Capcom revealed last week that the Collector’s Edition of Resident Evil 5 will include loads of goodies, including a 32-page colour art book and (most excitingly) a 2 GB USB drive and waist pouch, designed to look like in-game items. We’ll be wearing our waist pouch permanently - don’t try and stop us.
PS3 owners can also look forward to some special ‘making-of’ video content. Capcom is really excited about this, describing it as the first Blu-ray game hybrid.
What do you think? Will you be getting a copy? Can anyone suggest an earlier example of a Blu-ray & game hybrid?
SIREN: Blood Curse lets you launch the behind-the-scenes documentary directly from the Video category of the XMB but I don’t think the video will play on a regular Blu-ray player.

This IS good, but xbox 360 owners get the soundtrack so no-one is losing out. Why cant we get all of that included on the Blu-Ray? there is room for sure

It’s a interesting announcement and hints at what Kaz Hirai said about devs using Blu-ray to bring PS3 owners extra stuff on the disc.
It will be interesting to see how this works - if it is a true Blu-ray hybrid it will be interesting to see if you access the video portion from the XMB Video section as opposed to an in-game menu (which has been done already). It will be also interesting to see if it plays on a regular Blu-ray player.
Should be good, apparently it’s Hollywood standard and not the usual shoddy collection of low-quality video clips you get on most SE additional discs.
It’s worth noting though that the CD soundtrack 360 version is a Limited Edition for the first batch, whereas the PS3 documentary is part of the PS3 master of the game and will be included on the game disc indefinitely.

OK, so the details of Japanese Limited Edition of “Biohazard 5″ have been made public…

What about the European edition of “Resident Evil 5″?
I’ve not heard Capcom announce anything about that.

xbox 360 gamers, dont need to stress, because i have been a sure that,RE5 will run at a much steady framerate on the xbox 360!PS3 version is running 25% of the time below 30frames!on the other hand its state that the xbox 360 version runs 95% at steady 30frames!you will verify this wend the demo is out!

Isn’t the demo RE5 coming out on Live before PSN? Pretty sure it is in Japan any rate. If it is this is yet another huge failure by Sony, the mother of all wasted opportunities. Are SCE’s management really that out of touch? It seems to me they really have no idea what is going on.

Dead Space had a hybrid feature, but it wasn’t video+game. Rather, it was demos+game. Still, it proves that the concept works.

Stranglehold had Boiling Point included? Don’t know if it was on the same disc as I rented it on 360 ages ago, and it was pants compared to Max Payne
Have a feeling the PS3 version of Resi will only be @ 720p so 360 version for me yet again…
Hardware upscaling FTW

Stranglehold Collectors Edition included the full Hard Boiled movie.

quantum of solace tin edition was a hybrid, you could access special behind the scenes features in the video section of the xmb in HD.

If Sony don’t get the demo at least at the same time as xbox they really have screwed up considering this game began with Sony and before it became multplatform was a big reason I got the PS3. The full potential of Blu-ray is rarely being used becasue games are designed to fit on a DVD for the 360.

@10(me)
Hard Boiled, not Boiling Point as #12 said…

I own Stranglehold Collector’s Edition (US version) and it has the movie Hard Boiled included, yes, but this one is only accessible from the game menus. So, can we consider it as an hybrid blu-ray?

Sorry, ps3 freak, could you expand on what you typed; perhaps with some punctuation & a few more vowels?
I would like to understand your point, but I think I am missing it at present.
Thanks.
