Anyone tried the FEAR demo? Any good?
Btw, when is 3S hooking in the PSN ID feature like the American blog has?
Comment by CartBlanche — Jan 23, 2009 @ 12:57 pm
Late to publish and the content is rubbish. this website has become irrelevant.
Comment by mullarted — Jan 23, 2009 @ 1:03 pm
The Little Mermaid threw me back a bit, but yea, ok update.
Comment by E-ROLE — Jan 23, 2009 @ 1:06 pm
not bad.

Penny Arcade is actually priced well, think I paid over a tenner for it on XBL (ages ago) Hope SCEE put episode 2 up soon, but not before Street Fighter HD!
Yeay for PsOne games, but they are hardly AAA titles now? Points for trying tho…
@CartBlanche/Savage
Played the demo, don’t like the way enemies glow in the dark when you use “reflex” bullet-time. Hopefully you can turn that off in options in retail.
Also didn’t like how grenades don’t explode on impact, like fear 1, have to cook them first. But I suppose I will get used to that…
Jumped twice in the demo, think shock scares are lot better than Fear 1.

Comment by JohnSketch — Jan 23, 2009 @ 1:16 pm
That Far-cry fortune pack is really popular seems to be on the store update every week, did they run out of stock or something?
Comment by Mr.Monkey — Jan 23, 2009 @ 1:17 pm
Good update but I’m frustrated about Skate 2. That game’s been out for less than a week and they’re already selling DLC for it on the store. The “Time is money” functionality should have been included in the shipped game. I hope other devs / publishers don’t follow this example.
Comment by reakt — Jan 23, 2009 @ 1:23 pm
The only thing of mention is the “cheaper” price for Penny Arcade Adventures Volume 1.
Who’s picking these PS1 one games? Why aren’t we seeing big first party blockbusters that made the console famous?
Also why is it we get the update post a day after the update actually occured.
This is supposed to be “the blog” for SCEE but it rarely has anything you haven’t seen elsewhere 4 days earlier.
Someone needs to take a long hard look at threespeech and decided if its worth it.
….still no SF2HDR

I want to see Threespeech get involved in answering the PS3’s community’s complaints about missing games. There’s absolutley no reason why they can’t publish an offical explanation from someone at SCEE that amounts to more than ‘We’re working on it’.
What’s needed is someone at SCEE to say “We know you want HD Remix and the other games and we’re sorry. Here’s why they’re not online yet and this is the date they’ll be up”.
If they (for some reason) can’t give a date they should be explaining why they can’t.
It’s what Rockstar did when GTA4 was delayed and the community accepted it. Be honest with us Sony!
It’s really not too muich to ask. We’ve all be complaining for weeks.
Comment by MartinSFP — Jan 23, 2009 @ 2:12 pm
@reakt,
It’s not even out that long, it only came out today here.
I’ve got Skate 2 sitting on my desk, I can’t wait to get it home. I guess the Skate 2 pack will be a must have.
Comment by John — Jan 23, 2009 @ 2:14 pm
Ah I see, the Time is Money pack, is to unlock everything in the game, which normally you could do by playing it.
So I won’t be buying it, and I can understand why it’s out at launch.
Comment by John — Jan 23, 2009 @ 2:17 pm
@John - OK, thanks for the clarification - I withdraw my complain then! The pack is only intended for lazy gamers who can’t be bothered to actually play the game!
Comment by reakt — Jan 23, 2009 @ 2:33 pm
On another side note, the Far Cry 2 Home space is now available to EU Users. Check it out!
Comment by Peter — Jan 23, 2009 @ 3:19 pm
Recently I had to start to validate my wage, as with the recession, job cuts are being made all over the globe. Maybe the SCEE staff in charge of the PSN would agree with me that it’d be easier to hand control of the SCEE PSN over to SCEA, rendering SCEE PSN staff redundant and saving Sony money in the process, after all, everyone wants to save money right now.
Comment by The-Unknown — Jan 23, 2009 @ 3:39 pm
I love the store!

@mullarted : If you find the site irrelevant, then don’t visit. Vote with your browser.
I was tempted to add and extra “e” and and “ard”, but then remembered that I am quite a bit older than a child.
Comment by CartBlanche — Jan 23, 2009 @ 4:06 pm
the price on Tom Clancys Endwar is obscene, the RRP for it is 29.99, i asked in blockbusters at lunch today. may give the FEAR2 demo a try.
picked up PURE yesterday for a princely 18 squid, and dare i say it, i think it’s more fun than MotorStorm:PR… the graphics are definately better, damn it looks good, plus the build your own ATV section too. worth getting.
*runs off and hides from angry Stormers*
anyone read the FUEL preview in OPM yet? i nearly wet meself.
a free roaming area the size of Northern Island!?
100,000kms of road systems!!
persistant online mode!!! 40km draw distance!!!!
eep! definately on the list.

@ reakt & John -
The Skate 2 DLC is NOT a pack or an add-on.
All the content is on the disc - but being a game and being a challenge - you have to unlock this as you progress to keep the game fresh.
All the ‘Time is Money’ update does, as the name suggests, is save you time by unlocking it all from the start so you don’t need to earn anything. It’s essentially a paid-for 100% complete cheat code!
I personally don’t understand why anyone would pay for a game and then pay to unlock everything, as it takes the enjoyment out of it. But they did this for Need for Speed a few months back, so it obviously worked as they’re doing it again.
I just hope the discription in the actual store is better - it should be made perfectly clear that this is a disc unlock code and contains no new content.
I was wondering why you would issue this at launch, it’s the type of thing that would make more sense releasing a few months down the line for people who have unlocked what they can and have got stuck or moved on - it will encourage them to revisit the bits they missed.
But then in dawned on me - this is probably a really clever way for EA to skim a bit of cash off the rental market. People who buy the game give EA money and have the time to unlock content, the renters out there are bound to have an effect on sales, but at the same time they get less time to explore - so they slip EA a fiver of what is essentially pure margin and they let you play with all the content on the disc before you return it to the rental place.
Just my theory, but it seems plausible…

Another comically bad update. Well done SCEE, start as you will surely go on.
I think it’s safe to assume now that SF2HD is cancelled for Europe on PS3. SF4 will be out shortly so the window of opportunity is now gone for SF2.
I don’t understand why there is so little content for the PS1 and PSP on the store. It can’t be hard to prep these games for digital distribution, and to price them sensibly. Here’s a hint Sony the price should be MUCH LOWER than a retail disc. But then when did Sony ever show even the slightest understanding of how to run an online service.

This is unbelievable! I was so excited at the idea of FINALLY getting Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 1. But when I got home from work and logged into the Store, it wasn’t even there!
Everything else from Demos down to the bottom of the list was there, but not the only thing that matters: the GAMES.
I’m in Belgium, BE-FR market. PENNY ARCADE ADVENTURES IS NOT OUT HERE! IT’S A FRIGGIN LIE!

In two weeks my ‘Store appreciation will increase many times over.
I’ve just changed my mind, and bought “Guitar Hero [IV]: World Tour” (the Complete Band edition)… just in time for “Rock Band 2″ to be released in the UK (just 2-ish months after the US this time around).
Well, OK, the current economic climate forcing retailers to make drastic cuts in prices was the main deciding factor.
If only every vendor offering games related material would follow this lead (guitar)
Re: “Far Cry 2(tm)” PlayStation(r)Home World Map locations… wait for the “Uncharted” rooms (”Sully’s Bar”, “Artifact Room”, “Smuggler’s Den”, & “Archives”) are far better. There are, for example, things to do other than stand in a group & running on the spot.
The US Home experience is also expecting a “Café” download (or “a public space for everyone’s enjoyment” as it is described in the official US Forum messages). The Japanese Home Stores [;)] have the better selection of goodies to buy in the environment though.

PlayStation Network Online Report Card
Yep, you can get online and play plenty of games, but how easy is it?
by Sam Bishop
[The Core Experience]
Grade: C+
Notes: The PlayStation 3 plays well with others and seems to be eager to constantly grow and expand its basic skills. It’s always been a pleasant, simple kind of interaction thanks to being neatly organized, but ever since enrolling in class, it’s been rather slow in actually learning new things, making all that eagerness admirable, but ultimately a little misguided. Being able to play with its youngest brother’s toys is nice, but why not the middle child’s?
[Online Features]
Grade: B-
Notes: While progress is being made, the PlayStation 3 seems to have issues with consistency. It’s as if it can’t seem to do the same basic tasks while performing more advanced ones. Fellow classmate the 360 may not be able to do everything the PS3 can, but it can handle all duties equally no matter what it’s doing. Improvements are certainly happening — often swiftly — but it almost feels like the young PS3 is just trying to copy its classmate’s actions rather than fully understanding the advantages of being able to do everything while doing those new actions.
[Patches/Updates]
Grade: B
Notes: Young PS3 seems to have a particularly frustrating quirk: when taking building blocks out to play with, it must first grab every block, move it near its lap and then start building instead of just grabbing a handful and starting the building process. Moreover, it seems that increasingly, just trying to start playing with a toy first requires a rather lethargic act of first double-checking that everything is perfect before beginning. If it’s not, PS3 seems to take far longer than other classmates to get its ducks in a row.
[Variety]
Grade: B+
Notes: Of all the complements that could be showered over the PS3, its well-rounded nature is probably the most glowing. It plays well with just about every classmate (though the Japanese foreign exchange student with the spiky hair and questionable gender seems to be staying well clear), and seems poised to become even more diverse in its tastes in the future. There’s still room for improvement, especially in sharing its younger brothers’ toys with everyone else, but of all the qualities the PS3 offers, this is easily one of the best.
[Overall Grade]
Grade: B
Notes: The PlayStation 3 has so much potential. If only it would apply itself a little more. It’s clearly capable of great things, but without improving on some of the key areas outlined above, it’ll never reach that potential. Also, something really must be done about getting it into a bigger class size. Perhaps we should speak with the school about lowering tuition costs…

I noticed an exciting price reduction on the store at thee weekend - GT: Proligue down to under £20 - wow, what a bargain, a digital copy for under a score……or I could order a physical copy online for £12.73
Good to see SCEE have a finger on the pulse
Having said that I believe i also noted that Warhawk was down to £14.99 - now that is an actual bargain!
still no lumines though……..
