SingStar are launching a series of themed SingStar SongPacks and first up is the music of Queen. Now here at Three Speech we have to admit a sneaky liking for Freddie & co. From the hip-hop bassline of ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ to the ace ‘One Vision’, we can see this one being a whole lot of fun. SongPacks will feature five hit tracks to download at a cost of £4.49 each and appear in the store every two weeks. The Queens SongPacks will be released on October 2.
Queen SongPacks are as follows:
Ultimate Queen 1:
Bohemian Rhapsody
One Vision
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Killer Queen
Bicycle Race
Ultimate Queen 2:
We Will Rock You
Another One Bites The Dust
Who Wants To Live Forever
I Want It All
We Are The Champions
From Abba SingStar Dancing Queens to… well, a four-piece, now three, no… now two piece, oh, yeah… “legends” implies all have died doesn’t it?
I’m not sure they are Killer Queen collections though.
There is no mention of “It’s A Kind Of Magic”, “Radio Ga Ga”, or “Don’t Stop Me Now”. And then there are Freddie’s solo hits… you can count those on the fingers of a half a hand.
Disappointing. Surely a Blu-ray release (or a PS2 DVD set) has been over-looked? Or perhaps SingStar releases are not getting with this millennium.
“Bicycle Race”? I ask you… talk about re-cycling so-called hits.

fp.

“It’s A Kind Of Magic”, “Radio Ga Ga” and “Don’t Stop Me Now” are already on SingStore aren’t they??… there’d be no point releasing them in the song packs, cos they’re not new…
but I’m glad they’re finally doing the song packs, been ages now… n I’m also glad they’re finally putting Bohemian Rhapsody on there!

English. Learn it. Your post makes no sense what so ever.

@fp, “It’s A Kind Of Magic”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Don’t Stop Me Now” are already available individually on SingStar. Guess they didn’t want to duplicate the songs.

Seems strange they are doing this when they are bringing out the Queen PS2/3 singstar game :S

@2 [MuggleMind]:
Yes, I know… thanks! That was really my point. The most popular tracks were released first, and they are not included in the SongPacks (either for new customers, or existing ones).
Not that I’m saying Sony shouldn’t be making money (they are not producing content for the fun of it… or are they?), but obviously there is more to be made if you keep the most popular downloads singularly priced.
@3 [xxShadowsFallxx}:
The PS2/3 disc-based collection will probably be released after Christmas when everybody has already purchased the downloadable versions & realised that what they really wanted was a facility in "Home" to transfer hard-drive content temporarily to a friend's PS3 console when said friend is having a party.
(See comment above about financial incentive)
I'm sorry I was accused last month of always putting a negative spin on news on Three Speech.
OK, to set the balance... SingStar is a great social gaming title that suits the young & old (of either gender) [regardless of the comments made in "SingStar ABBA Available For This Christmas, Exclusively on PlayStation" blog entry].
Now, if only Sony’s own label artists could release CDs or digital downloadable music tracks with an instant inclusion to the SingStore download list… that would be a huge selling feature (and would boost the flagging UK singles chart too).

So what, I’m still unable to buy anything from PSN Store in Latvia. Make it a blueray, so I could import it.

(Now) @3 (with @2 now pushing “MuggleMind” to @4) [Baboon]:
I think you will find that the English usage is a single word; “whatsoever”.

Thought it would be cheaper for a song pack. Only 50p off!
Comment by Hartlepudlian — Oct 1, 2008 @ 6:59 pm
Whatsoever as a single word is an Americanism, and was only added to the English dictionary in the late 70’s.
