To all that need to know, I don’t think sony is accepting spaces or dashes in the names, I tried registering Regula Oblique on my USA PS3 and it kept denying me and I didnt like RegulaOblique just seems so close, funny the 360 let me do it that way though, so now Im just Oblique, so remeber the name add me to ya list when it launches in UK for yall, and try ya best to not get sniped when killzone drops.
Comment by Regula Oblique — Dec 15, 2006 @ 1:14 pm
Ok I just tried it and it does let you put a - in it, its wierd my ps3 didnt let me register it that way.
Comment by Regula Oblique — Dec 15, 2006 @ 1:45 pm
Awesome Sony! How about letting us people IN THE US THAT DONT EVEN HAVE A PS3 reserve our names too huh?
Geez…. it may have launched here but nobody has one. They’re all on ebay.
Comment by OrganicShadow — Dec 15, 2006 @ 2:25 pm
It’s really bad that it doesn’t tell you why your name is rejected.
At least tell the user if someone else has registered it, or that it can’t contain spaces!
Comment by Tony Nibbles — Dec 15, 2006 @ 4:08 pm
Hey Threespeech, it would be good to get some stats from Sony as to how many PSN IDs were registered today. Bet it would make interesting reading!

Zoidy, great question about how many people have registered for a psnetwork.
It’ll be interesting to see how it compares to xbox live userbase.
Comment by superman — Dec 15, 2006 @ 8:01 pm
Yey! Got mine! Woodzy. Great Idea of Sony to get this up so early, can’t wait till March!
Comment by Woodzy — Dec 15, 2006 @ 8:58 pm

Comment by ashram — Dec 15, 2006 @ 9:36 pm

we, Europeans always have to wait, so it does feel nice if we get something befoe you do.

Please, don’t waste your time in a blog created by a marketing company, paid by Sony to Hype
Comment by ED — Dec 16, 2006 @ 9:45 am
So I got one for my Dutch address and tried to sign in on that account with my Japanese PS3 for which I used my Japanese account, but it tells me I can not log into another account. Let’s hope that this is just some quirky error message because the EU service hasn’t been set up yet, and does not actually mean I can never change my account from the one I have now.
I could also not create a Dutch sub-account for my Japanese master-account. But on my Japanese master-account I can not use my Dutch credit card, so I can’t purchase anything.
Argh, it sucks that there are all these region restrictions, especially if you’re someone who travels internationally (e.g. me a student who is in Japan for only 1 year). So I can throw away my Japanese account and all its associated information once I get back to the Netherlands?

I hope readers of this site realise the website is run by Ramp Industry, a communications firm. It is by no way semi-official. It is OFFICIAL viral marketing.
I hope Ramp Industry know that the PSP blog site alliwantforxmasisapsp.com was recently shut down. I hope they also realise that the FTC has declared such marketing moves as ‘deceptive’.
As a final note, I emailed The Inquirer yesterday with the news on the PSP site, and also about the true ownership of threespeech.com. You can read the happy news here
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=36401
Perhaps now Sony can go back to marketing consoles the old fashioned way, you know, making good games, building solid systems at affordable pricing, rather than such deceptive methods as “semi-official” blog sites.
Ta!
Comment by John Cornet — Dec 16, 2006 @ 11:31 am
A big round of applause to John Cornet on being the 100th person to “out” ThreeSpeech…
So far ThreeSpeech has brought a lot of interesting and valid info, plus some criticism of PS along the way. Don’t think anyone’s been censored? Believe what you want, ignore what you want - just the same as with any mag or website.
PS - was the piece in the Inquirer written by a seven year old or a six year old?
Twerp.

Threespeech may well have brought some interesting news to the table. I myself used to check the site out several times a week. However, the manner in which Sony chooses to distribute this news on to internet is misleading. This site was commissioned by Sony, to claim it is Semi-Official is misleading and deceptive to readers who may well be under the impression that the site is run by fans, when clearly it is not. (although who knows what consoles the Ramp Industry boys and girls play at night)
Whether you are a fan of the site or not, this page clearly breaches ASA rules. I applaud Sony for getting such news out to its fans, but why not do it through official channels rather than through this charade.
In the mean time, have you read this interview here? http://www.ps3blog.net/2006/12/14/ps3blog-visits-sonys-3rooms-part-2-interviews/#more-2443 Possibly the most honest and frank discussion with a SCEA exec to date.
Ta!
Comment by John Cornet — Dec 16, 2006 @ 12:32 pm
That “honest and frank discussion” was brought about by 3speech was it not?? At a 3speech event? I’m intruiged by what this blog is about and what it stands for but I don’t think there’s anything particularly misleading about it. Still, some people’ll go looking for the sinister in everything…
Comment by 6TZ — Dec 16, 2006 @ 3:34 pm
And he’s not an SCEA exec as he’s from the UK - which might explain why he was honest and frank.
Comment by Belfast Steps — Dec 16, 2006 @ 3:46 pm
John
You can report back to the Major, all is well here.
Comment by Belziah(B Dizzle) — Dec 16, 2006 @ 3:57 pm
6TZ, unfortunatley theres always people like that. You’ve got to just ignore them, and laugh at them for wasting their time and thinking they’re the next Sherlock Holmes.
What exactly are you trying to achieve? You want this to be a repeat of the PSP blog or something? Having a blog like this is a good thing you gimp. You try emailing Sony direct, its damn hard to get anything out of them you dont allready know. Just leave it as it is, and if you dont like it then simply dont come here.
Comment by Tom Eccles — Dec 16, 2006 @ 6:33 pm
Totally agree Tom
I’ts not as if this is run for easiy persuaded dads/kids - its obviously for people who’re pretty up to speed with gaming and can decipher stuff as suits them. But then I guess tere’s always people out there looking to write a version of No logo (shit book by the way; hahahahah!!!!)
In short: breath out a bit more, you fools

I really can’t stand these people who try and destroy this blog. Take ED’s comment for an instance:
“Please, don’t waste your time in a blog created by a marketing company, paid by Sony to Hype.”
WTF?! So what on earth is HE doing here? Tss…
So what if this is a blog done by Sony? I don’t care, and don’t think many others do either.
I’m just here for the info, nothing else.
By the way, my nick on PlayStation Network is Macrike. Hope to see ya guys around soon.

[…] If you’re thinking of getting a vastly overpriced games console in the near future, or just fancy grabbing one of the very few things Sony offer for free, why not register your Playstation(R)Network ID now? You’ll need one of these when you get your Playstation3. (via The Guardian) […]

to comment #20:
yes, SOME of us americans can buy a ps3, if we can find them. i have yet to find one for sale, as they all sell out the second they arrive. some stores have people that show up the second a delivery is made. the average consumer with a job can’t afford to stake out every store at all hours to get one. so us americans who could afford one, but can’t find one get shafted even more when it comes to reserve a name for psn….
