The music of Disney classic animated movies is about to be brought to life on PlayStation®2 when Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) releases SingStar® Singalong With Disney exclusively for PAL territories this Autumn.
The wonderful magic of Disney comes from its timeless music as much as its spellbinding animation, from The Little Mermaid to Peter Pan, to Aladdin and Toy Story. With Disney fans of all ages in mind, SingStar Singalong With Disney proves that no one is ever too old for fairytales, and mum will be keen to join in with the kids to show off her singing skills. Tracks from Disney classics old and new ensure that every member of the family will find a favourite on the track list. The game features classic SingStar options allowing players to sing in solo, duet, or battle.
Each track is accompanied by clips from the original Disney movies, which means that your favourite characters appear on screen as you sing along. There is no longer any need to wait; every Disney fan’s dream comes true in Autumn 2008 when SingStar Singalong With Disney is released on PlayStation 2.
SingStar Singalong With Disney will include the following tracks, with more to be confirmed very soon.
Aladdin - A Whole New World
The Jungle Book - The Bare Necessities
Toy Story - You Got A Friend In Me
The Little Mermaid - Under The Sea
Pinocchio - When You Wish Upon A Star
Songs will be made available in local languages across PAL territories.
SingStar has been one of SCEE’s biggest games titles since the first SingStar title was released in 2004, selling more than 6 million discs across PAL territories. SingStar has attracted new audiences to PlayStation gaming, with men, women and children picking up the iconic microphones and singing along with their favourite pop hits.

Fisher Price vice?… with no mention of Gary Glitter.
“Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again”… how apt.
But back to the plot…
As I’ll get a ban for the last comment, oh go on then… nobody has mentioned it yet…
Wireless microphones,… anybody? No? Anybody?…
No, didn’t think so.

@ mr Sketchy - the only thing i want from Disneh is PURE.
i’ll let them off having Aristocats in there though,
the rest is just typical vapid modern dross.

I just wish they’d just sell the tracks on singstore as well.

I hate all the other SingStar games, but I oh so waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant this!! <3 Disney
Comment by Spedfrom — Aug 22, 2008 @ 12:53 am
Something else from Disney that I’m waiting on…
The two “Toy Story” movies to date on Blu-ray.
(And the third in due course following release in June 2010. Did somebody say ‘Collector’s Box Set Edition’?).
Also “Finding Nemo”, “The Incredibles”, “Monsters Inc.”, and really anything except a “Hannah Montana” concert in glorious 3-D Blu-ray vision.
Considering all the issues of animated Disney classics on VHS, and DVD, they are being surprisingly slow on Blu-ray availability.

It’s Disney for crying out loud!
Comment by TopGunZ — Aug 22, 2008 @ 7:07 am
@ TopGunZ - it’s not Disneh i have a problem with as a rule, i just hate the whole SingStar thing with a vengence
Comment by mobiletone — Aug 22, 2008 @ 7:18 am
Since this is for the PS2 and the PS3 version is soon supposed to support the ‘ripping’ of songs from PS2 singstars, will that apply here? I have long since sold my PS2 so if that is possible I’ll get this.
Then again, I have a launch PS3 so this might just work in backwards compatibility I suppose.
Comment by TheShirts — Aug 22, 2008 @ 7:45 am
@14 [TheShirts]:
Originally reported as being a new feature to be made available via a PS3 Firmware Update that would support the transfer of PS2 “SingStar” disc based tracks to the PS3, it would seem that the PS3 versions (volumes) of “SingStar” will now (only) allow (by way of a free downloadable patch, and subsequent inclusion with any new PS3 volumes) the swapping of PS2 “SingStar” title discs within a PS3 gaming session. This means that any PS2-based tracks you already own (or have access to) can be played directly in the PS3 version (without having to exit the game to insert new discs). The tracks themselves will remain off the PS3 hard drive. Pity. But I suppose the decision was retracted due to issues with individuals gaining access to PS2 tracks that they may not actually have owned (such as renting a PS2 disc title, or borrowing one from a friend).

Lion King was the best disnesy film, altho I won’t be buying this like the other singstar games otherwsie I’ll have to hand all my man cards in….
Comment by Terry — Aug 22, 2008 @ 8:54 am
@ Fanpages
again why is it now possible,
while in the past using the PS2 discs was no option since given
excuse 1 ) different engine and technical not possible
excuse 2) the songs are not licensend and therefor not possible
and suddenly with a easy firmware/sw update all problems are gone..
again ,we’r getting screeeeeewwed
Comment by T3rrortime — Aug 22, 2008 @ 12:01 pm
I believe the previous licensing issue was relating to provision of the PS2 disc-based tracks on the online SingStore facility. The tracks have had (previous) legal/artist/label clearance for release in the UK (for example) on a disc format, but not for placing online thus making the tracks available to the whole of Europe (and arguably, the world of the World), in digital format.
I don’t think I’ve seen reasoning about a different engine & technical issues, previously. Please point me to these comments if you can.
However, there will be a free patch to the existing PS3 titles & all new (PS3) SingStar titles will contain the functionality to swap PS2 discs without leaving the game-play.
This was never a problem (for us playing at home anyway); we just played on a PS2 console or using the backward compatibility feature of our release day 60Gb PS3 console (and swapped discs if necessary).
Also, the (London Studios) SingStar team have been busy making “EyePet” videos in the intervening period; so they’ve obviously got some time free now to address points raised by the public regarding usage of PS2 & PS3 SingStar titles in parallel.

Comment by lee — Sep 30, 2008 @ 10:13 pm
You’re very welcome
I’d hope there would be something from “Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs”, “Peter Pan”, and “Dumbo”.
“Mary Poppins” & “Bedknobs & Broomsticks” would be good choices for selections too.
Give it another twelve months & we’ll probably have “High School Musical” (including tracks from movies 1, 2 & 3), and “Hannah Montana” variants.
(Shudder)
