Who wants to win a SixAxis keypad add-on from The SixthAxis?
That’s right, it’s you…
Head over to The Sixth Axis and see if you can be the comedian you always longed to be by entering the competition they’re holding. Simply answer the question – “If you were building a home extension, what would you build?”
Have a look at what others are posting and see if you can come up with a better answer! Then come back here and make us proud (and give us a laugh) by telling us what your entry was.
But if you were building a Home extension, what would you build?
Answer:
Extra bog in the Kitchen, first one clogged

Going through the motions, I had to ask…
You’ve already got a bog in your kitchen to warrant an extra one?

My submission:
My “Home Extension” would be…
A Fancy Dress Shop run by a Fez-wearing slightly over-weight gentleman with dubious facial hair. The Shop would have a special “Magic Door”.
Through this door would be fourteen other entrances, each with varying tasks to complete in the style of “LittleBIGPlanet”.
(No, the shopkeeper has nothing to do with boys, their sacks, or anything suggestive of the rental arrangements of his establishment even in the current economic climate)
Each of the fourteen doors would have a title of one of the books written by David McKee about The Business Man character in black suit & bowler hat, ‘Mr Benn’ from 52 Festive Road.
The conclusion of each mini-game (beyond each door) would be the ownership of a memento that your Home(Sims-like)-self would retain for use elsewhere in the virtual social networking world (otherwise known as life, or sitting on-board any public transport watching everybody else tapping away at their mobile ‘phones, PDA devices, and handheld games consoles).
The door titles & their ultimate goals would be…
“The Red Knight”: A Box of matches
“The Big Game Hunter”: A Photograph
“The Cook”: A Wooden spoon
“The Caveman”: A Stone hammer
“The Balloonist”: A Medal
“The Zoo-Keeper”: A Parrot’s feather
“The Diver”: A Shell
“The Wizard”: A Jar
“The Cowboy”: A Sheriff’s badge
“The Clown”: A Red nose
“The Magic Carpet”: A Bottle stopper
“The Spaceman”: A Lump of rock
“The Pirate”: A Jolly Roger flag
“The Gladiator: A Whistle
Complete all fourteen games & you are also rewarded with an in-game T-Shirt bearing the image of Sackboy & the phrase:
“As if by magic, the Shopkeeper appeared”.
On the back would be the phrase “Smasher Lagru was innocent”. [Google it if you are younger than 30!]
If anybody stops you in “PlayStation(r)Home” & enquires upon the T-shirt (in the same way a bank teller or supermarket sales assistant has an “Ask me about…” badge) then your in-game character can hand-out vouchers to get discounted “LittleBIGPlanet” downloadable content from the PlayStation Store.
Maybe not funny,… but hopefully BIG & clever.

fp.

I don’t do funny so I’ve come up with an important suggestion to address a genuine problem.
The Shelter for the Homeless
I would build a shelter for the homeless folk in Home. Oh sure, right now everyone gets their own apartment space and even a summer house for free. When Home launches however, SCE have other plans and it’s going to be an entirely different matter altogether let me tell you! The economic climate and socio-economic structure in Home shall be linked to that of the World’s. Some will be wealthy, some will be poor. It shall be extremely difficult for the poorer Home-folk to get onto the housing ladder. So kiss goodbye to your dreams of that Harbour Studio apartment because unless you arrive with a silver spoon in your mouth, you’re going to be sleeping rough for your first few nights! Try your luck down at the Theatre for your first night. Some homeless Home-folk take a sleeping bag in there and pretend to watch the game trailers over and over whilst getting a bit of shut-eye before they’re escorted off the premises by security. You can also bunk down in Home square for a little while although those benches are not so comfy for sleeping on.
So what we need is a shelter for the homeless Home-folk I tell you! Just something basic with a few bunk beds and a soup kitchen - that’s not too much to ask is it? Volunteers at the shelter would also help the homeless to find jobs in their local community. After all, Home has plenty of vacancies for hard-workers - in fact come to think of it, there are no workers at all, anywhere! Once the doors open to the masses, Home isn’t going to stay neat and tidy for long. We need street-sweepers, gardeners, and cleaners, not to mention shop-workers. Let’s give those homeless Home-folk a chance to help themselves.
Yada yada, and is anyone still reading this?

Winner!
It took a long time to judge the entries, but my beautiful assistant and I finally picked our favourite five and ultimately the winner. Congratulations to Legroom, whose HomeBase is the winning entry. It made us laugh the most and was a wonderfully observed commentary on the state of British DIY! Please email michael [at] thesixthaxis [dot] com to claim your prize - remember you must email me from the same address you used when registering on the site.
The other four that made our list are: oMega-W’s Homestead, FudgeSticks’ LittleBigExtension, rothbury’s Home Economics, and nineself’s Homeopathy.
There were a number of other entries that we thought were great too, so again a big thanks to everyone that took the time to enter. Some of the entries were just too damn big and clever for us to understand, while one painted a fantastic picture we really liked.
