It seems the audio skipping is related to folks using upgraded HDD's, and specifically Samsung drives 250GB and higher. Mine is a Samsung spinpoint 320GB.

http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=b_EN_G_Driving_wipeout&message.id=715

I've noticed another bug, and some of my PSN friends have also confirmed this. Hi scores etc aren't updating to the leaderboards. The last hi score/times of mine were from last Friday. I've since thrashed all those and now notice my personal records aren't being transferred to the global scores or the friends scores.

But otherwise i've been playing this every spare moment! Online play is incredibly good as there seems to be no lag at all! its like playing over a LAN! Shame about the niggles, but this game is incredible.

Maybe some of the guys running this blog can pass on the info about the skipping?? I think its quite well known now as a bug so hopefully its already filtered through to studio Liverpool anyway.

BTW, noticed it skipping now and then on my custom soundtrack also last night, and even when I have custom soundtrack saved the title music skips regardless and sometimes has static noise overlaying slightly when the title screen is left idle for a few minutes.

Is there any contacts we can email to ask about the skipping?

If they know about it and its a simple fix then result.. but if they don't know people are having issues and it doesn't get resolved that will suck.

Wipeout website doesn't have any contact details or anything..

I've got a virtually new 320GB hdd so my audio skipping issues can't be related to a fragmented HDD. I don't own PlayTV (But have it on order) so it not that causing the problem. Like others have said, it seems to be a bug.

I've since compiled a special Wipeout Playlist from my old original Soundtrack CD's of WipEout, Wipeout 2097, Wip3out and Wipeout Pure (they never released Fusion and Pulse CD's AFAIK, but got some of the tunes there off other CD's I have).

The only SLIGHT niggle is that the ingame music seems more dynamic than my MP3 playlists. I have to bass boost by 20% and increase the Music volume to 100%. Then down the effects to 60% and turn my amp up higher to compensate for the loss.

So now its a toss up, Hi quality ingame tunes with skipping or lower quality MP3 playlist, but better range of music. It all sounds picky, but for me WipEout has always been about the music as well as the GFX. Roll on the patch..

@ El Stefio

Absolutely! Funky beats and crisp, colourful visuals. you betchya! I love 'Zone'! It would be interesting if they made it even more like Rez - i.e. have 'beat triggers' at various points on the track or on the speed boost panels.
