Mirrors edge is excellent!!! It’s really cool how it feels like your actually running, the graphics defo need an HD screen to be enjoyed. Overall nice presentation. The PSn update was really good this week.

Wow. Those Premium Themes are $.99 to $1.99 USD, and I think that’s crazy. So playing £1.49 is highway robbery! Isn’t that nearly twice the price?

@4 [Carl]:
Hmmm…. “Warhawk”… isn’t that a new game? Glad we got the demo before it was released (thirteen months ago)
I think the PS1 titles are being re-advertised due to the new (well, last two releases of) PSP firmware allowing access to the ‘Store from the handheld.
Over the pond, the US ‘Store is offering “Siren: Blood Curse” at a one week (30 October to 6 November 2008) promotional price of USD 30, or USD 11 per Episode pack.
The US ‘Store also has “Alone In The Dark Demo (Playable Demo)” - this should be the “Inferno” edition of the game. Where “Inferno” means “Better than all the previous platform versions with bugs removed & controls fixed”, or has Play(dot)com puts it, the PS3 has “Special Features”…
—
* Full 360° Camera Control: Enhanced camera controls allows complete freedom of the camera and better handling of first-person view camera movement for even more immersive gameplay.
* Fine-Tuned Controls: Quicker and smoother reactivity of the hero’s movements in third-person view make for more rapid movements in nail-biting situations.
* Inventory System More Accessible: More logical jacket inventory system with the ability to combine objects using only the D-pad, and more fluid hero movement makes item selection a breeze.
* More Tips: Players will get all the help they need to get through every situation and get the most out of the game.
* Spectral Vision Tuning: A tutorial explains the need to burn roots in order to gain spectral vision and difficulty tuning means less spectral vision is required to reach the end of the game.
* Improved Car Dynamics and Handling: Car handling has been tuned to make driving a car a walk in the park in every situation, including increased suspension and reduced drift.
* 59th Street Level Tuning: One of the game’s most exciting sequences just got better. 59th Street has been tweaked for a more satisfying race against the fissure with difficulty tuning, an added checkpoint at Columbus Circle and clear voice directions given by Sarah.
* Brand New Thrilling Action Qequence [“Sequence”? – fp.]: An exclusive new sequence has been added in Episode 6 for even more pace and variety of gameplay in the episode.

Out in two weeks in the UK, so hopefully it will be on the European ‘Store next week or the week after.
Other than that the Demo of “Mirror’s Edge” has been brought forward a week, so mustn’t grumble there.
Point of note about the “Soul Calibur IV” Weapons Pack Add-ons… all the content offered can be won as you progress through the game. The Game Packs are just a quick way of gaining these items.
Not that you can ever find an online game that doesn’t have terrible lag, mind.
In other news… the GAME Group stores (including GamePlay, and GameStation), and John Lewis are all listing 160Gb PS3 consoles (with “FIFA 09”, “Fallout 3”, or on their own). HMV changed their listing of this item to “unavailable” / “Availability: sorry this title is deleted” on Wednesday. Zavvi, Amazon, and Play(dot)com are not listing them at all.
Interestingly, John Lewis are offering the console included with “a voucher booklet with 4 free exciting games to download from the PSN store - GT5: Prologue, Ratchet & Clank Quest for Booty, Warhawk and Last Guy” (as well as a bundle with PlayTV), but everybody else is listing “Super Stardust HD” instead of “Warhawk”.
GameStation also bundles a Blu-ray movie of “Transformers” for seemingly no additional cost.

fp.

Mirrors edge is wicked!

At last a warhawk demo, been after this for the last 6 months and now it’s released when I don’t want it anymore due to Farcry, LBP, Dead Space, Fallout, SW Snowboarding and COD:WAW.
There are only so many hours in the day and I’m already short on them!
Good update though…

Shame we didn’t get the Alone in the Dark demo, guess I’ll be off to the US site again…
Will anyone in their right mind pay £1.49 for a crappy theme??!! These’s should be like a mp3 track at around 49-99p, anything more is just taking the p*ss. Hopefully when no one buys them SCEE will come to their senses…
Also, I’ve just noticed, why did the UK get shafted with a 50p increase to the retro titles but the EU price stayed the same?
One more moan - why do SCEE refuse to offer “Sales” on the EU PSN Store? There’s a few titles I wouldn’t pay full whack for but would pick up cheap (Siren being one of them as it happens). The US Store has had 3 or 4 Sales/specials now, we’ve had none!
Pull your finger out SCEE! Now they’ve globalised the game approval process why not globalise the PSN Store, and just sack the wasters that run SCEE…
It’s a shame for them SCEA are getting better and better, a few months ago this might have classed as a decent update, but the US Store top-trumps it again…

Mirror’s Edge - I’m finding it tricky but diggin’ it all at the same time.

Endwar is not available on the Dutch PSN.
Again, what is it with demo’s not coming out on the Dutch PSN when the rest of Europe DOES get it.
Comment by DoggySpew — Oct 31, 2008 @ 2:14 pm
Mirror’s Edge is simply awesome. It has gone from a “let’s see what the demo’s like” to a “I have preordered it”. And I usually steer well clear of first person games.
Damn good job, DICE.
