A new Unreal Tournament 3 trailer is making its way across the internet boasting not only impressive and intense looking graphics but more importantly, the basis of the storyline. Previously, single player Unreal Tournament had no storyline and it was the advanced multiplayer levels and game types holding up the game. Times they are a changin’.
Here’s the trailer courtesy of IGN.

Trailers like that make the delay even more painfull

I don’t mind the delay if when it does come out it looks and plays like a no holds barred AAA title. I hope Sony have helped them optimise that Unreal Engine like no other. The reason being this engine is licensed by quite a few companies, so if UT3 is average on the PS3, no one will want to use it for games on the PS3, and that will be a huge blow to Sony in the long term. So go ahead delay it, but make it super sweet when it does come out.

This is a “new” trailer right?
Why does it say “November 2007″ then?
I thought it was delayed..

PS. What a boring trailer. Revenge this, revenge that. We are good, they are evil. The game industry needs to to lift bar on story telling above teenage boy fantasy story lines. Luckily some franchises seem to be addressing this need, namely Haze ( though I heard they watered down their initial story a little ) and Metal Gear Solid, to name a couple. Though teenage boys are the main demographic, there are not *older* gamers who want story lines that are a bit meatier to sink their teeth into. Don’t get me wrong occasionally mindless violence in a game is therapeutic, but most of the time, to enhance the game-play, you need something deeper to immerse yourself into.

Damn, “are not” should say “are now”

They have said a delay is possible, however according to Mark Rein they are still aiming to get it out on PS3 before the end of this year.

@7 Unreal Tournemant has a proper story now -
with story comes plot! with plot gets revenge! with plot comes suffering!

Thanks three speach the only game I was lookin forward to this year and you go and rub it in more, I would love it to be all a joke and they still bring it out this year.Never mind im still playing UT99 everyday so a few months dont really matter anyway.

@7
i could not give a rats ass about the story anyway, all i want is low grav CTF and that will do me fine for years.
I think the 1 player game is just so it can still sell to people who are not still online.

@12 : No story is better than a shiiiiiite story. That would be fine by me as well.

The game is coming out in november that is the pc version… but they did state they would push for a late dec release on the ps3 as for now the ps3 release is in jan if im correct (no word yet on the 360 version but who cares now that they are optimizing the unreal engine on this game for the ps3 so no more shitty ass ports… on the good side it is comfirmed that the ps3 will have all maps shipped with the pc version and possibly reimplement cross platform play if theyve had enough time to fix the pc issues that arrive in its release in nov.

@13 I would play the story for about an hour to get used to the new feel then I wouldnt ever play it again, well unless my internet went down.
