"Killzone 2" announcement due on 4 December 2008?...

Killzone 2 Beta Is Unbelievable, But We Have Something Better...

Okay, here's the deal- we are in the Killzone 2 beta and our conclusion thus far is relatively simple and straightforward.

It's this beta that is quickly proving to gamers that Guerilla isn't fooling around. They're not spending a truckload of money to develop and hype a project that will ultimately disappoint. We have determined that in recent interviews, the developers appear to be supremely confident in the quality of their forthcoming FPS...and we now know why. It didn't take long for us to understand exactly why Guerilla was so confident, and why every last PlayStation 3 owner on the planet should be pumped. Hell, we won't discriminate; every video game everywhere should be pumped; the PS3 is a worthy purchase for this one game. Our full beta impressions are forthcoming, but we want more time with this bad boy before we start to gush. Let's just say that if you're not in the beta, you're seriously missing out, and if you are, than you fully comprehend the previous words in this update. We've heard nothing but great things so far, and pretty soon, we'll tell you why it's impossible to find a lot of negative feedback on this beta test.

And one last thing: we currently have something better than the Killzone 2 beta. It's still Killzone 2, but we're not allowed to talk about it until December 4...so we won't. In the meantime, we suggest you keep it here, 'cuz you won't want to miss what we have to say next month. Oh no...no, you won't want to miss that.

To those that are afraid the KZ2 won't be a AAA title on the PS3, google for some KZ2 previews from many known websites and newspapers, and your fears will be gone.
KZ2 is bound to be a really top title on PS3. The reason it was pushed back, was to not compete with Resistance 2. No need to release two FPS at the same time. The begining of the year usually is slow for videogames, the release of KZ2 in february might spike things a little bit.
There will be a public beta before the end of the year to give us a little taste of what to expect.
Fear not, KZ2 is a AAA title and probably a system seller for the PS3.

@ Savage( PSN : CartBlanche ) - it's NOT motorstorm, never claims to be, that's like saying GT5 is pants because it's not GRiD.

it's not going to be everyones cup of tea i'll admit that but it ticks the right boxes for me.

Perhaps the images are from a multiplayer mode where the viewpoint is that of a 'spectator'... (rather than just a spectre as seen in the last image).

But yes, warning bells are ringing... all titles over-hyped, and over-delayed, so far have been overly-poor too.

Maybe we'll get a demo throughout the latter weeks of December to give us some seasonal festive cheer.

Or maybe we'll get a demo a few weeks after the Blu-ray edition is available.

The lack of a playable demo is also a good indicator of a title that is trying to gain as many commercial sales as possible before word gets out & the only outlook is the bargain bin at Woolies or the next "under £20" sale at Play.com.

I take the point made above that war isn't colo[u]rful, but a game awash with greens, gr[e|a]ys, and browns, will make it difficult for colo[u]r-blind gamers to play.

(PS. Locali[s|z]ation only took an additional 6 seconds here)

Talking of differing viewpoints, here is an interesting article on gaming reviews written by a developer:

[ play.tm/story/21001 ]

And news today that “Gears of War 2” may be the last great Xbox 360 title as Epic are ‘approaching the upper end’ of the potential available upon the current generation of the Microsoft console:

[ videogamer.com/news/02-09-2008-9197.html ]

The (sales chart) battle between “Resistance 2” [PS3] & “Gears of War 2” [Xbox 360] in November should be a good one in any respect.

I used to own a 360, and Gears of War was by far the best game I've ever played to date. I'm really hoping that KZ2 will be as good, if not better - especially with GoW2 arriving this side of the new year. If not, I will be bitterly, bitterly disappointed...

How can these be screens from multiplayer.
they aren't even in first person.

I had the same confusion over the recent video and the playthrough vid, were the dev is proud of the fact that you can see where he just fired a missile, right before a cut scene. The only thing I thought odd was the missile comes from 300 ft below you as you are getting in a dropship. Either you switch characters mid game, or there is some serious teleportation going on.

After the original pre rendered footage debacle on this game, I'm holding off any judgement until I get my mitts on the real thing
