A new LittleBigPlanet video was shown last night at the Spike TV Video Game Awards. It shows a brand new level featuring a pirate ship with a sackboy dressed as a mermaid and, of course, a pirate! Talking to a few industry insiders, this game is going to be very, very impressive.

Jesus Christ!!! Don’t scare me like that ever again. I just read the headline and nearly went into cardiac arrest.
Comment by Justin Bailey — Dec 10, 2007 @ 1:01 pm
Looks really cool. Did anyone else notice the character with the Blonde hair, as they were sailing down the slope, had a look of, “Oh my god, I’m going to be sick” on there face, with sort of a downturn on the smile as it were?

Where is the GamePlay ?
Please, do not the same thing as Heavenly Sword.
We don’t care about design or graphics if there is not gameplay.

Its all gameplay, thats the way the game works. Haven’t you seen the previous videos?

I welcome our LittleBigPlanet overlords. Though I’d like more details about how many levels it will ship with, estimated cost on launch, how the sharing of levels will actually work, in multi-player how many sack can interact at one time. That sort of thing.
Actually could TS organise another Q&A with the Media Molecule team?
PS. The UK developers are really coming out with some great games. I also noticed that quite a few key team members on American teams are English as well. I know teams now are made up of people from all over the world, but it would be interesting to know what each team is made up of.
Comment by Savage — Dec 10, 2007 @ 1:43 pm
I’m reserving judgement on this one, because savage is right, what is it we will be getting exactly, or even roughly?
Comment by Mr Jimmy — Dec 10, 2007 @ 1:49 pm
We will be getting the chance to create little big fuzzy felt characters..which can use and abuse little big fuzzy objects..which can create a little big fuzzy felt world.
Otherwise known as LittleBigPlanet - in a nutshell.

This does indeed look good, but I have to wonder; am I really going to be bothered enough? You see, I’m a bloody lazy person. So I’m not going to be spending time doing anything. And that means this pretty much doesn’t it? Oh dear. Give me instant gratification please. Now, if you could link this engine into a mind reading headband, enabling the creating of my ideas without having to wait; yeah, that’d be the ticket. Get on with that please Sony!
Comment by LordOfRuin — Dec 10, 2007 @ 3:04 pm
I wonder how complicated it is to make those waves move in circle’s. I’m also curious about how easy it would be to make that tank move from previous trailers.

The music is by The Go! Team, check them out, they’re cool
Comment by Trevor — Dec 10, 2007 @ 6:05 pm
would be more impressed if it was on a disc in my ps3 giving me the hours of happy!
i know it’s TS’s job to hype this but can we just have some FACTS instead of what really is more drip fed eye candy.

[…] I’m looking forward to Little Big Planet just as much as anyone, but is this commercial played during the Spike TV Video Game Awards really a good idea? Unless you’re already very familiar with the game’s concept, this is white noise. To the Spike TV audience that skews heavily towards FPS, racing, and sports you’d need a lot better explanation to catch their attention. The game itself looks fantastic, but there’s no denying it’s going to be a hard sell … and this isn’t an encouraging start. […]

I love the fact they use the go team for the trailers. they both match perfectly
Comment by lj — Dec 10, 2007 @ 7:26 pm
I have not seen all the videos I must confess but of the ones I have seen are there any enemies to deal with. I think the concept is fantastic but surely they will feel empty without interactive foes and hopefully imaginative physics based boss characters.
Comment by Sammy — Dec 10, 2007 @ 7:32 pm
Absolutely billiant, watched all the other videos but it just keeps on getting better. I wonder what the reviews will be like, because the game is only as good as you make it to be.
Comment by Belfastian — Dec 10, 2007 @ 8:16 pm
Brought a huge smile to my face. Wonderful!

“Talking to a few industry insiders, this game is going to be very, very impressive.”
Hey guys! I hope these are serious impressions though.
I hope there’s alot we haven’t seen yet, I mean there was a rumor about enemies, I hope to see some of that
. Also another rumor about BIG NAMES in the game industry making levels for the game
!
Comment by rukusa — Dec 10, 2007 @ 10:25 pm
It does look very good but I’m struggling to see what the point is in this game. Pirate ship looks cool but what do you actually do?
Comment by Bry — Dec 10, 2007 @ 10:50 pm
My most anticipated game of 2008. I honestly am finding it difficult to understand why I’m so interested in this game, but it’s diffinitely appealing to me.

This song just makes me happy everytime I hear it and I think a lot of that is to do with it reminding me of the smiley little sack dude and this facking awesome game!
Comment by Tim — Dec 11, 2007 @ 2:36 pm
The ad looks fantastic and suits the game brilliantly by showing that craft and design style!
The graphics are great, I love the promo music, I love the concept. I hope there is some really solid gameplay as well.
I cant wait much longer!

[…] Also, LittleBigWorld movie. I was so magically absorbed by the cuteness of this game that I looked for GDC demos part 1 and part 2 so I could see more of it. I’m enchanted by this game. I want it so bad. It looks like a wonderful, mindless waste of time. […]

It looks pretty, but I don’t understand what the point is.
I understand that you build a level with some obstacles in it and share it with other people… then what?
Can you set a start and finish? Can you make it a timed race? Can you put enemy characters in it? Or do you just muck about for a bit until you get bored?
If this really is no more than a “wonderful, mindless waste of time”, it’s only going to appeal to those with lots of time to waste… which leaves me right out.
Comment by Mothra — Dec 11, 2007 @ 8:56 pm
Agreed, I would like to see some actual enemies soon, and also some different game modes, than just “create. play. share.”
But it looks great, and I’m going to create a whole bunch of sack boys… An emo-one, when I’m in a bad mood. A pimp-one, when I’m in a good one. And a nerd-one, when I’m just living my wonderfully nerdy life =P
Comment by guitain — Dec 11, 2007 @ 10:12 pm
By the way (sorry for double post), it looks like it says “Little Rig Planet” at the beginning =)
Looking forward to steal another level, and then write my name on it and claim it as my own, and show off in front of my friends xD
