“Hey top, what’s the op?”
As part of the ’silver screen’ advertising promotion Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is currently running in cinemas around the UK, there will be a special screening of the 1986 blockbuster movie ‘Aliens’ in the VUE Cinema at Leicester Square on Thursday, December 4. We’re giving away 35 pairs of last-minute screening tickets to loyal Killzone.com members and their friends.
“There’s somethin’ movin’ and it ain’t us!”
Of course, PlayStation will have a presence at the event as well. From 6 PM onwards, there will be real-life Helghast soldiers patrolling the VUE Cinema for photo opportunities, and the bar area will be outfitted with ten PlayStation 3 demo pods containing the Killzone 2 campaign mode. That’s right – you could go hands-on with the sci-fi action shooter of 2009 before anyone else in the UK!
“Oh, you want some of this?”
So what do you have to do for a chance to win tickets to this exclusive event? For starters, you must be a resident of the UK over the age of 18, and a registered member of Killzone.com. If you meet these qualifications, simply send an e-mail to competitionsuk@scee.net with your full name and age in the message body. If your e-mail entry is selected, you will be contacted by Sony with further details.
“Anytime, anywhere, man!”
The screening event will be held TODAY and begin at 6 PM. The VUE Cinema is located at 3 Cranbourn Street, Leicester Square, London. Please note that attendees will have to travel to and from this location at their own expenses! Make sure you can attend before you enter.
And remember:
“Stay frosty, marines!”
Just sent mine off!

“We’re giving away 35 pairs of last-minute screening tickets to loyal Killzone.com members and their friends.” Yes, it’s certainly last-minute. Don’t know about other Three Speech readers but I need 24 hours notice in order to go to London for a night out. Thanks anyway guys.

…There’s nothing like advance warning…
(And that’s nothing like adv… etc.)
I can neither confirm nor deny the content of “Killzone 2″, but the online multiplayer (so I’m told by a very close “friend”) is excellent and even though “Resistance 2″ has been out for almost a week the same “friend” is spending more time with “Killzone 2″ than anything else. So I believe.
PS. Now that the Portable PSN Id (”Gamer Cards”) can be seen online how transparent will Beta Test programme members at any given time?
PPS. Out next week on the ‘Store…

The online multiplayer can be very savage, think the D Day Landings in a space only 200metres square with just 32 -players letting off rockets, grenades, shotguns, snipers all over the place, air support machines raining hot lead in your body, and while dying someone comes upto you and uses the rifle/gun butt to your face to make sure your dead(they ought to include knives when you run out of ammo though….), savage….very savage - but oh so Gooooooooooood!

Speaking of Aliens, that Sega published, Gearbox developed Aliens Fps is out next year is it not?
*drools* been waiting since it was announced in 2006/7
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Dec 5, 2008 @ 9:26 am
Do you mean “Aliens: Colonial Marines”?
According to Amazon that’s now due at the end of January, and Play.com say end of March 2009.
Good things are worth waiting for (apparently).
Mediocre things, well… See my “Twelve Months of PlayStation” in the “The PSN update!!!” blog entry. Oh no, you cannot. I posted at 9:37pm (GMT) yesterday & it hasn’t left the moderation queue yet.
The curse of the Ubisoft over-hyped game with the lack of playable demo strikes again?
I have a feeling the GBP 39.99 Play.com price may fall soon…

Review Score: (a disappointing) 6.6

… Ahhh… deep breath. Criticisms out of the way, there’s still some enjoyment to be had in Prince of Persia. The plot and narrative - if you can look past the whiny, annoying American Prince - is fairly rich and worth seeing through to the (sadly swift arriving) conclusion.
Plus the visuals are obviously frickin’ gorgeous. The environments are a joy to look at and varied throughout, even if you’re essentially doing the same on-rails platforming moves off of different shaped columns.
PS3 and Xbox 360 owners who’ve never played any of the older Persia games might even wonder where all this negativity has come from, but for those who know the joy of the last-gen classics the Fresh Prince is quite simply a great big step, swing and hop, or button press, in the wrong direction for us.

I’ll try again with my “Twelve Months of PlayStation”:
On the first day of Christmas my three love gave to me…
One global store.
Two hard it seems.
Three Speech is quiet.
Four what it’s worth.
Fifth Amendment quoted.
SixAxis in hand.
Seven days to wait.
Eight all my words.
Nein, not again!
Tentative date.
Eleventh month already?
Twelve more months to wait.
There’s… no… place… like… Home.
etc.

I got the Play Dot Com LE of PoP, the box is really lush, the classic skin of the prince looks dodgy tho, the Faria skin looks great…
have a Google for the unlock codes
I am loving it so far, didn’t like the voice acting for the Prince at first, but twigged its the same guy as Nick Drake, in Uncharted so I warmed up to him a bit more…
Combats fine, the “puzzle” element of movement could of been beefed up a bit, thats my only gripe so far, I regard it as a “keeper” but I subscribe to the “Games as Art” train of thought
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Dec 5, 2008 @ 3:42 pm
Not that bothered if the price drops, but am miffed @ the Lbp price drop with Nariko@play…
Going to have to stop buying games at launch next year. hmmm… that could be my resolution
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Dec 5, 2008 @ 3:51 pm
The video games market must be in freefall at present with retailers desperately trying to gain some revenue, or sell off rafts of stocks to claw back some of their outlay rather than having the items sat in piles gathering dust.
Good for the consumer in the long-run, but very annoying if you’ve already done most, if not all, of your Christmas shopping already
Pre-ordering titles now is definitely going to be avoided at the very least.
So in summary…
“Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2″ [PS3] for £17.99 from Play[dot]com on 13 November 2008, pre-ordering “LittleBIGPlanet” for £39.99 at Play[dot]com earlier this year, followed by two additional purchases of the same title again, at Play.com, for £29[dot]99 a week after release (to then find it down to near £22 at Amazon days later).
Or perhaps £24.99 for two “Soul Calibur IV” [PS3] titles from Argos to then see Play[dot]com list at £17.99 the next day.
Or even £29.99 for “Midnight Club: Los Angeles” [PS3] from GAME (with a voucher code) , or “Saints Row 2″ [PS3] from Argos for £19.99, or “Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway” pre-owned at £26.99 days before it fell to £19.99 at Play[dot]com (from £39.99) with a free T-Shirt!
I even ordered “Bioshock” [PS3] from Amazon on 30 November for £22.97. £17.99 at Play[dot] now! Yes, I finally gave in & bought it. Still unopened mind.
The only real bargain I’ve had recently was “Dragon Ball Z® : Burst Limit” [PS3] for £13.44 using a 10% discount during TheHut[dot]com’s “lunchtime special” offer.
Waiting is not over-rated!
Before it went out of stock, my (pre-ordered) Collector’s Edition of “Quantum of Solace” [PS3] had dropped a fiver at GameStation, and now it is back in stock at the new-VAT friendly price with another quid off!… and I haven’t opened my copy yet
PS. GameStation have the UK Exclusive rights to sell this format… so the price may stay around £45 for a while.
And just this week the “WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009″ [PS3] I bought pre-owned a few weeks ago has dropped £7.50 at GAME (online).
However, waiting for the “Tomb Raider: Underworld” GAME Exclusive Limited Edition to fall in price has “paid off”; currently £24.46 for both the standard & Limited Edition variants (down from £39.99). And 9% QuidCo off this too.
You watch… next week GameStation will have this at £19.99.
The GAME Exclusive (and official) Special Edition of “Far Cry 2” dropped from £49.99 to £32.99 in-store last Friday, too, btw.
Ho ho ho hum. Happy bloomin’ Christmas. etc.

fp.
