or is it something where they just thought “but if we spend money on sorting it out, we wont be able to provide the PS3’s for cheaper in the US and Japan”. Considering I remember an article with an interview with one of SCE top bods claiming that PSN would rival XBL, it couldn’t be further from the truth. And no, a 3d avatar system just doesn’t cut it. Microsoft had this basic stuff sorted years ago.
