Crispy Gamer have reported some good news for all you PSP owners out there; PSP owners should see an upswing in third-party titles for the PSP in 2009.
Regarding said third party titles, SCEA director of hardware marketing John Koller was quoted as saying, “The recipe for success on the PSP resides simply in providing franchise games that are strong brand names like on consoles, but have unique gameplay on the system. You cannot have ports. We used God of War: Chains of Olympus this year as an example of that, as well as Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and Midnight Club, which is going to be launching in the next few weeks. Those three games are titles that have very strong brand names on console but are coming over with unique gameplay on the PSP.”

While scouring through the blogosphere this morning (as you do), we came across this month old blog called Thumbbook. Nothing more than a personal blog, the author discusses how a PSP given to her son as a present resulted in an addiction of her own, and then motivated her to post about her favourite RPG games for Sony’s handheld. The library of PSP RPG games certainly has exploded recently, leading to huge sales spikes in the RPG-loving Japanese market after the release of big hitters such as Phantasy Star Portable, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and of course Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G.
As always, we’re looking for your valuble opinions on the PSP’s lineup… what are your favourite RPGs on the platform?
N+, a new PSP game from Atari, sees you guide a Ninja round a series of levels, collecting coins against the clock. Fans of games like Patapon and PaRappa will be pleased to hear that N+ hinges on timing and reflexes. Graphically it’s simple, but the gameplay escalates in complexity very quickly. Now, the really interesting thing about N+ is its UGC element. In addition to the 100 levels (50 co-op) that you get with the game itself, you will be able to design and share your own levels online. For more info on N+ click here.
GO!VIEW, the new video download service for PSP, is now live. GO!VIEW will enable you to watch TV, movies and sports on your PSP. You can get a one month free trial now by registering at www.goview.tv . Check out the video and then head over to the GO!VIEW site to claim your free month…
