Time to get yourself a portable ID…
SCEE has introduced it’s own portable PSN ID. Log on to secure.eu.playstation.com/sign-in/ with your PSN ID and create your own ‘Portable ID’. At the moment you can use it to do stuff like customize your background, find online friends, show your mood, and register for prizes and so on. There are more features on the horizon too, so it’s looking pretty good. If we were you, we’d go and set one up straightaway - so go on! Then come back and tell us what you think. Do you agree with Sarcastic Gamer? Does it look better?
MyPSN……..
Suspiciously similar to the whole XBOX Live thing that some guy named microsoft did once

hopefully soon they will do a proper stats / personal / trophy page for us.
Comment by komp — Dec 1, 2008 @ 7:12 pm
So as of now, we can only pick First Party Sony games? I’m only getting the option to pick LBP, Singstar, Socom and Resistance.
Comment by V — Dec 1, 2008 @ 7:21 pm
Why do Xbox trolls even read PS3 news? I don’t even care about Xbox news let along want to flame Xbox blogs.
Anyways, it would be nice for Sony to finally integrate your PSN ID on 3 platforms, the PS3, PSP and web. So far that is one more platform then Microsoft supports ( in case you Xboys can’t count, Microsoft doesn’t have a portable game platform yet, or ever).
Comment by Topher08 — Dec 1, 2008 @ 7:32 pm
I suspect Trophy listings/game history will be added in due course, as will the ability to interact with your friends list from your PC (and click to view their MyPSN page). Also the Portable ID needs to show your trophy totals and online status (which it hints will be coming eventually).
Until those features are added it’s not all that useful. A step in the right direction though…
Is this separate to the recently announced US PlayStation site revamp and PSN integration?

Check out the text on the ‘My Games’ tab of MyPSN…
“Over time, the Portable ID will evolve to include Trophies and achievements, so keep an eye on eu.playstation.com for updates.”

As mentioned on the US Sign-up page…
“Show off your Portable ID on your favortie social networks”
Not quite sure what a “favortie” is. Can anybody help me out here?
(Yes… which way did you come in?)
This month or, indeed, this Thursday we should expect to (finally) see “Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer” & “Super Stardust PSP” on the ‘Store.
“Savage Moon” sometime this month too.
Has there been an official announcement about “SOCOM: (U.S. Navy SEALs) Confrontation” being pushed back (in Europe) to next February?
Won’t that clash with the “Resistance 2″-beating “Killzone 2″?
Finally, interesting time with “Playstation Home” yesterday…
Togged-up as a male SIMS character meant everybody ignored the on-screen character.
But back to the virtual wardrobe & a quick gender change & every male geek from the local area started to quote Austin Powers line about the swallow bird & the bird on a spit, or some mixture of French using the words ‘lick’ & ’sac’.
Thank goodness the Beta is for participants aged 18+.
Imagine the comments that would be seen if the intended user-base had got their hands on it!
Right… I’m off to play “Resistance 2″ online. I see two of my PSN Friends are currently doing so. If only I could send them a message to tell them I’m coming.
(No, wait, I’m still reading the Home comments. There’s no place like it, apparently)

I type my email and password and it says a field is missing!
Anyone else having problems?
I also got an email like this theo ther day from playstation.com for a transfer there and that went smoothly.. but that is technically the american site?
Confused!
Comment by Ricky — Dec 1, 2008 @ 11:50 pm
I’ve got mine. When will be able to use them here, three speech?
@Ricky - yes I had the problem. I logged out of the official forums then I went to the page to sign in for my portable ID again (secure.eu.playstation.com/sign-in/ )
After that I found that I didn’t need to transfer anything - the portable ID is there.
Comment by reakt — Dec 2, 2008 @ 9:52 am
Hmm, my account transferred over; but it seems as though it only realises I have the PS2 that was associated with my playstation.com account; and is ignoring the PSP/PS3 that are associated with my PSN account.
Comment by Nathan — Dec 2, 2008 @ 2:21 pm
Slight problem on mine, when i try to add my PSP it says the serial number and model don’t match and it won’t let me add it…. (I haven’t typed it wrong)

@Three Speech - you can officially start your HOME hype machine now. Now that I’ve gotten a beta invite I mean
It will be open “within weeks” and “before Christmas” so what are you waiting for? So can we have some articles about HOME please as I’d like to discuss it amongst adults. The official forum is just full of kids (no doubt they lied when creating their PSN account and were therefore allowed to join in). At the moment Home is a bit of a sausage-fest with the one or two females being followed around and harassed by hordes of teenage boys (as fanpages found out during his transgender-adventure). However, I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far with the best feature being the in-game launching - find some people to play against, talk to them and then create a game and invite them - simple yet brilliant. Of course Warhawk is the only game currently supported. What a coincidence then that this is my favourite multiplayer game. I’m sure support for launching more games from within HOME will be added soon. I hope that LBP is next up.

@ Rob - same problem here with the PSP, model PSP-2003 doesn’t match serial number. also it wouldn’t transfer my details from old account
and favorite games needs sorting out too. i had to lie and picked MS:PR

I heard that the PAL sign-in is implemented slightly better than the US one! Makes a change…
Also I fail to see JohnSketch as a xbox troll since he owns both machines and thus can give a informed opinion of his experiences…. Just like he said this a rip off of what Ms already do, but it’s a step in the right direction…
As Ms have their online polished to a blinding sheen while Sony are still catching up…
You can now queue up titles to download on the Marketplace website, and soon as log into your machine they will start downloading…
Scee on the otherhand have just binned the PC store and since I don’t have wireless internet I can only download stuff for my Psp through the Ps3 now… Lucky I own both as I would miffed if I only owned a Psp…
Also I was surprised to find there is no-way to ad-hoc your psp to connect to Ps3 in-order to connect to the internet not just remote play, something which is standard on a Japanese Psp + Ps3 combo…
Comment by Mr.Monkey — Dec 2, 2008 @ 6:50 pm
The MyGames area seems like it needs some work… I should be able to scan through and select multiple games and add them all at once.
As well… the formatting of the text on the game seems all wrong.
Comment by shane — Dec 2, 2008 @ 7:09 pm
Also just like to add incase you think I’m trolling… Its not all sunshine and lollypops with Ms, as to queue downloads on Pc you need the explorer only plug-in silverlight, which as a firefox user gets my goat up…
Also since the Nxe update the Uk marketplace can take ages to load up “featured downloads” for anything… while on my Alt US account the same thing on the US marketplace (using the same Uk Isp) takes about a second…

Cheers Monkey!
And to those who toot the fanboy horn - Just because Microsoft did it, does “NOT” mean sony cannot do it to an equal or better quality

there should be some kind of bug reporting system…

Makes me laugh! Every time some idiot comes on this site and throws the troll card down even though it’s their first visit and have no knowledge at all about whom they are insulting.
I mean I don’t think I have ever seen a comment by Topher08 before and I read the comments on this site near enough everyday, and yet here he is trolling himself.

anyway, calling mr sketch a troll just because he has to live in a cave.. borderline racism if you ask me

The lies people tell to make their property sound more attractive at this time! You’ll be saying next that the red stains on the floor are not from a family of goats called Gruff
@12 [reakt]:
As a participant within the PlayStation Home (Beta/Trial/Invitation) programme, I’m sure you do not need reminding that “all discussions of your experiences within Home limited to the official SCEE forums or within Home itself”.
We can discuss statements released to the public though…

Red Bull to be first company to charge into Home
Posted Dec 2nd 2008 7:00PM by Jem Alexander
The first third-party partner for Home, Sony’s upcoming social networking platform, has been revealed. Revolution is reporting that Red Bull will have its own Home space, dedicated to the real-life Red Bull Air Race. The space will include “an aeroplane racing game based on Red Bull’s real world Red Bull Air Race series.”
The brand marketing manager for Red Bull UK, John Beasley, says “the game gave us the first opportunity to recreate in the gaming world what we try to do in the real world, which is to facilitate interaction, to give people stories, memories, experiences and a really good opportunity to interact with the brand.” Calling Home an “easy environment for brands to take that first step into gaming.” No doubt that means we’ll be seeing a lot more non-gaming brands coming to Home in the future.
If you want to know more about some of Home’s upcoming content be sure to check back with us later in the month.

Home beta down Thursday morning for mall stock taking
Posted Dec 3rd 2008 9:00PM by Jem Alexander
As we inch ever closer to Home’s open beta phase, when the PSN’s unwashed masses finally gain entrance, it’s clear that preparations are being made for the big day (whenever that may be) behind the scenes. Home producers both sides of the pond have revealed that there will be some server downtime tonight, as they do some jiggery-pokery. The downtime will occur between 2am and 9am EST (7am to Midday GMT).
When they come back up the Mall (or Shopping Centre, in Europe) will be full of purchasable items. While they’re technically pay-for items, they will be free to grab for everyone in the closed beta for a limited period and will carry over into the open beta. We have no idea when that will be, so make sure you go ahead and grab them ASAP, just in case. We’re assured that if you miss out on getting these items for free, their full price will be pretty cheap and they will “continue to have free items in Home on a regular basis.”

@fp - well this is technically a semi-official scee forum so I’m sure they won’t mind. The official SCEE forum for HOME they refer to was private and only accessible by beta participants. It’s now open to all. Besides I’m sure I haven’t yet revealed anything that’s not already public knowledge.
