As of April the 17th Three Speech will be bowing out to make way for a brand new and shiny EU PlayStation blog.
It’s your feedback, comments and suggestions that have made this possible, so you should all be very proud! Obviously both Three Speech and SCE UK are very grateful to everyone who has made this site so busy and lively over the past two and half years. Your input has really helped PlayStation to grow, and the new blog will be a further way for you to contribute ideas. It’s been good fun meeting all of you and we’re looking forward to seeing you on the EU blog!
We’ll have more info on this over the next few days…
We’d like to thank everyone at ThreeSpeech for everything you’ve done for the PS3 community and those times when you featured what we’re trying to achieve at PS3 Attitude.
We’re sorry to see you go…

Just make ONE blog for PlayStation and post content relevant to everywhere.
The same goes for PlayStation.com - the websites are different for each country and the features even differ. It’s stupid. Just put it all together.

@ Neil
How can they make one website for everyone when each territory has different release dates, pricing, etc?! That’s the whole problem with the US blog. It’s not always relevant to us.
I think this is a good thing. ThreeSpeech has been great, but this way we’ll be getting our very own official blog.

Im sure the CLAN will keep the name so Three Speech can live on in eternal glory!!!!

Thanks for the hardwork, but of course an official blog is better than a semi-official blog
I agree with Neil that there should certainly be a UK and US PlayStation blog, though the rest of Europe does require more language work
As for the official site, it needs improving. It should have auto log-in features so I don’t need to do that extra click to sign in, as firefox remembers my password
Comment by Adam — Apr 8, 2009 @ 4:52 pm
I see this is a necessary move, and whilst ThreeSpeech has done what it can, it’s time for Sony to handle this internally. We’ll see, but our hopes are high.

So now it will be even easier to compare commnuications between SCEA & SCEE lack of it! Only joking. Just remember the 3 golden rules to a decent & relevant website - content, content and more content. Al the best.

Threespeech were clearly hung out to dry by PlayStation in the UK/Europe - not given sufficient access to insider infi and also not alllowed the freedom to comment like a true community blog. Given that, I think they’ve done a very decent job. I’m sure the new EuroBlog will be twice as informative and only half as entertaining and quirky

Of course you wouldn’t. You’re not an EU resident.
To those that have followed Threespeech and have been grateful for all the info they have been able to provide, despite SCE hindering EU users at every turn, the whole article just wreaks of sarcasm and petty jibes at what WAS a really good substitute for a site Sony should have made in the first place.
But yet again, the Americans have to come first cos the UK is just some insignificant island surrounded by insignificant EU sub countries that really don’t matter to them.

somehow i don’t think the new blog will have the same feel, and will end up being overrun wiv da kids who fink da PSFREE is da best WOOT!
Let hope SCEE prove me wrong
how about one final comp to get rid of all the ps3 related cr@p you have lying about the office?

I have enjoyed the more adult/mature nature of the banter and discussion on this site, so hope to see most of you over at the new blog.
Already made a good few virtual pals through posting/the clan, so for me at least Threespeech has added a lot of value to my PS3 experience.

Comment by mrsatansdojo — Apr 8, 2009 @ 9:49 pm
NOOOO! I love ThreeSpeech
This is a very sad day. Not to mention the fact where I work block the eu.playstation domain but don’t block ThreeSpeech.com so I’ll no longer be able to read the news in work.
Unless SCEA turn over a new leaf I can’t see them taking much trouble to contribute regular updates (they’ve never bothered here), it’ll probably be a clone of the US blog with the odd SCEA press release thrown in. And I very much doubt an official blog will allow fans to contribute in the same way.
Can’t they just make ThreeSpeech into an official blog and just contribute to it a bit more? It has the balance right, I fear an EU blog will just become a mouth piece for EU press releases. You even have your own KillZone 2 clan!
Will you be involved in the new site? Will the new site retain this domain name? We need more info!

Comment by CartBlanche — Apr 8, 2009 @ 10:07 pm
@ Cart, I hope so too - assuming the EU blog even allow comments (gasp! lol). I’m guessing they’ll link to your PSN sign on too - so any regulars that don’t use their PSN ID here might want to make their PSN ID know before this site dies so we know who’s who! I can’t help thinking it will lose it’s intimacy though, look at the EU forum, it’s just a mass of posts from thousands of people, any comments will just get lost in the crowd…
Also I hope this doesn’t mean they’ll have to translate any blog articles into 37 different languages before they’re posted meaning that any news they post will have already appeared on other sources 3 weeks earlier!!!!
@ Elephant_Stone, nice idea about keeping the clan name in Memory of ThreeSpeech! Maybe we should register alternate domain and keep the blog going in an unofficial capacity!
Comment by Apnomis — Apr 8, 2009 @ 10:21 pm
@reakt - we were!
thinking about it - reakt, JS, me plus a couple of notable others have an evil blog crookedconsole.com which has lacked any kind of focus for ages, my new realworld(tm) job has completely wiped out my time for it, so here is an idea - any/all of you, go have a look at it and email me from there, I’ll add you ALL as authors and we’ll see what happens, also anyone wants to take on the full admin, let me know, otherwise I’ll keep it covered.
Comment by MrJimmy — Apr 8, 2009 @ 10:27 pm

I cant believe you announce you are now becoming official and Sony will have a blog in the EU regions and people use the opportunity to start bashing Sony.
Guys come on lets remember all the great news and comps that TS has put on over the last few years, heck before the great network of community sites and fan sites for the PS started up this was pretty much the place to get all your PS3 news.
So to TS i say thanks for doing a great job, and to the EU blog i say Hello and welcome, ( are you really prepared for all the ungrateful gamers in this region?).
Comment by Nathaniel — Apr 9, 2009 @ 6:27 am
This was, of course, inevitable given we have known about the pending availability of the new Official European Blog for a while, but many of us, myself very much included, with be saddened by this announcement.
Thank you for your support, guidance and, not least, commitment & perseverance (often through adversity), Three Speech.
I wish everybody involved in the production and ongoing maintenance of this site good luck with any future ventures, and hope you have also benefited as much as our community has during the past few years.
Are you planning a combined ‘farewell to Three Speech’ & a new Blog launch party? If not in person, an organised PlayStation® Home meeting may be an idea. Is anybody interested?
Finally, if there are no plans to redirect the http://www.ThreeSpeech.com address back to the new Blog site, and the domain name is not going to be retained, I would like to register an interest in acquiring either just the domain or, if also on offer, the entire site concept (and content, if possible).
Myself and the other ‘Regulars’ were looking for a more permanent location, and it would be an ideal opportunity to meet our needs whilst ensuring your name lives on.
Best wishes,
BFN,

WHY can’t SONY make their crappy Eu blog (In 37 languages and multiple Store updates on a Thursday) to keep all the fanboys on the awful eu.forums happy and still keep TS alive, i for one don’t recall being asked what i thought, and i doubt any other TSR member was either, SCEE has sneaked up behind us in the dark and royally f–ked us over, yeah, thanks Sony, and thanks all you cretins from the EU blogs for killing us off.
i hope you’re all bl–dy d-mn well happy with yourselves.
you only have to look at the US Blog to see how pointless commenting on any article is, and if you really think SCEEs lackies are going to comment like SCEA do, than i suggest you stop dreaming.
TS was special (mrSketch was very special :P) and had a mature/different feeling to it that i have not found on any other PS3 forum, i liked it here, i don’t want to go and hang out with a bunch of Eurobrat fanboys who have no grasp of grammar or proper syntax.
the UK has always had pride that we were different to the rest of Europe, TS was such a place.. i shall miss TS very much, truly a one of a kind.

Good riddance.
No offence intended to ThreeSpeech employees or posters but Threespeech was always just a half baked marketing scam.
TS was was made by a marketing and communications ageny called Ramp Industry. They were employed by SCEE to push their brand which is why we never got any answers and anything negative was totally glossed over.
Now we get to confront the organ grinder instead of the monkey.

I’ll be sad to see ThreeSpeech go. Fair play to CrowdDNA for running an entertaining, fun, warm blog in what I can imagine were fairly challenging circumstances

Over on this thread - http://threespeech.com/blog/2009/04/this-summer-an-official-playstation-blog-will-be-coming-to-europe/ - it says the new EU blog won’t appear until Summer!!! That could be anywhere from July to September! I’m doubly shocked now considering TS is shutting down next week.

mobiletone, that’s quite a xenophobic and selfish attitude to have. Many more Playstation owners would rather see an official EU Playstation blog instead of ThreeSpeech. If ThreeSpeech gave a damn, they could continue in some form but the reality is that they were paid by Sony to do a marketing job and now Sony want to do it themselves. Sorry ThreeSpeech, I know you were restricted.
The ThreeSpeech community did have charm and there are some great members here, but it acted as more of a hang-out than anything really useful for Playstation owners. Lets take off the rose-tinted shades and not forget the late, regurgitated official news postings, the total lack of communication between us and Sony, and the many questions we asked repeatedly falling on deaf ears. I hope this will change with an official EU blog, what with the US blog being a good yard stick and I sincerely hope SCEE are trying to change for the better.

What _should_ happen is that the EU blog goes ahead full steam - but that the staff from Crowd administrate and moderate it ^__^

Good riddance. It’s about time Sony started to listen to UK customers directly, not through some muffled ear-plugs disguised as ThreeSpeech.

OK… I’ll be honest… I originally used ThreeSpeech to send traffic to 1upGamers.com where I had previously taken the role of Forums Moderator.
However, after a month or so, this site’s comment submission parsing engine placed all my posts into the moderation queue only to resurface days later when the text I was attempting to relay was then out of date.
This was doing neither my own site, nor the PlayStation community any favours.
So, I then dropped my references to 1upGamers, and used ThreeSpeech as a convenient place to store & retrieve any interesting snippets of news I found whilst surfin’ across the World Wide Wait. I always knew I could direct traffic here if I couldn’t be bothered to find the original source
It was a convenient arrangement that increased the “impression count” on various pages here, and in turn meant my attempts to promote 1upGamers.com on other Forums were disguised.
I then stopped being selfish & started to read the comments made by others. In majority I found an adult-oriented forum where people with differing views could discuss the various PlayStation brands, Sony & subsidiaries, first & other party development houses, and many aspects of the video gaming industry intelligently & without fear of recrimination.
A few years have passed since then, but I have not found any other forum-based site on the Internet in the last 14 years I have been online that has not been spoiled by one or two recurring visitors, or by those who have their own agenda & dismiss comments made by anybody else who does not agree with their own narrow viewpoint.
Now the time has finally come to say farewell, I will certainly miss ThreeSpeech; not least for what it offered me, but for what it offered the video game industry as a whole.
On a number of occasions, Three Speech have approached me to write content for the site, but because my articles would eventually be moderated by a Sony representative, I ultimately felt this was too much of a restriction as what I wanted to say would not be published as I intended it. Constructive criticism may have been allowed, but general negativity would certainly not have been tolerated. So, I thanked the kind offer those at Three Speech had placed before me, but opted to continue as I was not “selling out” or succumbing to the temptation of seeing my name promoted to article author knowing that what I really wanted to say was somewhat different.
The nature of this Forum with the lack of moderation of individual comment text has meant that anything I have submitted has (eventually) been published without editing, and for this fact alone, I am proud to be a regular contributor.
Once Three Speech has closed their virtual doors this week, if the alternate suggestion from Sony does not offer me the same freedom then I will not be participating. I have not bothered with the current European PlayStation forums as I find the content too difficult to navigate, and the US Blog is so full of “me too”, “first”, and “awesome” posts it just dilutes the content where somebody actually raises a worthwhile point or useful suggestion.
Three Speech ‘regulars’ voice opinions, raised issues, and offer suggestions the likes of which I have not seen anywhere else. It will be a real shame if the community built up here in the last two & a half years is forced to go elsewhere if the official Blog is not ready in the immediate or very near future.
In the meantime, if you would like to participate in the next generation of semi-official bloggery… please make your intentions known now, as I will be recruiting for “Four Word” soon

Sad to see you go TS.. RIP
A special thanks to all the posters who have helped me out/made me laugh/argued with me, don’t think the new eu blog will be half as much fun or have half the feeling of community this place has.
