More news on the SingStar front. The PS3 version will come with exclusive next gen online features, including the option to play whilst downloading new tracks and the abililty to upload your performances to be rated by the waiting world - rate others, view the highest rated and build your own profile. (Could this be a new A&R source for the music industry?)
The SingStore comes with 44 songs at launch, including some SingStar PS2 titles (so you know, SingStar shipped over ten million copies for the PS2), as well as brand new tracks. New music includes tracks from the Manic Street Preachers, Zutons and Depeche Mode with existing titles from the likes of Gwen Stefani, OutKast, Coldplay, Pussycat Dolls and Razorlight also available.
The store will grow rapidly, with updates happening regularly, starting on December 17, with the aim of having in excess of 350 songs available to download over the coming months. The PS3 version will also come with a sleek new look, new voice effects and wallpapers.

November 2007: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) will release SingStar® for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) on Blu-ray disc on 7th December 2007 at a recommended retail price (RRP) of £24.99 or in a pack with two microphones at an RRP of just £49.99.
As well as having all the great features of previous SingStar games, SingStar on PS3 will come packed with exclusive next generation online features that give you more choice and more music - as well as the chance to be an online star and share your performances with the world.

But (the silence continues…) will the ps2 discs offer any kind of a discount/download/compatibilty? I really want to get ps3 singstar but there’s little point if I have to buy ALL those tracks again… might as well stick with the disks I’ve got…

I don’t need to be drunk to look like an idiot on Singstar - but then I look like that regardless
Must say though in recent years the interactive games - singstar/buzz/guitar hero have really made gaming alot easier, especially when you don’t have as many hours in the day to carry it out.

Thats also my first question. Are the mic´s wireless? If they aren´t, its not interesting for me. I bought nearly 300 songs for the PS2 version and now i have 30 on a BluRay and 40 in the store. haha. thats a joke. After one year of delay i can´t understand this. There schould be a possibilty to copy the songs from the ps2 versions to my ps3 version. Otherwise i do pay a second time for the same song. Thats a no go. And wired mic´s after one year delay isn´t next gen. So i will wait and my PS2 will stay until i have the real next gen feeling.

I heard long ago that you wouldn’t be able to upload the songs you’ve already bought on the PS2. This could have changed obviously.

Why not just buy the ps3 version without mics (currently £16.98!! at Amazon) and use the old mics until the wireless ones arrive?

So the wired question is sorted… for now. But I don’t see what the big deal is, most of my experience of people playing singstar is pretty close to the TV, and many people swing the wire about anyway! The big question is still how compatible the old ps2 discs are… Theirin lies the potential rip-off…

The PS2 game is one of the reasons I haven’t bothered buying any PS2 Singstar since hearing about the PS3 version.
It would be nice if they actually give some sort of discount for those that already have bought the PS2 versions, but then you could just give the discs to someone else and they would all be able to get the downloads for a lot less.
If you can use the old songs in some way with the new Singstar, then that would be a good idea, but I can’t see Sony allowing people to use there old PS2 versions as discounts against new songs, unless of course people had to send there discs into Sony, to enable them to get rebates on the new songs, which would actually make sense, because then you couldn’t just give the discs to other people.
Or, you could just sell all your old collection of PS2 Singstar and put the money towards the new versions. In which case, it would be almost like getting a discount off the new versions, if you get at least half of what you paid for the PS2 versions.
It’s like all games. I mean, if someone had all the old R&C games, does that mean they should get the new PS3 R&C for a discount??

Slightly, well completely, off-topic..
But is anyone else having some serious issues with remote play?
If I leave remote start on (which I obviously intend to) my PS3 keeps turning itself on! Literally every 1-2 minutes..
Don’t get me wrong, when in control through my PSP it works a treat, very impressed. But I can’t trust leaving remote start on during the day as the PS3 keeps going bonkers!
Anyone else having the same issues? ThreeSpeech?
