On Friday we ran a poll to find out what you all thought the best piece of new content in the week’s PSN update was. The winner by a comfortable margin was the LittleBigPlanet DLC, followed fairly closely by the demo of LocoRoco 2. Three Speech regular E-ROLE is a big fan of the new LBP packs - and he’s written us this article about just why he likes it so much. If you’d like to contribute a similar article in weeks to come get in touch on the Three Speech email.
Why I love the Little Big Planet DLC, by E-ROLE…
LittleBigPlanet, the name alone kicks your imagination into overdrive, and with so much imagination comes the need to show some of it off. The best way to do this is to create some amazing levels and cunning game play. But there’s another way as well – in Sackboy himself.
LittleBigPlanet comes with an extensive collection of materials, clothes, various wigs and other bits and bobs to show off your individuality and creativity. This update, like the one before it, gave us a chance to truly go to town on giving our sack people that little extra touch of personalisation. So far the updates have been really imaginative, including gems like the Spacesuit, Sack in the Box and some funky animal costumes. These are great updates in their own right – I love them – but what I’m most interested in is the game-themed DLC such as the Kratos and Nariko costumes, and the soon to come Old Snake and Sephiroth outfits. These suits give you a great way to show your love of your favourite games and characters and also allow you to stamp a little bit of your identity on your Sackboy.
Included with last week’s update was the release of the LocoRoco Sackboy costumes, which also coincided with the excellent LocoRoco 2 demo. The designs and the colours were great and now, what we really need to see, are some LocoRoco levels to go with them.
Hopefully we will continue to get more LittleBigPlanet DLC in the form of costumes and maybe down the line a way to create our own imaginative designs. Whatever happens I’m sure future DLC will blow our minds.
Yeah, the costumes are nice and all. But even with my level of disposable income, there is no way in hell I am going to spend these amounts of cash on costumes for my sackboy.
But keep the free ones coming

I agree, for what they are they are too expensive.

Free is the best price….

i agree with the above sentiments, I wont pay for any of these costumes. the sole exception being Old Snake, I must admit, and Ill also admit to being lured to play.com in order to get Nariko, and buying PSM to get Kratos, but both were technically free.
Costumes are great and everything, and Ill enjoy collecting all the free ones, but what Im really looking forward to is the actual content packs they have planned. I read that wind was taken out of the game, and theyre looking to put it back in at some point.
Hopefully theyll see sense and not charge for this…

I have to say I’m a little dissapointed with the blog updates of late ThreeSpeech.

Did anyone else notice that the total percentages added up for the poll came to 99%
No, I didn’t think so…
Hey cool to see you including contributers stories!

Wow threespeech asked me last year to write an article. Then they stole it and posted it as 4 different stories. They promised me a free game but of course it never came because it was never sent.

Surely the main reason these were the best DLC last week was that there was no worthwhile DLC at all last week, and these were the least bad (or would have been had they been free…)

You have to be kidding?
The store updates are diabolical.
The LBP content extortionate.
I hate the download content, it smacks of dead horse flogging. This DLC has come out far too soon, it must have been ready before release and therefor should have been included in the final game.
I download the free stuff but will never pay for the content. Ever.

I’ll maybe post here seeing as my original post wouldn’t work…. I think the FREE stuff was good (although the MP3’s were a little lost on me as I didn’t download the … In The Shadows ‘experience’. The US PSN seems to get loads of free content, however the EU PSN seems to get dross…. BTW, is there a lack of PS3 news or something…

Tiran Kenja (No.1) is completely on the money, if you excuse the pun.
I saw the costumes and thought ‘cool’, then I saw the price and logged out…
