I'm so happy that Sony are giving the PSP a big push.

Resistance Retribution is awesome, and just proves if you put the effort in you get alot out of the PSP.

Same seems to hold true for Motorstorm. absolutely blown away by the Video, just waiting some LBP footage.

"MotorStorm: World Tour... desert tracks like the original, topical tracks like Pacific Rift, and Ice/Snow tracks like these all on the same disc!"

A bit like "SEGA Rally" then :)

If the PSP lives up to the actually words of the acronym "PlayStation Portable", I would hope that the same tracks would be available on both the PS3 & the handheld equivalent, and game-play would also be interchangeable. Not in a "Resistance: Retribution" way where you "infect" [!] the handheld device, but with a cut-down version of the larger home-based console (like "Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection" available on the PlayStation Store having been ported from the original PSP version, only with less ancillary features on the secondary platform mainly due to download file size capacity).

Any MotorStorm festivals underway in a PS3 game would then be able to be played on-the-go (or on-erm-anywhere-else if you wish to go through the motions) sharing game data until a connection to the PlayStation Network could be gained to synchronise the statistics & progression through the levels.

This idea has been tried before with older generation consoles & with competition to the PlayStation brand, but rarely gained any momentum outside of Japan, other than with dedicated (and rich) gamers who imported the devices themselves.

Wouldn't it be a great selling point for the new "PSP2" if it offered this feature with patches to established titles, but also as initial functionality in new developments?

BFN,

Wow, LittleBigPlanet PSP and MotorStorm PSP! Maybe there's life in the old dog yet!

Looks very cool though, I also hope that this somehow makes it to PS3 as DLC, racing on ice and snow will look cool in HD!

Maybe the next PS3 version could be something like MotorStorm: World Tour, and it could feature desert tracks like the original, topical tracks like Pacific Rift, and Ice/Snow tracks like these all on the same disc!

@18 SH4RKY

Just for future reference so you don't get confused with CGI and FMV. ;)

FMV is Full Motion Video which is normally based on Real Human Character models being captured on video camera and then rendered into computer imagery backgrounds, such as games like Red Alert where you see the real human actors playing there roles. That is FMV.

CGI which is Computer Generated Imagery, is where everything is done and rendered by computers, with no real life character actors on screen, other than for Capture requirements for animation which is still run and rendered by computers. Uncharted Drakes Fortune as an example. ;)

Hope that helps a little.

As for this game, it's definitely all CGI, but after looking at how good the Wipeout games look on PSP, this Motorstorm game, although not up to the graphical high res of the PS3 game, will still probably look bloody good on the PSP.
I just hope it plays well.

Also, I would love to see a Snow version on the PS3, and I think if it sells well on PSP(I know I'll buy it) then maybe they will bring one to the PS3 as well.
They may even be working on a PS3 version, as I believe it's not actually the same studio producing the port.

Presumably, the video is a target render?

Still, this is better news from Sony. Long has the PSP been pretty much ignored with only a trickle of titles coming out - and every other month or so, at best.

I don't see any harm in having mini-counterparts to some of the bigger titles on the PS3, being developed (and slightly tweaked) for the PSP, or even the PS2 (could someone consider LBP for PS2 please?)

One thing the blogs on here have ignored (although quite understandably, after being hit with a whammy of unprecedented PSP title announcements) is the PS2 version of MotorStorm.

I know what you're thinking but in my opinion, I don't see anything wrong with the PS2. I own a PS2 and PSP (not PS3 - sorry, Sony, but you haven't convinced me yet) and I'm a loyal PlayStation fan and I'm still enjoying my PS2, especially now because so many titles are so cheap.

So, it's nice to see that a modern developed IP is being retro-fitted onto the PS2 but also being ported to the PSP. Right now, I and I'm sure many PSP owners are not too concerned that these could potentially be viewed as 'ports' of their bigger brothers from the PS3. It does not matter, because the PSP is getting a bit of attention and that's all very important.

I tell you one thing though, Sony needs to be making such announcements AT LEAST once every two months, in order to keep PSP fans loyal, so not to neglect the little machine and disenchant/deter potential new buyers.

Sony, do not screw up these announcements and delay these releases until next year!!!
