Overlord II, sequel to the original game, is now in development at Triumph Studios in the Netherlands, targeted for PS3 release in 2009. The fantasy action adventure kicks off with a new Overlord and army of ‘Minions’ taking on an entire empire - the Glorious Empire, threatening their existence and destroying any sign of magic crossing their path. Here’s the full description from the press release:

After seeing a modder’s successful attempt (see above) at cramming the full PS3 hardware inside a custom made laptop style enclosure earlier this week, we were thinking about the practicality of such a device. Would people be interested in this, or is it just another novelty gag? It certainly is an impressive feat of engineering, and while obviously at its current phase it wouldn’t be practical at all; we can’t help but think with some further engineering, could this work? This latest modification isn’t the first of its type - Ben Heck (well known for his modding of consoles in the tech world) did exactly the same earlier this year, then gave up his device for a charity auction on Ebay via Engadget.
Back in the days of the PSOne, an official Sony screen was available for the mini version of the console - but with the PSP bracing the modern age, is there any need to take the handheld’s big brother out of the home?
Hot on the heels of the (exceptionally good) Hollywood blockbuster hit ‘The Dark Knight’ comes Batman: Arkham Asylum for the PlayStation 3. This originally scripted game, developed by Eidos Interactive, will see players taking part in action detective style gameplay, which unfolds in the chaotic aftermath of the delivery of the Joker to Arkham Asylum.
Will it live up to expectations? Click through for the full press release.

The guys over at PSU have been chatting with Kevin McCann of Tiki Games, concerning a large update to NovaStrike to make it more accessible to all audiences (casual through to hardcore) as well as the long awaited trophy support. Here’s what he had to say on the update:
“I’m really hoping the update helps a lot of existing owners that are frustrated with the difficulty to enjoy the game. I’ve spent a *lot* of time on tuning the difficulty (particularly on RECRUIT and SOLDIER), and brought more folks through to play it, so this should be closer to the mark in being accessible from very casual to hardcore gamers (and believe me - I’m still including a challenging mode for those that want it).”
Concerning the trophies, there are 16 trophies in total - 12 bronze, and 4 silver; keep an eye out for the full trophy list appearing soon. Here’s the complete feature list from the update, courtesy of PSU.com.
-
Difficulty - Tuned to be easier in existing modes while adding a HARDCORE mode for those that really want a challenge
Fully Customizable Controls - A secondary control layout that has an alternate control mapping scheme will be included, but you’ll also be able to customize the controls to your liking — you can map weapon selection to face buttons and/or the digital pad, put the afterburner on a trigger, etc.
Trophies - 16 total Trophies, 12 broze and four silver, will be added
Player ship - The Scythe will be larger in size
Fine Aim mode - Those having trouble lining up the Shredder and/or Trembler bomb will be able to hold a button down to slow down the Scythe’s turning which this makes lining up on ground targets a lot easier
Megapacks and repair packs - Will now replenish the capacitor bar for the afterburner
Slight performance increase - Overall game optimized slightly
Looking good!

We’ve been graced with Soul Calibur IV for a while now - and across the internet it’s received quite, if not very favourable reviews across the board. Do you agree?
Thursday has many names across the SCEE region. In Germany it is known as ‘Donnerstag’, in Italy they call it ‘giovedi’ and in New Zealand it is called ‘Thursday’… One thing remains constant though; the fourth day of the working week is store update day for PS3 and PSP owners! What will you be downloading? What do you think of this week’s update?
Above is the finalised UK cover art for hot PS3 title LittleBigPlanet… as if we needed to tell you! What do you think?

Rise of the Argonauts, Codemasters and Liquid Entertainment’s upcoming gladiatorial action-RPG, will be accompanied by a music score composed by Tyler Bates.
While scouring through the blogosphere this morning (as you do), we came across this month old blog called Thumbbook. Nothing more than a personal blog, the author discusses how a PSP given to her son as a present resulted in an addiction of her own, and then motivated her to post about her favourite RPG games for Sony’s handheld. The library of PSP RPG games certainly has exploded recently, leading to huge sales spikes in the RPG-loving Japanese market after the release of big hitters such as Phantasy Star Portable, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and of course Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G.
As always, we’re looking for your valuble opinions on the PSP’s lineup… what are your favourite RPGs on the platform?
