Hot off the press from Sony this morning comes the news that the next Ratchet & Clank installment ‘Quest for Booty’ will be hitting the PlayStation Store this Thursday for £9.99, ahead of a Blu-ray disc release scheduled for September 12th also priced at £9.99. Quest for Booty sees Ratchet bracing a space-aged pirate world on a mission to find booty, and rescue his missing shipmate Clank. The mini adventure will take you through up to five hours of typical Ratchet & Clank gameplay, perfect for newcomers to the series and providing a burst of new adventure for fans. This PSN game will continue where Tools of Destruction left off, but it’s going to be a lot cheaper. A lower price doesn’t mean a reductions quality though, the demo is looking great and it’s said to have tougher puzzles than its predecessor. Currently due in Autumn.

At the US PlayStation Blog Peter Dille, the VP of Marketing at SCEA, shows the amazing new PS3 adverts and explains the campaign behind them.
As Peter explains himself, ‘The spots feature some of our recent and highly anticipated first-party titles including Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Grand Turismo 5 Prologue, as well as upcoming third-party exclusives such as Haze from Ubisoft and Metal Gear Solid 4 from Konami. I recall seeing some comments on this blog recently lamenting why we weren’t making a bigger deal out of Metal Gear. Well, get ready for a steady diet, because Metal Gear Solid is the mother of all exclusives and we can’t wait for its release.’
Also, an amazing trailer for Call Of Duty 4 which is looking simply stunning.
Looks like Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is a must buy for any PlayStation 3 owner. Reviewers are agreeing that this is an AAA title with most giving at least 9/10 or over 90%.
Ratchet & Clank was set for release on Oct 30 in the US, but over the last couple of days there have been multiple reports claiming some retailers were going to be selling the game at an earlier than planned date. These rumours were initially said to be false. However, Sony have said the following on their official forum:
“As frequent PlayStation.Blog readers will remember, about two weeks back we announced Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction had gone gold and would ship to stores Oct 30. Well, due to some unexpected quickness at the factory, a vast majority of retailers have already received the game. With that, some retailers are choosing to release the game next week instead of waiting until the 30, which we are all too happy to allow. Official launch date remains October 30, but for those who can’t wait to use your trigger fingers on the Tornado Launcher (or any other weapon in Ratchet’s arsenal), check with your local game retailer next week.”

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction
The latest installment in the popular Ratchet & Clank series comes to the PS3 this November, with a hefty sheen of next-gen polish and a whole load of new and innovative touches, and Three Speech got some quality hands-on time with developers Insomniac’s latest game. Those familiar with the series will know that Ratchet is a sort of big-eared space squirrel called a Lombax, who’s rather good with machinery. He spends much of his time battling mutant robot aliens across the galaxy accompanied by his trusty robot sidekick, Clank.
PS3 Fanboy are running an interview with Ryan Schneider from Insomniac. Topics discussed include the sheer, huge scope of Ratchet & Clank and the role Home will play.
