When we left them, Keith, Alex and Ike were talking about improvements that had been made in the second iteration of Rock Band….
In out tireless search for LittleBigPlanet content we came across this site. Apparently it’s a resource for ‘user experience designers’. Not totally sure what they are, but they sound pretty interesting. Anyway, this guy seems to know a lot about design, and LittleBigPlanet seems to have really impressed him…
We showed you the Japanese Resistance 2 advert yesterday, and now it looks like Europe has got a great R2 advert of its own. Check it out at Eurogamer. The question is, which is better - the Japanese one or the European one?
This video shows a prototype version of LittleBigPlanet, back when it was just a twinkle in Media Molecule’s eye. There’s more information on the first versions of LittleBigPlanet here, on the Benelux-facing community site PS3-Sense, including some details on Yellow Head - the first ever Sackboy.
Eurogamer has got the UK’s first official a review of LocoRoco 2. Apparently the game is a ‘parade of cute ideas, brought to life again with simple, beautiful graphics’, earning eight out of ten. Sounds pretty cool!
Check out the full review here.
2008 could just be the fastest year in recorded history. As if by magic it’s already mid-November, summer having been compressed into a few hours that passed by sneakily while everyone was looking the other way. Anyway, as the year draws to a close people are starting to look back on all that has happened in the past months. There’s been a lot going on in 2008, not least in the world of gaming.
We’ll be canvassing your opinions on the key moments later in the year - but to get you thinking here are the the Spike Video Game Award nominees in the category of best PS3 game. Let us know what you think? Is there one contender that’s head and shoulders above the rest? Is there a criminal omission from the list? Thoughts in the thread please…
Here’s a new PS3 TV spot. PlayStation has got a great heritage when it comes to creative advertising. What are your thoughts on this one? Interesting to see echoes of the Resistance 2 cover art…
This statement just in from SCEE:
Sony Computer Entertainment and Media Molecule would like to thank everyone in the LittleBigPlanet online community for an amazing start! So far a staggering 84,000 individual levels have been uploaded and more than 27 million level play throughs have been completed. We couldn’t be happier with the initial efforts from our community members; the variety and quality of some of the creations has been astounding. We’ve seen everything from great platform adventures, puzzles and quizzes through to stories and races. We have even had a wedding proposal created entirely in the game!
Sony Computer Entertainment and Media Molecule would also like to take this opportunity to praise the fantastic spirit that our online community has displayed. The vast majority of content uploaded to date has been fun and suitable for all of our community members. In a very few cases we have upheld complaints regarding unsuitable content or infringement of intellectual property, with less than 0.5% of levels actively moderated as a result of complaints from other users.
Sony Computer Entertainment are committed to continually improving our moderation procedure and the methods of communication we use, in particular regarding the reasons that user complaints are upheld. In the meantime, here are some suggestions for all of our creators:
Ensure that the content you share with other users is suitable for all ages - everybody has access to your level if you publish it.
Please respect other people’s intellectual property rights. For example, don’t use images, brands or logos that you’re not entitled to use.
If you come across any content that you feel the need to report, then please do it responsibly. Hoax reports will be considered inappropriate behaviour.
Thanks to everyone that has contributed to LittleBigPlanet so far. Keep enjoying yourselves!

Hot on the heels of the relaxing of its content approval process, SCEE has taken another step to help foster the Indian games development community. SCEE is working with developer Vicious Cycle Software to make the Vicious Engine available to local developers, in the hope that this will help boost the country’s output of games – especially in terms of local content and sports titles. It is also believed that this move is part of a package of measures intended to promote uptake of the PS2 and PSP in the region.
More on that story here.
