2008 is nearly over. It’s been a big year for the PlayStation, with lots of exciting games coming out, lots of developments to the firmware and lots of new features on the PSN. We’ve got an article coming up which explores some of the finer points of the year, but we want your opinions too, ’cause we love ya…
So, to start with, what was your favourite game of 2008?
Deadspace!
Comment by Nick — Dec 16, 2008 @ 5:28 pm
Valkyria Chronicles!
But I’d vote for WipEout!
Comment by Tom — Dec 16, 2008 @ 5:29 pm
Race Driver GRID
Comment by Neil — Dec 16, 2008 @ 5:30 pm
Warhawk: Operation Broken mirror and Warhawk patch 1.3. Yes, I’m voting for an add on, because LBP and GTA4 were underwhealming and I haven’t played the others, though I’m sure they are good.

MGS for me, simply immense single player.

LBP and WipeOut HD were pretty good though.

feeling the love for VC here, it’s a great game!
shame only 6 people ever bought it.
but Battlefield: Bad Company.
or GRiD
or Midnight Club: LA
and whose going to admit to being ‘mobilebone’
whoever it is is behind the
before the year ends?
news as i forgave LBP a couple of weeks ago -heh-
your mocking irony is powerless now my friend.

best ps3 game……well……Metal Gear yes…but…..I was a big fan of Dead Space….although not strictly “ps3″
Comment by JohnSketch — Dec 16, 2008 @ 9:59 pm
I’d say MGS4 but Dead Space as a close second (ok maybe third ;).
Comment by FluBBa — Dec 16, 2008 @ 10:08 pm
metal gear solid 4, best game ever. If it was the only game coming out to the ps3 ever, it would probably be worth it.
Comment by BlueViper — Dec 16, 2008 @ 11:55 pm
MGS4 without doubt. one of the best games i’ve ever played… LBP and MS:PR definitely close… but MGS was immense

Well seeing as Haze was the biggest piece of sh!t I’ve ever played, it has got to be LBP!! I’m still enjoying it now! I’m also enjoying Resistance 2, however, the AI at times lets it down for me. Still quality fun though! I got Fallout 3 on X360 but not really had chance to get stuck in yet!
Comment by Monkey Rimmer — Dec 17, 2008 @ 9:22 am
It’s a shame that there’s no option for “Valkyria Chronicles” in this vote…
for me it is/was definitely one of the best games of 2008 on the PS3 - followed by Fallout 3.
By the way:
In my opinion the best PS2-game this year was the EU-release of Persona 3!
Comment by codshin — Dec 17, 2008 @ 10:09 am
@codshin
Yakuza 2 was my best ps2 game…
Comment by Mr.Monkey — Dec 17, 2008 @ 10:38 am
Devil May Cry 4
Hevenly Sword
Comment by Uncutversion — Dec 17, 2008 @ 11:46 am
MotorStorm 2 deserves to be on this list, awesome game. But I think LBP deserves the win.

Although not an exclusive PS3 title I have spent many, many, many long hours playing “Burnout Paradise” (and all the free downloadable content). No doubt this will continue throughout 2009 with the new expansions planned by Criterion Games.
I have enjoyed almost as much of my gaming time with “Pain” (available from the PlayStation Network [PSN]), again, with added game-play due to additional downloadable content/characters.
In the last few months, however, these two titles have taken a side-line for “Killzone 2″ & “LittleBIGPlanet”.
If you still haven’t bought into The Adventures of Sackboy, or you need another copy (of few) as a Christmas gift, there is still time before next Thursday to have one delivered for £17.99 + £1.99 postage:

My other favourites from the year:
“PixelJunk Monsters” [PSN]
“Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (Online)” [PSN]
and non-PS3 exclusives worthy of mention…
“The Club”
“Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2”
“Race Driver GRID”
“Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy”
“Soul Calibur IV”

Had to vote for GT5: Prologue, simply because it is the game I have played the most, and was a bragin at £19, ‘demo’, alpha, beta or whatnot!
Comment by Obli — Dec 17, 2008 @ 4:03 pm
Fallout 3 gets my vote for Best, but Pixel Junk Monsters was definitely the most played game on my PS3 in 08.

There’s no way I can vote for any of those options when Valkyria Chronicles is permanently in my PS3.
