Ubisoft has unveiled the latest instalment of its Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series, Rainbow Six Vegas 2. It’s pinned down for a March 2008 release with more co-operative and tactical options, more extensive online play and a brush up on the graphics too. The sequel is being developed by the same team that handled the previous instalment, the Ubisoft Montreal studio.
Rainbow Six Vegas received positive reviews on its launch earlier this year, with a Metacritic score of 86. Its realistic graphics, extensive online mode and intuitive cover system were just a few of the much touted points.
“Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas took the gaming world by storm in 2006 thanks to its technological advances and gameplay innovations,” said Yves Guillemot, president and chief executive officer at Ubisoft. “We are convinced that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will remain a pioneer in the highly competitive first person shooter genre, bringing more of what Rainbow Six fans love to the table.”

Ubisoft Antes Up With Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Vegas 2
Team Rainbow Returns to Celebrate10th Anniversary of Rainbow Six Franchise in Sin City in 2008
London, UK — November 20, 2007 — Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it is developing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Vegas 2 for next-generation consoles and PC. Developed at Ubisoft Montreal by the same team that created the award-winning Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, the highly anticipated sequel is scheduled for a March 2008 release. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is the sixth iteration in the wildly successful Rainbow Six franchise which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2008 with more than 16 million units sold worldwide to date.
The highly anticipated sequel to the winner of numerous awards, including IGN’s 2006 Best First Person Shooter and Best Online Game, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will push the franchise to new heights by adding new gameplay features and even more stunning visuals. Players will encounter an intense solo campaign that uses new tactical possibilities in various locations around Sin City. As expected with one of the pioneer franchises for online multiplayer Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will also break new ground in both co-op and adversarial modes, while providing unprecedented interaction between the solo and multiplayer modes.

As a person who loves Vegas on the 360, but also one owning a PS3 I would consider it an act of kindness if Ubisoft could make the PS3 version NOT SHIT this time.
KISSES!

@ John - wasn’t there some kind of cliffhanger on top of the dam?
Can’t remember the exact story, I just remember it finishing, while thinking “is that it?”…

The PS3 version of R6V1 was acceptable, but nailerr does have a point. It was not up to par with the 360 version… but isn’t that what we expect from Ubisoft at this point?
The Splinter Cell games were always piss poor ports on PS2 and now on PS3, R6V was notably inferior, Assassin’s Creed has problems and GRAW2 (while the closest they’ve come) still wasn’t quite where the 360 version was.
If they’re going to pull me away from Killzone 2 and Warhawk, they’re going to need to make me a good game. If it doesn’t look as good and run as well as the 360 version, I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

the first one was great. cant wait 4 this!

Yep, to two things there.
Was a cliffhanger and I rather expected the game to continue as a large DLC which I would of happily spent the money on.
Secondly now Warhawk and Call of Duty 4 have set a decent bar for PS3 online anything less should be rejected, and to be honest I would hope there are better things to come with UT3 and beyond. Resistance - a launch title - had a fantastic online set-up and you’d hope other developers would aspire to be at least AS good.

Things for Ubisoft to do……
Fix the bugs, release patches, create a decent lobby system.
Or you could just ignore the PS3 version and continue your extreemly efficient bug fixing on the 360 version instead.

Yeah but going through casino after casino got boring after a while, why can’t they get away from Vegas and do multiple locations to keep it interesting. Plus the ending was crap tooo….

This has the potential to be a great game, they have a lot of work to do though!

Also, there are a lot of great games on the horizon now, they will have to make something special not dish out more of the same and as peopel have said the 360 was a lot better.
Unrelated, but has anyone else noticed any improvement with Assassins Creed after the new firmware, i’ve not downloaded it yet, but i’m getting annoyed with it crashing on me.

Cant wait for this, still loving R6V at the minute. Couple of things they realy need to change though are:
like the 360 version you can search for a room you want to join, this is the stupidest thing iv ever come across in an online game, I swear it took me over an hour before to find a decent room to play in and secondly you should be able to go straight into your friends room instead of waitin for an invite, jesus christ they wouldnt add you as a friend if they didnt want to play with you.
im 820 in the world now so maybe ill hit the top 10 by the time this is released lol XD

Let’s hope they do a better job next time with the PS3 version.
