Another week, no PS3 demos?…
Comment by Ricardo — Nov 20, 2008 @ 5:58 pm
Lots of stuff on it nice
BUT… was hoping Age Of Booty would make it over here by this week but I suppose it take ships longer to cross the Atlantic… and maybe even slower if they are seizing tankers on the way.

user created content they can’t take down
i am a naughty naughty monkey…
As for that NFS stuff, sorry but.. no wonder it’s getting slated in reviews, deservedly so for trying to pull a stunt like this!
please, anyone, just buy Midnight Club instead.
it’s damn good fun.
maybe they’re saving all the cool demos for the xmas period.

Seriously, please, somebody in Sony or something please take notice, Little Big Planet; great game lots of fun. On the back of my enjoyment I bought the add on packs last week without a moments hesitation… but really, 2.50 for a couple of skins, really though? Is that not just a tad greedy? Maybe just even a little bit?
Comment by IvanFoul — Nov 20, 2008 @ 6:39 pm
Wow, I gathered from last week that you dislike LBP mobiletone, but this week you’ve really shown the hate. Gotta say there are elements I cannot deny, the rest I may just have to remain in denial just for a little while longer.
Comment by IvanFoul — Nov 20, 2008 @ 6:42 pm
sim city woooooooo
Comment by Liquidcalm — Nov 20, 2008 @ 6:43 pm
The DLC for NFS:UC isn’t even someting new, it can all be unlocke during gameplay, and the combined price is higher than what the game costs - thats stealing, but no wonder its EA.
Think they are doing the same with LBP, charge us for custome packs, why not make a custome editor for us intead? That I would pay for - only custome I have bought was those they made for the first week.

Comment by WhiteWolfDK — Nov 20, 2008 @ 6:50 pm
@ IvanFoul - it’s satire! i dunno, maybe the new patch will make everything wonderful again and i can start enjoying the experience.
i rilly rilly loved LBP once, but it has been unfaithful, like a dirty cheating girlfriend and i don’t know if i can trust it again. that’s why i guess i’m soo angry at it, it truly is awesome but it hurt me.
if anyone can report in on the new patch and if there have been any marked improvements i would be thankful.
Comment by mobiletone — Nov 20, 2008 @ 6:56 pm
Little Big Planet question….
When are they going to patch the issue that stops you using 3rd party controllers with the game - seriously Sony, you money grabbing gits, stop being so tight - the cost of 1st party controllers is crazy (and you don’t even give a charge cable with them)
Comment by Mr_Leisure — Nov 20, 2008 @ 7:01 pm
@ Mr_Leisure - huh? i’ve had 4 people round playing LBP (back when i liked it) i used an original sixaxis, an imported ceramic dualshock 3, a cheap and nasty Tevion USB PC pad and a wireless Carbon Type 6 with usb dongle.. all worked fine.
Comment by mobiletone — Nov 20, 2008 @ 7:14 pm
2 wks in a row no demo….this is startin to tik me off!..
Comment by Bim — Nov 20, 2008 @ 7:23 pm
Meh, nothing too exciting for me there, but I am excited by the latest news over on the Official Playstation Blog that Street Fighter II HD Remix is being released next week for $15.
Obviously that does not necessarily mean that we Europeans will be getting the game next week, but hopefully we will not have to wait too long (if at all) and it also confirms the price, which I am very happy with.
(No trophy support for release, sadly, but I can live with that).
Comment by Mace — Nov 20, 2008 @ 7:53 pm
“AFTERMARKET BODY KIT PACKAGE”?!
Is the games market getting desperate, or what? I’m sure this is NOT how on-line gaming was supposed to go.
I see that Fony have done their usual Xmas trick again: Starve PSN of updates for the whole year (with pitiful and pathetic scarce update material) and then dish out a whole lot of crap at once, so that it will look like there’s loads to choose from, during the festive season.
I know…why don’t they make ALL downloads FREE for 24 hours?! That would be REAL Xmas present.
Over & Out.
Comment by Zed Zee — Nov 20, 2008 @ 8:01 pm
€7.99 for PS1 game? Someone seriously needs to get a reality check.

Comment by ThreeSpeechlover — Nov 20, 2008 @ 8:37 pm
cost of NFS add-ons £46.84… price of game on Amazon £37.99 = £84.83
Midnight Club:Los Angeles £22.97, that’s cheaper than the Store download for Burnout: Paradise!!
oh and official news from Sony, you can use references to Sony owned exclusive titles/IPs in LBP and they ’shouldn’t’ be moderated. mmm.
the 1.04 update doesn’t seem to have done anything, maybe the lag has been fixed, hard to say, may just be a slow night? P/C/S scores still not updating, the search is still borked, and there is a massive amount of horrible/trophy/heart me levels now, in fact in an hour of playing i didn’t find a single level that i would say had any thought or skill put into it…
*puts it back on the shelf for another two weeks*
Comment by mobiletone — Nov 20, 2008 @ 9:11 pm
Of course you don’t need to buy the “Need for Speed: Undercover” Add-ons, but you do *need* to buy “Midnight Club: Los Angeles”

PS.
I’m officially not buying any more PS3 titles until at least a week before Christmas.
I bought two of the PS3 “Soul Calibur IV” titles from Argos yesterday for £24.99 each & I thought I was getting a bargain.
In the last few weeks I’ve seen £10 knocked off my pre-order price for “LittleBigPlanet” at Play.com, and “Midnight Club: Los Angeles” went down to £24.99 online at the GAME site last week (after I paid £29.99 for it two weeks before with a “£3 off £30″ voucher code).
The video games market must be in freefall at present with retailers desperately trying to gain some revenue, or sell off rafts of stocks to claw back some of their outlay rather than having the items sat in piles gathering dust.
Good for the consumer in the long-run, but very annoying if you’ve already done most, if not all, of your Christmas shopping already
Pre-ordering titles now is definitely going to be avoided at the very least.
(”Resistance 2″ is aptly named!)

@ xxShadowsfallxx:
Age of Booty is slated for a EU PSN release next week (check Capcom’s Blog)
Yup, that’s something like 2/3 weeks behind the US release, I have big worries for SSF2THDR which drops next week, ofc the EU is lucky if we get it before X-Mas.
Seriously Sony, Megaman 9 get released simultuansly worldwide, they’re is no excuse from my point of view, it seems to me when they smell money, they come in action.
Sony should know better then to keep loyal fans waiting outside the US.
Comment by Stiekem — Nov 21, 2008 @ 7:34 am
@ fanpages - but is MotoGymp 08 any better than the glorious Tourist Trophy by Polyphony Digital? funny how an old PS2 title can still beat down any PS3 motorbike release, and yes, i still play it regularly.
just been looking at last weeks game charts. very depressing for PS3 indeed.
Comment by mobiletone — Nov 21, 2008 @ 8:16 am

Tone! How could you have hate for anything as cute as LBP? That’s like punching a kitten!
Yep, no more games until Christmas - hang on, play.com have got Assassins Creed for £10…
Comment by lxd — Nov 21, 2008 @ 9:29 am
Not a great week to be honest, if you take away all the add-on content there’s not much there apart from Sim City (£6.29, EA you greedy b*stards) and the Loco Roco demo.
Wonder what happened to Savage Moon, I thought it was definitely coming in November, but we haven’t heard anything about it for ages.
Don’t forget the US PSN store updates on Tuesday next week, because of that weird thanksgiving thing they do.
Comment by mobilebone — Nov 21, 2008 @ 10:19 am
Just a quick question….. Where the hell is Home?! I thought it was supposed to be out for November (if all of the press releases were to be believed)….. Micro$haft constantly bend the truth about their amazing online experience, are Sony now beginning to follow suit? It’s getting to the point where I may aswell not bother reading Mags / Online news… I remember the days when a game/software would be released in a fully working order on the date that it was advertised, not delayed year on year!
Comment by Monkey Rimmer — Nov 21, 2008 @ 10:20 am
@Tone - feeling bitter that your LBP level got removed?
Perhaps MM will listen to your concerns now that you’re cyber-squatting in their domain
(or maybe they’ll send someone to evict you! I had to laugh at your site but at the same time I think it’s a little unfair. I guess MM / SCEE are doing the best that they can to moderate user-levels fairly. I wish there was a way to have levels reinstated on the basis that they have been reported maliciously (if what you claim is happening is actually happening). However, who’s paying for the work involved in the investigating of “grief reports”? Remember that SCEE gets no money from us directly towards the PSN (unlike Microsoft and LIVE). Maybe a solution to the LBP user-content moderation problem would be to have the community help moderate anything that receives a grief report. I think a lot of players would enjoy helping out with this. SCEE are you listening? - I could be onto something here!
Anyway, I’m still enjoying LBP - it’s still the best thing worth playing at the moment despite the minor issues (which are being worked on).
As for the PSN update - The trailer for the hof character for PAIN was good. I’m still waiting to buy an all-in-one pack for PAIN at a decent price though. Pixeljunk can release Mosters for £3.49 with a load of additional trophy levels released in a later update for free! That’s good value. Paying more than that for PAIN and then paying an endless number of smaller sums for individual characters, levels, etc, is not good value at all. By the time you’ve bought all the content for PAIN you’ve invested the equivalent cost of a full-priced game on blu-ray!
Comment by reakt — Nov 21, 2008 @ 10:25 am
Well, that’s a horrible update. The usual Rock Band/GHWT updates that pad the list out, reams of extortionately priced DLC, and a few videos and themes. No demos. No PS3 games. No PSOne games.
Meh doesn’t even begin to describe it. And there was I hoping there’d be a tasty PSN update on my birthday.
Comment by iapetus — Nov 21, 2008 @ 10:31 am
To be honest I couldn’t get away with Age of Booty, downloaded the demo on 360 ages ago. Thought it would be better…
Browniepoints for the Locoroco 2 demo, now that I am PSP owner again, and nice one for the Linger in Shadow soundtrack…
(the intro music to Mirrors Edge is also on US store)
Rest of the update, meh as the kids say these days…

I havn’t

@ lxd - i kick puppies into the local river too
no beta code for me yet.
@ reakt - i’m cyber-squatting like it’s 1998
i consider the MMM site me drawing a line under the whole deal, my final word on it all, the non-buying public will now do my work for me and let LBP crash out the the charts very shortly.
i did start drawing up some new level designs today, so not all hope is yet gone, jeez, someone has to upload something decent! i do miss my ‘push johnsketch into a firey pit’ section though from one of the lost levels. part 2 if i remember correctly.
@ Sony, WTF! nearly every bus shelter today on the way home was plastered with SingStar ABBA posters!! you’re marketing the PS3 this xmas as a glorified karaoke machine??

More info on Home from SCEE
Posted by Ves
on Nov.21, 2008 at 12:58 pm
TedTheDog keeps flooding us with info about Home as were nearing the end of the year.
On the official EU Playstation forums you can find a post of the v1.0 Patch notes. Most important in it was that today (21st) over a hundred thousand (100.001 maybe) invites will be send out across the SCEE region. Another patch of invites will follow on the 27th only this batch will be much bigger. Open Beta will follow soon after.
Home will take 3077MB on you HDD so have some space ready (20/40 owners), after entering you will be introduced to a interactive tutorial. There is still a ge limit of 18 and over for the Closed Beta (Open Beta no word on the Open Beta age). The separate language area’s are gone, everybody will be placed in one area, but there will be special language spaces for you mother tongue.
You can still travel to a friend on a EU, NA or Asian server but only to your friends Personal Spaces and/or Clubhouses.
I’m not going to bother you too much with notes just check them out yourself and let us know what you think. And most importantly cross your thumbs for that invite. I’m crossing all 4

Europe gets Resi 5 demo next year?
Thursday 27-Nov-2008 12:01 PM Capcom confirms PS3 and Xbox 360 trial for the West
Capcom has confirmed that a demo of Resident Evil 5 will indeed be making it way to the West after yesterday’s Japanese reports.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 demo was confirmed by the company for release in Japan on December 5. According to the company’s US blog, the trial will be making it to Europe and North America “a bit later”. We’re probably looking at early 09 then.
“Resident Evil 5 is still on track for the previously-announced Friday the 13th, March 2009, release in both North America and Europe,” says the blog. “Fear not, we will also be seeing demos for both the 360 and PS3 versions of the game, but they will be hitting N. America a bit later than the Japanese demo. Stay tuned, more to come on the demos soon!”
There you are then. Capcom also detailed a Japan-only Collector’s Edition that we want. Those Japanese get everything, gits.
