@ CartBlanche, that US ad is more impressive when you read this:

"The idea for the commercial centered on telling the story of war on Helghan - up close and very personal and to use the game’s engine to show it. No voodoo, no heavy metal soundtrack: just the true representation of the in-game graphics."

And if you happen to know any Xbox fanboys that don't believe the ad uses the in-game engine (given how most of their ads are CG with little 'representative of game' disclaimers) you will soon be able to download the interactive version of it from the PSN as part of a project code-named 'KillZone in 4D' (another E3 2005 promise fulfilled!!!! lol)

"At the risk of stating the obvious – the Killzone 2 engine is phenomenally powerful. To offer you some insight into the technology behind this game, we will release a playable version of this in-engine ad vignette on the PlayStation Network coming in March. You’ll be able to control the camera and hear director commentary on how the production was completed using only the game’s technology. The project codename is “Killzone in 4-D” – hope you can check it out."

@ CB, very true. Despite how infuriating I find game ads that end with the Xbox logo/sound and a voice over saying 'Xbox 360 from £129.99', they do get the message across well.

Having a blink and miss it PS3 swoosh silently on screen at the beginning and just end the ad with KillZone 2 27-02-09 isn't the clearest message. They should be shouting from the roof tops that this is PS3 only!

They should have a standard splash screen, with voice over, to show at the end of all PS3 ads.

Just watched Criterion Games' latest Crash TV and they are definitely hinting at Black in the top right hand corner.

I've been thinking about Sony's advertising and it needs some tweaks...

When you watch an advert for a product on TV, it rarely starts off with the company logo or who made the product. The product is king and you should show as much about the product for 25 seconds. The very last screen for about 5 seconds should be "Only available on the Sony Playstation 3 on 27th of Feb" or similar, with the developer or publisher logo thrown in.

Btw, has anyone actually see this teaser trailer on their TV screens. Are they more likely to be seen at a particular time or just scattered all over the tv schedule place?
