Have to say, we are happy to read this one, as we have all been thinking the exact same. Sackboy it seems, is slowly turning into a PlayStation icon. As Sony’s Jonathan Fargher was recently quoted as saying, “It’s fair to say that Nintendo has got Super Mario and Sega had Sonic. It’s about time Sony got their own iconic mascot - Sackboy will be that character”.
It’s not our place to say why we think Sackboy is amazing but the fact that this character, pre-release, has created such a large following is proof enough that Sackboy is here to stay. (Excuse the above image being a re-post but it’s our favourite right now). Gotta love the little fella.
Keri Allan returns with number two in our series of TS Trumps. This time it’s the turn of Metal Gear Solid hero, Solid Snake.

For many, Solid Snake IS stealth gaming. First appearing in 1987 (yes we can’t believe it was that long ago either!) the original Metal Gear Solid (MGS) game was a runaway hit with its focus on stealth and survival using only your wits and a cardboard box.
Since then we’ve seen Snake spawn a little empire of his own, appearing in six of the seven main MGS games - his dad Naked Snake takes the main role for his own in MGS 3 - and also leaving the bosom of Sony’s PlayStation to appear in the port of the original game on the NES, and to cameo in Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros Brawl, where they loved him so much they even dedicated a level design to him.

Here’s some new screenshots of the mysterious and ground-breaking Playstation Eye title Eye of Judgment. Joystiq have an interesting hands-on experience with the game and the Eye, including lots of pictures which can be found here. Hopefully, we’ll have our own hands-on coming soon…

Bit of a round up, starting with…
Reviews on Three Speech. Yep, we can understand if any of you have reservations over us featuring first party titles but, equally, we don’t censor our writers and view reviews appearing here much the same as them appearing in the official magazine. Let us know your thoughts - if it’s apparent you don’t want these reviews, we’ll steer clear.
Leipzig. We’ll have Leipzig Gaming Convention news to tell next week, including some clarification on the digital TV tuner.
3Rooms. We’ll be back there again shortly. Most likely with a Warhawk competition evening, at which we’ll also offer a sneak peak at a few other titles, in September.
We recommend you all pop back here at 8.45pm, as we’ll have new news galore!
Three Speech is looking to bring on board an editorial assistant to work with us in a freelance capacity. You’ll need to be based in London (or able to travel to London regularly), to have consumate gaming knowledge (obviously!), to be great at coming up with ideas and sourcing potential stories. Ideally you’ll have some previous experience of writing for a website, blog or magazine.
If you’re interested, drop us an email at blog@threespeech.com with some relevant info about yourself.
To clarify on the subject of Three Speech’s policy to moderating responses…
Comments await moderation unless the comment’s author has a previously approved comment on Three Speech. A comment is also held in the queue if it contains more than two links.
If you don’t meet with the criteria above, when you post your comment, you will nonetheless see it live on the site - and yes, you will be able to take a screengrab of it! Other people will not, however, see it until it is approved.
Thanks for reading.
Set your clocks for 5pm UK time (BST). Yahoo will be hosting an exclusive first showing of the new GTA4 trailer, titled ‘Looking For That Special Someone.’

Thanks loads for your comments on the PlayStation 3 two months in. Sifting through the odd bout of dubiously similar messages, stuff cut and pasted from elsewhere and the usual suspect IP addresses, we’ve gathered a whole bunch of your relevant comments together and have passed them over to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, who promise to see which points they can action.
So, it’s two months now since the PS3 landed in Europe. Tell us how you’re getting on with it! Any surprises that have turned up along the way?! And, assuming you like what you seeing/playing with, what would you recommend about the PS3 to others? What’s the main reason why anyone should buy it?
Would be great to hear your opinions on these topics. You, after all, are the people who influence others.
