Danish PlayStation site, Playstadium, has been in touch to tell us about Danish label Soulland’s LittleBigPlanet fashion show.
At the top of the story we’ve got a video of the level, but it’s probably worth clicking through to YouTube and watching it in high quality. Click through for the full story, as kindly translated by the guys at Playstadium.
23-year-old Silas Adler, the man behind Soulland, is on track with a very non-traditional marketing of his forthcoming collection. In collaboration with Sony PlayStation, he has just unveiled a special level in LittleBigPlanet, where fashion-minded gamers from around the world can see the clothes, themes and inspiration from his upcoming spring collection. The collection received great attention at the recent Copenhagen Fashion Week, but in the weeks before the clothes hit the stores, interested people can now get a sneek-preview via the level.
Sackboy, dressed in Soulland-inspired clothing, must go through a number of obstacles in a universe with references to, among other things, the clothes from the spring collection and the inspiration for them - namely the artist Poul Pedersens “theft” of letters from other artists’ works . There are alsospecific challenges, for example in a virtual version of Soulland-team favorite pub in Copenhagen.
“I am driven to challenge the usual formats - identify new ways of doing things. This applies both to individual designs and the way to expose the finished result. In LittleBigPlanet I saw the possibility of mixing fiction and my own universe of a new way. We used it to display our forthcoming collection and demonstrate the idea behind the current one. Meaning that the level shows both the autumn and spring collections,” explains Adler.
Andreas Hansen, Marketing Manager of Nordisk Film Interactive (the official distributor of PlayStation in the Nordic region) is enthusiastic about the finished result:
“LittleBigPlanet is a game with undreamed-of possibilities and it is impressive what creative people like Silas Adler are able to get out of this game universe. We are seeing more and more players from creative industries such as fashion and music, using Little Big Planet as an alternative channel to show their stuff off - and we are very excited about the new and unique game experiences that are being created for the PS3 users worldwide.”
That’s really cool. I’d like to see more businesses using Little Big Planet to promote their products. Imagine levels that act as film trailers, or previews for upcoming television series!
Of course, that does mean you could end up with a slew of Coca-Cola and Burger King levels….

Am I missing something here? I didn’t watch the entire video, I admit, I just skipped bits… due to the fact that it looked like an incredibly average LBP level?
