It’s the Prince of Persia launch day today and PS3 Attitude has got lots going on to celebrate! First there is the chance to enter a competition which has got some frankly brilliant prizes. These prize packs include a copy of Prince of Persia for your PS3, a Collectors Edition game guide, a book, stickers, t-shirts AND a poster!
As well as the competition there is also the chance to reminisce over the history of Prince of Persia in a retrospective article AND there is a great interview with Ubisoft which will answer any questions you may have on the game, including the all important “New Prince Vs. Old Prince – who would win in a fight…?”
I’m just proving I have no life….
I’m a bit weary regarding this new Prince of Persia….
The Original last gen trilogy just….did…it…soooo..welllll

Don’t be wary - read our review at PS3 Attitude too for a full and frank description of the game…

I agree Mr Sketch. The last-gen Trilogy is very recommended. Well, by me, anyway.
And I bet you can’t wait for the movie next year…
PS. Three Speech:
Check the “retrospective” link. Broken.
Hope the game isn’t.
Ubisoft have a habit of hyping-up titles & not releasing playable demos…

@2 [DolphGB @ PS3 Attitude}:
ComputerAndVideoGames were not as impressed.
Is it true you cannot die in the new game?

Review Score: (a disappointing) 6.6

… Ahhh… deep breath. Criticisms out of the way, there’s still some enjoyment to be had in Prince of Persia. The plot and narrative - if you can look past the whiny, annoying American Prince - is fairly rich and worth seeing through to the (sadly swift arriving) conclusion.
Plus the visuals are obviously frickin’ gorgeous. The environments are a joy to look at and varied throughout, even if you’re essentially doing the same on-rails platforming moves off of different shaped columns.
PS3 and Xbox 360 owners who’ve never played any of the older Persia games might even wonder where all this negativity has come from, but for those who know the joy of the last-gen classics the Fresh Prince is quite simply a great big step, swing and hop, or button press, in the wrong direction for us.

I’ve followed the whole Prince of Persia series but it hasn’t been until this game where I’ve become really excited for it. I’ll be picking up my copy next week.

Copy & paste of what I wrote earlier in another post…
“I got the Play Dot Com LE of PoP, the box is really lush, the classic skin of the prince looks dodgy tho, the Faria skin looks great…
have a Google for the unlock codes
I am loving it so far, didn’t like the voice acting for the Prince at first, but twigged its the same guy as Nick Drake, in Uncharted so I warmed up to him a bit more…
Combats fine, the “puzzle” element of movement could of been beefed up a bit, thats my only gripe so far, I regard it as a “keeper” but I subscribe to the “Games as Art” train of thought”
The only thing I got to add to that is….
I regard the new PoP as a “coffee table” game, defs a keeper for me, also the beefy arms on the Altair skin look wrong too…
And yes you can’t die, its a tad cheesy how thats done, but you will be greatful when you miss that jump!
Comment by Mr.Monkey — Dec 5, 2008 @ 7:23 pm
Actually my last sentence made my think, that was the nerve jangling joy of the original 2D PoPs, if you missed-read a jump you were dead….
Thinking about it, if the number of times I could be “saved” was more limited that would make this new one a lot better as at the moment the consequences of failure are not there…
The collect sand to get rewind mechanic worked in the last 3 games, that could of been mirrored with the collect light seeds in this one…

:eyeroll: my grammar is getting really bad…

You’re right… you should visit your grandparent more often especially if she is not well.
PoP’ing back in time…
Did you see the costume where you are dressed as Altaïr from “Assassin’s Creed”?

@fp
Yes have seen it as I said near the bottom of comment 5,
You unlock it by going online on the PAL 360 version, and logging onto the ubisoft server…
(don’t know about Ps3 version)
The classic skins were with the Play LE, but as I said you can just google the codes…
The arms are too bulky on Altair, he could pass as someone from Altairs Assassins order tho, and as for the classic prince the head just looks the wrong shape! He also looks like he is too bulky, and they have not bothered giving him a glove…
Both have the same face as the new prince…
The Faira skin is done very well, Just playing through normal skins at the moment and think you unlock the Jade skin from the under-rated Beyond Good and Evil when you finish the game…

@Fanpages
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the vast majority of people (and reviewers) are enjoying it. I’ve spoken to DolphGB about it (at length) and, though I’m sure he’ll pop up (no pun intended) and speak for himself, all I can offer is to say that it’s a very very good game.
It already has a metacritic score of 87% so - it sounds like it’s being well received.
Cheers!

…gets to door & realises they don’t open for another 11 hours, turns ’round & runs back again.
Scale a few buildings on the way & stab a knife into anybody you take a disliking to & you not only have a fairly regularly drunken Friday night out, but you also have 97% of “Assassin’s Creed” game-play. 98% if you went by horse. Another percentage point if you fell into some hay from four miles above it & ignoring the laws of physics (with respect to attraction to objects with a larger mass as you fall).
I won’t spoil the rest of the game. The second title in the series should provide you with the questions to the answers you haven’t found out yet.
[Mr M]:
Sorry, I was reading the blog comments on a mobile ‘phone screen at the time you wrote them & missed you already mentioning Altair’s physique had changed to match the body of the Prince in the upcoming movie…

you can unlock the Altair skin on Ps3 by going on ubisoftDOTcom and linking your ps3 to a ubisoft account, so I have heard.

Have you seen the teaser trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2? Think the game is due out this time next year or early 2010…
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Dec 6, 2008 @ 8:16 pm
@11 [Brodiesan]:
Yup, I agree… if everybody agreed then this blog would be such a one-sided affair (like some other PS3-biased blogs/sites).
I haven’t had first-hand experience of the title, but I hoped to play a demo version in advance of committing to a Blu-ray purchase.
I have bought so many titles in the last month, I can probably do without another… I only have a week off at Christmas for goodness sake!!!
@15 [Mr M.]:
Thanks. I think I already have an account on the site… I’ll check it out later.

A fair point. I hope you’re not including PS3 Attitude in that list of PS3-biased sites!
We tell it as it is. We’ve given PS3 games a hard time (where warranted) just as much as a non-PS3-centric site.
Comment by Brodie — Dec 10, 2008 @ 6:03 pm
To be fair, I haven’t been to your site that much, or as much as I would like to.
Reading the content of the number of PS3 (and general gaming) sites/blogs available is becoming a full-time job. (I wish!)
Well done for maintaining your principles, though.
It must be so easy to succumb to saying what is expected to ensure you remain on promotional item distribution lists from the various press offices.
I added my thoughts on maintaining such a (privately funded) site within the comments at the link below on 24 November…
