Three Speech doesn't seem to have a blog entry about "Linger In Shadows", so hopefully placing this information here will be useful to someone...

Any reason why my previous comment (#13) appears on this page when I view it in Firefox, but vanishes when I view exactly the same URL in Google Chrome or Internet Explorer?

So posts critical of things like pricing are still showing up in a browser which happens to contain a pair of cookies linked to the posting address, but in any other browser they're not there - effectively deleted, while fooling the original commenter into thinking everyone's just ignoring them. Am I right?

Not that anyone aside from me will ever see this if I am. But if it's the case, then, well, that's just pathetic.

From the US Update this week:

"...Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars ($14.99)
Get ready for non-stop action as you take control of a rocket-powered super car! It is a sport like no other, where supersonic cars jump, flip, and rocket boost their way to victory!
File Size: 177 MB...

...Demos (Free)...

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars
File Size: 160 MB..."

A more suitable title for this game would be "Soc-car".

Remember when the BBC TV "Top Gear" team played Car Football [ www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/show/production_notes/car_football.shtml ] with two teams of Toyota Aygos drivers?

"Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars" is an on-screen adaptation of this without the Aygos but with various 'Penny Racer' sized vehicles pimped with jet packs strapped to their rear ends.

The "AI bots" that make up the two teams to a total of 4-a-side in the absence of human players are far too quick with the user-selectable choice of two battle cars on offer in the demo version, and you can just end up disoriented after driving up the walls across the ceiling around the goal area and sometimes on the ground as each of the bots takes control of the action.

The on-ball replays after (literally) an explosive goal are the only way to understand how you lost control & somebody else (AI-controlled, or otherwise) took the ball to the other end of the pitch & scored.

Fun,... but annoying at the same time!

PS. If you do visit the US 'Store...

From PS3Fanboy{dot}com:

Buy PixelJunk Eden, get Monsters Encore for free

Posted Oct 10th 2008 11:40PM by Andrew Yoon

No one can doubt the incredible popularity of PixelJunk Monsters. That game continues to sell, months after its release. Now, the PixelJunk team wants you to try Eden, their latest game. As a bonus, they'll give you a free download of the Monsters Encore expansion. The add-on pack adds 15 new levels (and a random level generator). This should be a deal for those that love PJM and are looking for something new.

The deal ends on 10/16.

I call foul on Super Stardust HD.

I bought it back in November last year at the Australian price of $13.45. Now the complete pack with both expansions is selling for $16.99, only $3.50 more. But what does Sony want for the expansion double pack for current SSHD owners? $10.95!!! That's almost as much as the game originally cost itself.

Come on Sony, show some love to those who bought SSHD early. Make the double pack 4 or 5 dollars.

At $11, I'm not buying it.

It would be great if Sony embraced the Demoscene properly and allows them GPU access from Linux, the results they get from the hardware they use are truely stunning!

Check this demo (mentioned in one of LiS's trophies) created on a 66Mhz Amiga:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-wtMEBPWeMo

If they can do that on an Amiga imagine what they could do on PS3, and imagine all those talented people growing up to become PS3/Cell specialist programmers!

There should also be an area on the PSN Store where their demo's can be offered to the public for download for free (or very cheap, as in 99p cheap).

Here is an interesting article about the PS3 Demoscene:

http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/inside-ps3-demoscene

Also if you go to scene.org and search for Linger you can download a 320Mb AVI version of Linger In Shadows. It's basically the same thing you get for £1.99 but without the interaction, sound effects or trophies!

This is definitely a must download for Trophy fans though, it's probably the easiest 5 silver and 10 bronze trophies you'll ever get!!! ;)
