Codemasters have announced their latest racing game to join the ranks of GRID and DIRT: Asobo Studio’s FUEL. Set in an alternate present day world, decades of rising pollution and environmental abuse have lead to rocketed fuel prices (not so alternate after all) and tsunami wrecked, flooded, barren abandoned areas. A new group of racers compete over the wastelands, in a new extreme sport to win sought after, highly valuable fuel supplies. After four years in development, the game touts extremely vast free roaming environments meaning players truly can create their own routes and tactics to win the race. Players can look forward to performing “death defying stunts” through realistic environments complete with a dynamic weather system varying from rain and shine to tornadoes, blizzards and sandstorms. It’s due out in 2009, and while we don’t have any screenshots just yet you can expect more to be revealed at the Leipzig GC, kicking off tomorrow. Until then, check out the full press release below.

We’re kicking off the week of Leipzig GC with some news that broke over the weekend: the upcoming issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via PSU) is reporting that the Final Fantasy XIII demo, included with the Blu-ray release of FFVII Advent Children, will last longer than the runtime of the Blu-ray movie itself; putting it upwards of 90 minutes. The demo will be included on a separate disc, and is based from the beginning of the game to avoid spoilers. The Blu-ray disc is due for release next March.

EA have released the soundtrack listings for its 2009 iteration of the FIFA series - and it’s looking good, if you ask us. The game, to be released in October, will include tracks from 21 different nations, celebrating the game’s multi-cultural roots. The UK’s entries (this is starting to sound like Eurovision) are provided by The Fratellis, The Script, The Ting Tings, Kasabian, The Kooks, Foals and Duffy (okay, definitely not Eurovision). Hit the jump for the official press release, and full track listings.
