TIME CRISIS™4 Takes Aim at PLAYSTATION®3
The PlayStation® arcade shooter classic is back – on PLAYSTATION®3
Take down waves of terrorists with the new G-Con™ 3 - with dual analogue stick
July, 2007: On your feet. Take aim. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has announced that Time Crisis™4 is coming to PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) this November. Developed by NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc., Time Crisis™ 4 is the first next-generation instalment of the classic PlayStation® arcade shooter – and with High Definition graphics, improved gameplay, an all-new First Person Shooter mode and the next-generation G-Con™ 3 controller with 6 action buttons and dual analogue sticks, it’s going to hit the target.
You are VSSE agent Giorgio Bruno. Your mission: to prevent a top-secret weapon from falling into the hands of international terrorists. Your tools: skill, speed and the revolutionary G-Con 3 controller, featuring, for the first time, dual analogue sticks. It’s pure arcade-style shooting action in the Time Crisis style that all PlayStation fans know and love. Take cover, reload, aim and fire.
As well as the Time Crisis HD arcade gameplay, there’s a next-generation twist to this title – for the first time ever, you’ll be able to play in First-Person Shooter mode, as you take the role of Captain Rush. Using the G-Con 3’s dual analogue controls to move and shoot independently through five massive levels. As if that wasn’t enough, you can also take the fight to the terrorists in Complete Mission Mode, Crisis Mode and Arcade Mode as well as extra Mini Games. And, when you’re done with blasting on your own, there’s also a two-player mode for a seriously intense arcade experience.
Key Features:
Next generation G-Con 3: Designed to enhance the next generation gaming experience the G-Con 3 features dual analogue sticks to control the character’s movement as well as the camera angles.
First Person Shooter Mode: Exclusive new game mode only available on PS3. For the first time ever in Time Crisis history players can roam freely through five new FPS stages.
Upgraded Arsenal – In addition to the standard weapons assortment, including handguns and shotguns, players can upgrade to grenade launchers and mounted machine guns (G-Con 3 FPS mode only) to increase their lethal firepower. There are also unlockable console exclusive bonus weapons. Select your weapon and be prepared to assault enemies from every direction.
With more features and details to be released in the coming months, it’s time to get your trigger finger ready and your reflexes honed – as VSSE agent Giorgio Bruno, it’ll be down to you to save the world by taking bad guys down one by one.

The new Guncon 3 will use a detection device stuck on top of your HD-TV like the Nintendo Wii controller.
Two infrared LEDs are placed on the left & right sides of the screen & an image sensor in the muzzle tracks these markers as reference points for determining where the gun is pointing on the screen.

Will the new Guncon 3 be wireless?
Also what happens if you already have a sensorbar on top of your TV: Would it be necessary to remove/replace it with the Guncon tracking device?

a) Possibly. I’ve seen photos of a black wired version, and an orange wireless one. It is brightly colo[u]red so that storekeepers are not fooled into thinking it is a real gun!
b) Get a wider TV, or remove the inferior Wii games console!
I suspect that the Guncon sensors will not work with any other console other than a PS3 (or later). What other sensors have you got installed at present?

How The GunCon 3 Will Work: It’s a Wiimote

…Of course, we haven’t seen many light gun controllers in the last few years since high-definition televisions became all the rage — the standard gun design only works with tube televisions.
But the GunCon3 apparently works… just like the Wiimote, actually.
For the GunCon 3, you place two markers on the left and right sides of your TV screen. A camera inside the muzzle of the gun detects the position of the markers, and thus you can use it regardless of your monitor [type]. There are six buttons on the device and two analog sticks. One of them is placed on a “sub-grip” that you hold with your left hand, and another is on the barrel of the gun.
Interestingly enough, Game Watch notes that while the US and Europe will get the gun in the orange color shown, Japan will get a black gun. Well, la ti da, Japan. At least we get the real thing.
