BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The LocoRoco are back in this easy to play new interactive screensaver! And this time there are more than 200, 10 times more than in previous versions of the title. This is a simple, entertaining game, filled with gameplay elements of the original game but now enhanced by the new Sixaxis tilt functionality for a brand new rolling and bouncing experience.
GAME OVERVIEW
The aim of the game is to collect the highest number of LocoRoco and lead them to the goal of the level. The player controls and moves screen features such as branches or platforms by simply tilting the controller, making in this way the little creatures roll and bounce around. The LocoRoco are woken up, attracted and lead in the right direction by a butterfly that the player can call and move around to show them the way. Mini games show up along the route and by playing them it’s possible to multiply the number of LocoRoco. The player will also encounter some threats as they progress in the game, such as the nasty Moja which love to eat LocoRoco. If the player loses too many LocoRoco, the big boss BonMucha wakes up and the game is over!

From the videos it doesn’t look as fun. Also, I heard the SIXAXIS as a pointer rather then a tilt mechanism. =\

Never played LocoRoco but looks interesting that’s for sure..
Also - Quick question Three Speech - any chance you could ask SCEE when we are likely to see the US PSN content that got released this week?
Comment by MrGilder — Aug 31, 2007 @ 12:38 pm
@3 - We are really trying to get word from Sony on this and as soon as we have news you will have that news too… TS.

We don’t care about this unless it has a release date for the euro store. Stop torturing us with all these cool games we will never get to play.

Loved the PSP version, hope this is just as much fun.
@2 - I saw a video too and I agree, but I s’pose more of the same would get complaints too.

Is that 200 screensavers or 200 Loco Rocos that you mean in the blurb above the press release ?
(I’, still worried about the game description that it might not be as big as a lot hope)
Still..
it’s the first game where my wife would kill me if I didn’t buy it.
Better bring it out soon, or she’ll be out for blood.

Hmm, im afraid they killed LocoRoco… this time around you fly a butterfly. No more tilting the world, which was essentially the whole game mecanic. I read somewhere that it was superhard for the developers to get the game through testing/publishers because of the groundbreaking navigation and it seems like they went the easy way and made the game casual for the ps3… Really sad.

“easy to play new interactive screensaver”. What? On the PSP it was (and still is) a game. Are the graphics too simplistic to class this as a fully-fledged “game” on PS3 I wonder? Still, with a tagline like that Sony are underselling this title!

Love it on the PSP, however watching IGN’s video of in-game footage on the new one leaves me very non-plussed, looks like it isn’t going to be a patch on the first one
such a shame, was really looking forward to the PS3 version of this title. Any word on what the ico/shadow of the colussus devs are up to for PS3?
oh well, hope to see some better footage soon that will prove me wrong.

Well, its already got a European age rating, so it can’t be far from release (guesstimate: within a month?) A properly informative trailer on PSN for this, is what’s most needed I think. Currently, yeah, me and my wallet don’t know what to make of it, despite HUGELY enjoying Locoroco on PSP.
The Game Overview gives the impression that its all set in the single level. Don’t let this “edition” be a disappointment.
Comment by GleeDemon — Aug 31, 2007 @ 2:42 pm
This could be fun, but I won’t pay $60 for it. Probably not even $40. Maybe $30 but that’s pushing it.
Comment by Robert — Aug 31, 2007 @ 4:55 pm
the term screensaver really worries me!
Comment by Ben W — Aug 31, 2007 @ 6:33 pm
People need to realise this ain’t a game but a something just to keep the name alive. This certainly isn’t going to be a full price product
Comment by Jimmay — Aug 31, 2007 @ 7:52 pm
Wow, SCE Japan finally take the time to make a 1080p game.
Comment by somebody — Aug 31, 2007 @ 9:15 pm
Why would Sony downplay it as just a “screensaver”? And “LocoRoco’s” doesn’t need an apostrophe. Sorry, I can’t help it.
Comment by Stu — Sep 1, 2007 @ 9:22 pm
Erm I’ve never heard of this, perhaps I’ve been in that dark cave for too long..?
Comment by Terry — Sep 3, 2007 @ 4:36 pm
“interactive screensaver”
Ok, so this will be free right, i’m not buying a screensaver. When i’m not playing PS3 which at the moment is a lot its turned off?

[…] We were displeased-okay, a little bit more than displeased-to hear that LocoRoco Cocoreccho, or as it’s been called, Buu Buu Cocoreccho would be merely an interactive screensaver with a few minigames.
