Sony has just been in touch to tell us about the Killzone 2 Mobile Training Centre. This is your chance to get the jump on the Helghast with some tips and training from masters of the game. It should also give you the edge in online play - so well worth getting to one of the sessions if you can.
Here’s what we’ve been told:
Come face-to-face with the brutal Helghast at the Killzone 2 Mobile Training Centre.
As a skilled member of an ISA squad, you’ll find yourself in the middle of the desperate conflict. Can you survive the Helghast assault and halt the march towards all-out war? Or will you end up being just another faceless casualty in an unmarked grave?
If you’re over 18 and think you have what it takes, join us at the Killzone 2 Mobile Training Centre for briefings, training - and ultimately battle.
Coming soon to Brighton, Birmingham and Manchester. Check back here for more details next week!
For more information on Killzone 2 on PLAYSTATION 3 go to www.killzone.com.

Sounds promising, but I hope it is not as bad the as Motor Storm one whereby they were relegated to a car park to show off the MS-PR gameplay. Hopefully these will all be inside a shopping centre.
PS. Why no London love?
Comment by CartBlanche — Feb 17, 2009 @ 5:25 pm
Yea, whats up with that! no London!?
Cool anyways, I love it when Sony bugger about a bit. Would be nice to have more of these events. How about a threespeech event????

They haven’t ruled out more locations, but if they organise a venue in London or in the South(East or West) another regional set of people complain.

“Killzone 2 DLC details rumoured”

Retro maps, in-game store and other features hinted at

Killzone 2 isn’t out until next week, but already rumours surrounding post-release DLC are flying around.
The most interesting of the rumours are of plans to add an in-game store to KZ2, similar to Metal Gear Solid 4, in which you’ll be able to buy new clothes and upgrades for your player (presumably in multiplayer), and that Guerrilla has a retro level pack planned, containing multiplayer maps from the first game.
It’s also reported, according to an “anonymous source”, that Killzone 2’s post release DLC will include new multiplayer maps and modes, and a mix of free and paid DLC is planned, although that’s more obvious stuff.
Game director Mathijs de Jonge last month shot down re-occurring rumours that Guerrilla planned to add co-op gameplay to the main campaign via a post-release patch.
We’ve contacted Sony for a response to the latest whispers.

I’ll be going to this, must be before 27th if anyone is going to ‘get the jump’. Glad manchester got a venue, last one i went to was KOIF 05. That was in trafford center at Virgin megastore

Bah, my killzone training consists of plenty of waxing on (and conversely, waxing off), painting the fence and catching flies with chopsticks.
Sketchy, you’ll be so good at the game when it’s finally released that you should definitely consider being my crutch in multiplayer.
save me john, save me!

My plan is to stick with the Helghast, Sniper Class - cloak in a corner and camp like it’s going out of fashion.
As a note (without spoilers) - I used a knife when teleporty dudey was coming at you, to finish him off.
Hadn’t realised you could use guns
Comment by JohnSketch — Feb 18, 2009 @ 12:40 pm
@ JohnSketch
You used a knife????! lol nutter I just pumped a shotgun at his ass and riddled his corpse with the SMG.
I want online play now! So I can sneek behind John and knife him.

LOL!
Want more Ryu, extra helpings of Chun-Li? Then this is your
week. Not only is Capcom releasing Street Fighter IV on PS3
and 360 this Friday, but tomorrow Thursday 19th February,
PlayStation 3 owners will be able to play the
game that laid the foundations for SFIV with the release
of Super Street Fighter II HD Remix on the European
PlayStation Store.
SSFII HD Remix is priced at Euro14.99 or GBP11.99.
Capcom’s European PR team
What a mess, I’ll be playing SF4 personally.

@17 : I’m buying some Burnout Paradise goodness this Thursday.
Comment by CartBlanche — Feb 18, 2009 @ 2:59 pm
@E-Role - ThreeSpeech event would be good. SCEE don’t have 3-rooms any more but we could organise our own event down the pub!
@All - I read that Street Fighter II HD wotsit is coming to the EU store this week (i.e. tomorrow). However, we can buy Street Fighter IV from Play for 28 quid, just over twice the price of Street Fighter II HD. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.
Comment by reakt — Feb 18, 2009 @ 4:24 pm
@reakt
Sounds interesting, I guess we’d have to meet up in a central location so everyone could make it. Shame there’s no 3rooms anymore, I never had the chance to go to one.
Couldn’t sort something out could ya TS? you could make it my early christmas and birthday present.

Why not arrange a meet-up at a European (oh, alright, I mean UK, as I don’t have a passport) gaming event later in the year?
The avid designers amongst us can mock up some designs for T-shirts with the (pending) Three Speech “Favicon” logo, the site address, and each of our user names (or PlayStation Network Ids), and we can get them distributed to wear on the day.
Or is that too fanboy-kiddie for us oldies (cough) gaming veterans?
PS. I’ll also need some kid sizes as my loin-fruits will want to come along.
PPS. Did we ever decide on a Three Speech “Killzone 2″ Clan name?

…Further to feedback about some issues with the disc swapping feature in SingStar on PS3, the SingStar Team will soon release release [! – yes, so good they’ll do it twice – fp.] version 2.40 of the game. The fixes included in this update are:
* You can now quit the game when using a PS2 disc.
* You can now quit the game when using the SingStar ABBA disc, when an ABBA wallpaper is selected, and a disc swap is done.
* The PS2 disc swap now works with PS2 SingStar 80s Sweden and Benelux
