That’s right folks…
Killzone 2 demo…
in the store…
5th of February.
What can you expect?
Well, it’s the first two sections of level one (meaning that you get the same tutorial sequence as in the final game - bit of a head start there…), which is called ‘Corinth River’. You will get to battle your way through a beach landing and a warehouse. In case you’re wondering, the demo goes live on the same day for our friends in the SCEA region.
Anyone got any idea what Thursday’s weather will be like?
excellent

I’ll second marvzilla’s emotions on heavier snow.
I’m looking forward to the Demo, can’t wait.
Now that KZ2 is imminent, I want to see more info and footage about U2 : AT and Black Rain ( hence forth known as BR ). And a release date would be nice as well.

With all of the anticipation and excitement that this game is kicking up, it’s around about now that we find out that the online will be handled on Demonware servers, giving the same “cannot connect to host” problem that plagues CoD4 and CoD:WaW’s party features.
Comment by The-Unknown — Feb 2, 2009 @ 1:04 pm
Are Demonware Intel based / PowerPC based servers or are they using a farm of PS3s like the WarHawk servers used to use?

I think this is more to do with the fact COD uses peer2peer to connect players and KZ2’s dedicated servers should not be faced with the same issues. (fingers crossed)

@ Mr.Monkey and resi fans
I am seriously disappointed with the Resi Demo, I can’t believe how old and stiff it feels.
It’s like playing Rugby with ur granddad! The graphics were as bland and tasteless as his porridge.

Comment by Rosco1uk — Feb 2, 2009 @ 4:27 pm
@E-ROLE
maybe its just my memory not being what it once was but I certainly remember Resi4 having a much nicer 3rd person control scheme that reacted far smoother than what has been witnessed in the demo for Resi5.
It may just be my bad memory but that is how it felt to me at least.
Comment by JohnSketch — Feb 2, 2009 @ 4:33 pm
Resi 5 demo is out? Will have to have a look for this. As for the snow, its raining here (East coast) although the schools and transport is still stuffed. fun…

@Johnsketch
You can set the controls to Resi4 style in options, no it’s not your imagination/memory
Lot better with Type A, also you can swap weapons real-time with the d-pad.
@E-Role
Found the 360 version to look way better as it ran @ 1080i, going to play them both @ 720p to do a more fair comparison, but textures seem not as detailed from initial impressions…
However, in the 1 stages cut scene there was a V-sync tear on 360 version non on PS3
(really anal with these things)
Comment by Mr.Monkey — Feb 2, 2009 @ 5:21 pm
awwww - i was planning on sneaking this from the J-PSN Store this week *feels slightly less l33t* still might though, depends how sloooooooooooow the PAL servers are on Thurs’
gonna be using the COD4 controls i think, R3 to look down the sights as standard!! WTF. also a 5 hour campaign mode is a bit weak, i hope online more than makes up for that. and ‘bot matches!
Comment by mobiletone — Feb 2, 2009 @ 6:01 pm
Tested, Ps3 version has tighter default controls (Type A) had to increase stick sensitivity on XB
XB has better default lighting with more contrast in shadows, also looks overall sharper. PS3 version has a very slightly softer look with some textures.
Also noticed in the opening cutscene dust has a ghosting effect around people on Ps3, non on 360. But 360 has a V-sync tear, no problems on Ps3.
It looks good on both but, runs better on Ps3, looks slightly better on 360 and it also will upscale to 1080i/p which on my set up is a deciding factor…

Awesomeness coming at you. Killzone 2 demo dated. February 5.
The demo will contain the first two sections of the level one, which includes the tutorial. The level is called “Corinth River” and will have you battling through a beach landing and a warehouse.
This news goes out to both Europe and America. Japan, which has its own happy little video gaming world, will have a second demo that’s all theirs. Dang.

Although history would show that FPS games aren’t that hot in Japan, SCEE’s still taking the leap of faith anyway, bringing Killzone 2 to the region a month after North America and Europe gets their shipment.
April 23 is the said release date for Japan, and will carry a tag price of ¥ 6980 (about US$ 78), a bit higher compared to the US$ 56 retail price we have here. Then again, they are getting a demo, two of them in fact. Yeah, just when we thought we’re finally getting something ahead of Japan, they still edge us out by getting something we don’t.
Come March, they’ll be releasing in Japan a demo where players can try out a selection from the campaign mode’s prologue. And then later, they’ll be getting an online demo. As far as I know, we’re only getting one demo: for those who pre-ordered, you’ll be getting it next week. For those who didn’t, you’ll be getting it on PSN the day before the release…

Kotaku played the game on ‘average’ setting -
“Killzone 2 is a tightly-paced shooter that walks gamers through an eclectic mix of levels in an experience that comes in at just under 8 hours. But it’s also another one of those games that, because of its relatively short length and its perfect pacing, can feel more like a movie or a book than a game.”

I enjoyed DMC4….It had and did everything I expected of a Dante game (”spits on DMC2″).
You had the over the topness, campy storyline, cheesy dialogue, damsel in distress with blooming love story, more set piece battles than Lord of the Rings and a series of enemies who badly need to go to tailoring school.

DMC3 now that was amazing, shares the throne with Ninja Gaiden Black/Sigma.
Also recently fell in love with DMC1 again, was re-playing the PAL version ages ago and was struck how bad the port was, with borders and 50hz only, made Dante move like treacle. So I bought the Ntsc version, 60hz, full screen = big grin from me.
4 was good, I really enjoyed it, but it was easy compared to 1&3, also recycling the same bosses was bad game design. But everything else was there (as Sketch said)
Bayonetta is looking tasty, made by the ex-guys from Team “Okami, Viewtiful Joe, God Hand” Clover *gush* & the Guy behind Resident Evil & DMC1…
One to watch? Me thinks so…

I just called the Corporate Office of GameStop. The transferred me to a recording talking about Killzone 2 demo. They claim the demo will be available today 2-5-09 with the gamestop code but not sure when exactly. To check back periodically on PSN during the day. So basically its posted when its posted. Obviously, having this demo posted in time for those who pre-ordered the stupid game was not a priority for anyone at SONY. I would of expected the demo to be available at midnight eastern time. But then again, it’s not XBOX LIVE who run circles around SONYS joke of a network. This really pisses me off, I am leaving town this afternoon and not coming back until sunday. I wanted to check it out before I left. Its bad enough they lied to me at Gamestop and told me the demo would be available right away when I pre-ordered. Come to find out after getting home I had to wait a month until today, and still no DEMO.
