Comment by MrGilder — Nov 14, 2008 @ 3:10 pm
OK yeah I agree with number 1 but is it me or is it actually a few pence cheaper to by the 3 Oasis tracks seperately, than by the Track Pack?….. unless you get more in the track pack and I am missing something!

The pricing is a con and I will not be buying
Comment by DaveTheRave — Nov 14, 2008 @ 3:46 pm
im sorry Mrgilder
but im going to moan about the pricing, and no i will not buy them. LBP content too expensive! sort it out please.
other than that good update.
Comment by manley — Nov 14, 2008 @ 3:47 pm
You know an updates dull when they start with video content.
Comment by noboard — Nov 14, 2008 @ 4:03 pm
Good update.
I want to buy the LBP costumes, think £2.50 is fair enough for 4 outfits but when I went to buy it said that payment with Maestro card was under maintenance so didn’t work, and it waited until AFTER I’d typed in all my details before it told me too!
Some things are a bit pricey to be honest. I’d like all those Dead Space packs but I’m not spending all that. Should be £5 for ALL of it, it works out at around £20 to get all that, half the price of the actual game!!! As MrGilder said, if you aren’t happy with the prices don’t buy it. So I won’t!

Does anyone know if the CIV multiplayer maps work in single player?
Comment by John — Nov 14, 2008 @ 4:21 pm
I guess not, unless i want to play multiplayer by my self.
http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24134
I have never understood this assumption that people prefer to play mutliplayer. I much prefer to play against the computer than some 13 year old kid in Utah.
Comment by John — Nov 14, 2008 @ 4:35 pm
I think the pack price for the LBP costumes is fair enough. I won’t be adding funds to my PSN wallet just to buy them, but I will pick them up when I add funds for something else.
The LBP ‘Week 1′ T-shirt was ludicrously over-priced, though, as are the add-ons for Dead Space. Seriously, over £2 for a new paint job for your weapons, which you only see the back of for 99% of the game? Who’s crackpot idea was that?
Yes, I know you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want it, but that is SO not the point. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come with DLC on PSN.
So many devs could (and should) take lessons from Criterion and the approach they’ve taken with Burnout Paradise. They’ve gained a hell of a lot of respect for the major content additions they’ve given us for free, while others are charging ridiculous prices for the tiniest bits of content which have little or no impact on the game.
Comment by Paranoimia — Nov 14, 2008 @ 6:02 pm
@ Robothamster - Sony customer support tells me it’s a firmware issue with the Maestro cards, so don’t hold your breath on being able to buy anything soon.

No Capcom Store & no Age of Booty…
Yup I have much to fear for the upcoming Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix to be in time…
Don’t drop the ball again SCEE… please..
Comment by Stiekem — Nov 14, 2008 @ 6:48 pm
@11 [Paranoimia]:
I too am very grateful of Criterion Games’ past free contributions to extending the lifespan of “Burnout Paradise”. This is still a title I play at least on a weekly basis.
Unfortunately, as is the way of the world at this time, nobody can afford to work without getting paid, and the next updates will carry a price tag.
The “Party Pack” is due in February 2009, and as well as a downloadable option, the Blu-ray based game is going to be re-issued with all the updates to date as well as the new game-play mode where eight people gather around a console & participate in a “pass-the-controller” style challenge.
Look out for the “Legendary Cars” Game Pack that is due to be released in early 2009 also. Adding to the vehicle selection will be the “Jansen 88 Special” (or the DeLorean DMC-12 time machine from the “Back to the Future” movie series, if you prefer not to attract the wrong side of the law suit). And yes, it will include the flux capacity, 1.21 Gigawatts of power, and the ability to fly at 88mph (hence the name of the car, I guess).
Back to this week’s update…
I decided to buy “Dead Space” this week, but unfortunately I had missed the free offer of the downloadable Obsidian suit on the ‘Store. I was a little disappointed to see that it has now reverted to £3.19. Like the previous comments mentioned, to buy all the new add-ons is a serious investment… so much so, I doubt I’ll bother with any of them now.
I am still eager to support titles from development teams I have respect for, though, and I bought the new “Pain” content, and the “LittleBigPlanet” costumes.
I see the US ‘Store got a heap of downloadable content for “Need For Speed: Undercover”.
No doubt these files (again, a relatively huge investment compared to the initial outlay of the game) will be coming over our side of the Pond next week when the title is released in our territory…
Need for Speed: Undercover Aftermarket Body Kit Package (USD 2.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Aftermarket Hood, Spoilers & Exhaust Package (USD 2.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Aftermarket Wheels Package (USD 2.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Collector’s Edition Upgrade (USD 10.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Exotic Car Bundle (USD 7.50)
Need for Speed: Undercover Muscle Car Bundle (USD 5.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Paint and Vinyls Package (USD 2.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Pro Handling Bundle (USD 2.75)
Need for Speed: Undercover Pro Power Bundle (USD 3.75)
Need for Speed: Undercover Race Handling Bundle (USD 2.25)
Need for Speed: Undercover Race Power Bundle (USD 3.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Street Handling Bundle (USD 1.75)
Need for Speed: Undercover Street Power Bundle (USD 2.25)
Need for Speed: Undercover Tuner Car Bundle (USD 5.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Ultimate Performance Bundle (USD 10.00)
Need for Speed: Undercover Ultimate Visual Bundle (USD 5.00)
But no content for “MotorStorm Pacific Rift”… but I’m sure that’s planned for later too.
PS. @3 [Carl] The US got “Age of Booty” (for USD 9.99). Sounds like that may be a GBP 6.99 title when the promised re-aligning/convergence of the current independent regional approval process for the PlayStation Network titles for the respective UK & US regions starts. Right now Europe gets to wait an age, and then gets to pay more Booty.
I also read today that a Playable Demo for “Resident Evil 5” isn’t too far away either, & downloadable content is also “possible”!
I still have hopes for Playable Demos of “Far Cry 2”, “Street Fighter IV”, “Prince of Persia” & “Legendary”… but what we’ll probably find is “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” & a heap of wallpapers & themes to make our consoles more festive.
See you next week…
BFN,
fp.

I was reading up on the official forums with the meastro problem.
Apparently if you put a start date that is 3 years less than the expiry date, then it will work
Not had a chance to test it though. Maybe when something takes my eye ( i’m looking at you crash 3)

So, Xmas is here again and Sony starve PSN until this period of the year and then the update looks like it’s quite ‘generous’…pathetic tactics!
Comment by Zed Zee — Nov 17, 2008 @ 1:45 pm
Brilliant update but no demo!….why sony…..!
Comment by Bim — Nov 17, 2008 @ 5:39 pm
Another buying customer here voting with my wallet: didn’t buy any of the Deadspace or LBP ripoff… items.
A humble request for Sony: could you identify what game each icon is for? Right now one has to be intimately familiar with each and every game to recognize this item/addon/video/etc is for game X, while another item is for game Y. Confusing, not user friendly, and plain unprofessional presentation.
