PSN update time y’all. Today’s update is brought to you by the 327th anniversary of the ‘discovery’ of the mouth of the Mississippi River by snappily-named explorer ‘René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle’, who claimed the river for France. Damn you, Anniversary Sale! “Snakeball™”, “Calling All Cars™!”, “Toy Home”, “Blast Factor™ Advanced”… all items I’ve wanted previously but never had the funds.
If it wasn’t for some vagabonds cloning my credit card this week & my bank having to stop my account due to a cash withdrawal in Malaysia I would be spending a great deal over the Easter break.
“Rag Doll Kung Fu(tm): Fists of Plastic” first though, I think… then “Flock”… then “Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode”, then the LittleBigPlanet Costume kits, and finally “Quantum Of Solace - Camille Map Pack”.
D’oh! Too much choice this week!
Thanks Sony. No, really… thanks.

Great update this week, I’ve spent more than I probably should have done but never mind eh.
Amazing how few people bother to come on and comment when there’s not so much to whinge about, the fickle c****!

Is it me or are most of the things in the Anniversary sale MORE EXPENSIVE than when they launched originally (with 17.5% VAT no less).
I distinctly remember buying several of those games for the modest sum of £3.49. Now they’re ‘on sale’ for £3.99!!!
Way to celebrate your 2nd Anniversary PSN store!

You’re right Apnomis, most of these games are now more expensive. That’s strange.

“F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin” downloadable content (”Toy Soldiers” Game Pack) this coming Thursday?

New F.E.A.R. 2 DLC next week
Wednesday 8-Apr-2009 12:30 PM Toy Soldiers map pack inbound, to be followed by more content in the coming months
The F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin fans among you will be able to download the free ‘Toy Soldiers’ map pack from next Thursday.
The previously confirmed DLC is the first of three F.E.A.R. 2 DLC packs that will be released “now through summer 2009″ over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
“Devotees can also look forward to additional multiplayer Elite Powered Armor (EPA) maps in May and single player levels, multiplayer maps and more to be released late this summer,” said publisher Warner.
Here’s the official description of the maps featured in the Toy Soldiers pack.
* FullTilt: Players battle inside a retro 1970s era pinball machine “Snake Fist” style as they use flippers, targets, spinners and pop-bumpers for cover in fast paced action. The multi-level playfield and authentic sounds set the mood for destruction.
* Cockroach: Featuring a blood drenched hospital room filled with heart pounding action, players can climb up electrical cords, laboratory equipment and pill bottles in a tightly connected environment.
* Recess: Players wage mayhem from the top of a giant sandcastle to the cockpit of a toy bulldozer.

If only “Killzone 2″ hadn’t been released two weeks after “F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin” was available I would’ve spent far more time with it.
I hope the new “Toy Soliders” content can drag me away from Guerrilla Games’ masterpiece, but I suspect the fact that the “Killzone 2” new online multi-player downloadable maps are imminent (and expected to be at zero cost), then “F.E.A.R 2…” will sadly be sidelined again.
Pity.

‘SingStar Extras’ will bring new features to game and SingStore
by Majed Athab { Apr 6th 2009 at 2:00PM }
SingStar director Dave Raynard revealed to Eurogamer that some adjustments will be made to the SingStar franchise, namely the addition of something called “SingStar Extras” and all-new gameplay features. SingStar Extras isn’t a game, but a new section in the SingStore where users can purchase paid or free “features.” He hasn’t detailed what these new features are, but he says they will most likely be revealed at E3 in June.
A voice control option will be coming to the series via SingStar Pop Edition later this month. What other unannounced features could SCEE be working on?

“SEGA Outrun Arcade” this coming Thursday (but NOT in the US!)…

Sega: Outrun Online Arcade next week, contest announced
by Richard Mitchell { Apr 9th 2009 at 5:00PM } Xbox PlayStation
Sega has announced that Outrun Online Arcade will be landing on XBLA and the European PSN next week, on April 15 and 16, respectively. The XBLA version will be available for a decent 800, and the PSN version comes in at £7.99 / €9.99 (the game isn’t coming to PSN in the US). We should remind readers that publishers have revealed incorrect release dates for Xbox Live Arcade titles before, but it would certainly make sense for both versions to release during the same week.
Sega Europe also announced an Outrun Online Arcade competition, the winner of which will receive a trip to Maranello, Italy, the home of Ferrari. The competition will be a simple race to the finish line with no restrictions on vehicle choice, meaning players can use whatever cars they manage to unlock in the game. The press release even suggests that players choose the easy route offered in the game. A registration page for the competition will launch alongside the game next week.
