Gaming site palgn have had a chance to get their hands on WipEout HD, the HD update of one of the PlayStation’s coolest racing games. The game looks beautiful, with crisp high-resolution graphics and many cool effects happening on screen. Check the article here.
Also the WipEout HD Official Site launched recently. Take a look.

Gonna be a dark room, with Pink Floyd and incense sticks playing when I get hold of this game…

threespeech, any news you can sniff out on the soundtrack would be most appreciated.

Dojo - prob a case of hawkwind, wishbone ash and jethro tull if I have anything to say about it! - with a game as fast and colourful as this one you need laid back flutey and psychotropic tunes

To really appreciate the WipeOut series, you need a decent projector that can display a picture on your wall of no less than about 90″.
I’ve got the PS2 version and it rocks. Who needs HD!

@2 - Will do my best. Would love to know too.
Comment by Three Speech — Nov 19, 2007 @ 6:04 pm
any news when this is out? i’d be mighty miffed if the states get this before us in europe, seeing as it’s been developed over here. but alas that’s probably what will happen.

As long as Wipeout stays with Sony and doesnt defect to the dark side I’ll always be a Sony fan. Can’t wait for this!

As for the website, errrrr, theres nothign there… Has anyone ever told these web developers there is nothing worse than a site “under construction”…
Comment by Terry — Nov 19, 2007 @ 6:24 pm

That article says Wipeout HD is still due by the end of the year. Hope that’s true ;D
Comment by uberleet — Nov 19, 2007 @ 9:46 pm
Wipeout will definatly have a place in my game collection. The sooner its released the better.
Comment by Topdon — Nov 19, 2007 @ 9:55 pm
I wont be getting this. Its by Studio Liverpool the worst Sony internal games studio any where in the world. They were VERY lazy with the F1 games. If you are a fan of F1 you’ll see why F1 CE is so disappointing.

ThreeSpeech guys, you get a 404 when clicking on the image for a larger version (url https://threespeech.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/wipeout2.jpg)
Comment by pip — Nov 20, 2007 @ 9:19 am
@12
Yeah I got a 404, just try it again it seemed to work for me then…
@11
Making Formula 1 interesting is like making a game about watching paint dry interesting. Wipeout is a whole different ball park, the only weak Wipeout was Fusion… largely I think to the DR not being onboard, I hope they bring them back. When will we know what soundtrack will be gracing the game, we need the likes of Chemical Brothers, Cold Storage or Sasha back!
Comment by Terry — Nov 20, 2007 @ 9:47 am
… I don’t mean to upset any F1 fans there by the way :p
Comment by Terry — Nov 20, 2007 @ 9:47 am
@12 sorry your are right… the link is broken, tried messing with the link to see if it were a typo and got some retro wipeout…

Looking forward to this even more now that I’ve just got my shiny new 1080p tv. Loved Pure on the PSP but can’t wait to see it at full size again.
Comment by Dan (PSN-Detale) — Nov 20, 2007 @ 12:09 pm
Terry your point is vaild I’m certain that non-F1 fans wont think YES lets buy an F1 game. If you ARE an F1 fan why is the game so casual? F1 CE is the PS2 F106 just with better graphics.
Who cares though, Studio Liverpool wont be making F1 games anymore. Sony’s exclusivity deal is gone. I’d love to see multi-platform and multi genre F1 games.
On the subject of wipe out thought the Ps2 Wipeout pure was fun with 2 players but I disliked Single player. For fans sake I just hope the controls are six-axis only for this Wipeout PS3 title.

Bring on the mind bending racing, eye bleeding gfx, ear pounding tunes
)))))))))))
Comment by DaveTheRave — Nov 20, 2007 @ 2:52 pm
Sony - ever let this baby go to Microsoft and you’ll lose!
Comment by Terry — Nov 20, 2007 @ 4:23 pm
Does anyone know a track list yet? Can anyone remember the name of the track from Wipeout 3 that was set around a dockland area, I could get round that baby on the Phantom class without crashing - I really want to see it in HD!!
Comment by Terry — Nov 20, 2007 @ 4:25 pm
The reason I bought my very first console was 2097 and now the reason I’m getting my full hd viera early is hd. Question: will it still come this year?
Comment by Maya — Nov 20, 2007 @ 5:49 pm
plz no god awful ‘air brake’ controls on this version, that just spoils what could be a great game. a six-axis control would work well IF it responds quickly enough.
*tries not to think about attempting to drive in that toy home demo*
Comment by mobiletone — Nov 20, 2007 @ 7:23 pm
Think I’ve put my fair share of Wipeout posts here, but one more… Is Wip3out on the release list anywhere for the PSN, some will disagree but I found it one of my favourite wipeouts…
Some people have said make it sixaxis only… make it an option but dont alientate people who don’t want to use it.
Comment by Terry — Nov 21, 2007 @ 9:25 am
“WIPEOUT HD: LOOKING FANTASTIC”
And so does the Blacksite: Area 51 demo for both X360 and PC, with no sign of the PS3 version anywhere!

Silly me, just noticed, it’s (not) brought to you by the same guys who’ve just delayed UT3 for the PS3…
