We’re kicking off the week of Leipzig GC with some news that broke over the weekend: the upcoming issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via PSU) is reporting that the Final Fantasy XIII demo, included with the Blu-ray release of FFVII Advent Children, will last longer than the runtime of the Blu-ray movie itself; putting it upwards of 90 minutes. The demo will be included on a separate disc, and is based from the beginning of the game to avoid spoilers. The Blu-ray disc is due for release next March.

I wonder if this will be on a DVD (or 2?) and include a version that the 360 can play as well?

@ Tony - no, the demo is PS3 exclusive.

Blu-ray only sadly. (Sorry Guys) And if since it’s so long, I doubt they would release it on the marketplace.

Since it is 90 minutes and the beginning of the game, will we be able to save and then continue from that point in the full game? Not sure I fancy an hour and a half of repetition when I first stick in my shiny new disc.

@6, TheShirts
I doubt it will allow saving, as it is a demo and demos generally speaking don’t save. Mostly because they are a snip of an unfinished product so supporting a save file from a demo means the final release will have to include special support to handle any changes made in the file format between the demo and retail.
Plus you’ll probably want to play the first 90 minutes or so over again, because there may be changes to the opening of the game, or to at least refresh your memory and perhaps do a better job than you did on the first run though.
