EA have released the soundtrack listings for its 2009 iteration of the FIFA series - and it’s looking good, if you ask us. The game, to be released in October, will include tracks from 21 different nations, celebrating the game’s multi-cultural roots. The UK’s entries (this is starting to sound like Eurovision) are provided by The Fratellis, The Script, The Ting Tings, Kasabian, The Kooks, Foals and Duffy (okay, definitely not Eurovision). Hit the jump for the official press release, and full track listings.

Cos clearly you are in a ambulance because you require some sort of medical attention, and thus your destination, if any, would be a hospital rather than home, I mean they are not freaking taxis are they?

Good going guys, this negative attitude towards everything is really helping all the potential new PS3 owners to see what a great bunch of readers TS has.

It is getting harder to estimate the Power of PlayStation without something substantial to demonstrate the console’s capabilities.
Would a new PS3 owner find ThreeSpeech.com amongst all the other PS3-oriented site, or would they go directly to the Official US blog/forum though, Nofi?
That is, to some extent, the point. Sony should open an official European site, or back Three Speech more by not expecting the team running the site to generate content & source copy assistance from site visitors, but by being proactive & offering pre-made articles relevant to this region & maybe even some exclusive news that cannot be found on PS3Fanboy or another large site hosted in the US. But, above all of that, Sony should be on-hand to back the site with answering queries raised by the general public. Granted, many of the comments are repetitive, but that is because of the frustration people have with the brand.
There is presently no official outlet for the comments we regularly read here, so people repeat themselves in the vain hope that repetition will be noticed, as they become more & more disillusioned with Sony & the seemingly lack of support & direction for a marketing strategy in Europe.
“The Year of the PlayStation” is coming to a close, and it seems to have been “business as usual” compared to last year.
As for David Reeves’ head on a stick (as was requested last week in the ‘Leipzig’ thread), has anybody got the “Girl on a Stick” title running? “Resistance is futile” may well become a slogan Sony wish to adopt if they (ever) read comments here.

Yes but what “potential PS3 owners” are even aware of Threespeech?
As for negative comments, this is the only blog that SCEE have set-up so naturally people who do “own” PS3s will come here to voice their concerns, to think otherwise is naive
As for this Threespeech reader, having tried to work in the industry as a developer & also as a multi-format user. I believe my views are far more balanced than say, someone who runs a platform specific blog…
In fairness I can provide criticism of all three consoles, but have the most concern for Sony and their treatment of PAL consumers.

People don’t have a problem with voicing comments, but when every post is littered with ignorant immature comments it gets damn annoying… and I’m pretty sure the majority of the community that used to be here bar a few users have left for that very reason.

@nofi - I read your site daily (its good) and I noted with interest your comments regarding how you wanted people to post more constructive ideas in the Leipzig thread and dismissed the negative comments as being written by ‘fanboys’.
I thought it was harsh at the time as of all the threads on TS this was one that SCEE might actually take note of and people used it to try and stress their point of what they see as an inferior service compared to that of SCEA.
As fanpages so elegantly wrote above there needs to be some form of open communication between SCEE and its consumer base. SCEA do such a brilliant job of conversing with their customers on their blog that surely you don’t see it as wrong that SCEE should do the same?
Your site has regular contact with SCEE yet you don’t ask them uncomfortable questions about EU delays, comparitively weak PSN updates or the sometimes bizarre pricing structure in Europe. Is that because SCEE won’t answer those questions or do you not ask them incase they suddenly take away your rights to news?
You openly admit to downloading demos and content from other stores and suggest people should do the same which requires you to both break the T&C of a PSN account and for you to trust your bank details to one virtual credit card company or another, surely it would be better if none of that was necessary.
The repetitive nature of the comments is a bind and I admit I actively add to that but where do you suggest we go to voice our frustrations? The official EU forums are useless and any negativity is met with stone-walled silence. TS claims to be the ‘Semi-official’ blog for SCEE but you’ll get no answers here either.
The customer shouts, no-one answers, the customer shouts louder, no-one answers, the customer shouts louder. Until there are answers people will shout and shout.
I hope that SCEE announces an official blog at Leipzig and engages with its userbase but if it doesn’t I expect to see the same complaints week after week across various PS sites and TS will cop most of them due to its ‘Semi-Official’ status, maybe they should drop that tag.

Okay point taken on board, but if a non PS3 owner does use threespeech. Would it be their only source of information? Of course not!
Also if they “do” choose to comment, they dont have first hand knowledge of some of the things threespeech post about and thus can not really contribute anything of great relevance, compared to actual users.
(not saying they dont have anything relevant to say, just that comments from non-users would naturally tend to be less informed about certain subjects)
Also show me “any” place on the internet that has a large (talking thousands not hundreds) public user-base and solely mature comments…
Private invite only forums tend to be the only sanctuary, regardless of subject, sadly…

TheSixthAxis isn’t under any kind of obligation at all as to what we can or can’t post with regards to the PSN Store. I’m all for SCEE bringing out games without delay to our shores, and campaign as much as anyone for that to happen, but I do so intelligently and thoughtfully with full knowledge of the difficulties and obstacles that global releases entail, something most posters here on TS simply do not.
In my opinion (and mine alone) the incessant whinging and complaining without any kind of constructive critique on each and every single post is not under destructive to anything objective some of us are trying to do, but also offputting to potential buyers, despite what some may think.
I certainly kept an eye on Major Nelson’s blog before buying a 360, so what makes you think there aren’t plenty of people reading TS without a PS3? With TheSixthAxis’ stats hovering around TS’ (via Alexa or similar) it’s not hard to make a guess at how many people read TS each day compared with how many post in the comments.
Everyone knows that the US store offers different content to the UK one, but now and again the situation is reversed. I don’t want to make a list, but Europe has (for example) more potential for Trophies with the Buzz! patch that the US doesn’t have. I dread to think what these comments would look like if the story was vice versa on something like that.
To conclude: everyone (including SCEE, I’ll wager) is well aware that there’s work to be done to get the UK Store up to speed, but progress is being made, whether you see that or not. This Thursdays’ Ratchet and Clank is proof, as is last Friday’s surprise (!) update for Bionic Commando.
As an outsider looking in, the situation must look incredibly bleak, with actually isn’t the case at all.

@ Monkey - okay, agreed there. I admit, wherever you go there will always be some idiots, but just looking at the Leipzig posts… any genuine comments just got drowned out by people talking about kicking the face off SCEE employees and such rubbish, wheres the hope of them responding when they’re abused like that?
I totally understand and agree with most of the gripes about SCEE, but people don’t seem to understand how different their jobs are to SCEA. Think of all the countries SCEE manage - the entirety of Europe, Australasia, I believe they manage India too… each with different stores, alot of different currencies, different languages, different content agreements, different age rating systems, different technologies etc… compared with SCEA who yes, cover a large area, but most of which who speak the same language, and use the same currency, same age ratings.
Not saying SCEE don’t do anything wrong - they often frustrate me to the point of almost no return, but they’re trying and it is getting better… but where’s their incentive to improve when they read things like “all SCEE employees should be brought on stage and have their faces kicked in”?

Yes but the situation regarding SCEE PAL store has moved far beyond the realms of simple constructive critique, take Bionic Commando, it arrived in the PAL store on Friday, great…
However where was the communication from SCEE to say this was going to be a day late? The only date SCEE seemed to communicate was the abstract TBA for PAL.
If SCEE had confirmed the date, it would have prevented a large amount of animosity on Thursday.
This is just a “small” example of SCEEs poor management, in which they have had over a year bordering on two to rectify.
Mature criticism can be applied, but “Complaints” (mature & immature) are going to occur when SCEE themselves have done nothing constructive to pacific the disillusioned consumer.
If the looks the outlook seems bleak, SCEE themselves have allowed this negative view to breed in the first place…
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Aug 18, 2008 @ 12:37 pm
@Mr Monkey:
But if they’d have announced a date for Friday and then missed it the fallout would have been worse. The best possible thing they could have done they did - the Friday release was a nice treat and no-one expected it so soon - it’s clear that they had to make a few decisions relating to certain countries getting the game, and I for one am happy that they got the game out pretty much day-for-day with the US release.
I genuinely don’t see how you can possibly think that’s “poor management” in any sense of the word.
@fanpages:
Thanks.
Comment by Nofi — Aug 18, 2008 @ 12:40 pm

The incentive comes from that people are so unimpressed by SCEE performance, that they are now being insulting.
The insults are a direct result of the frustration us PAL users have…
Being so bad people want to “kick your head in,” if that doesn’t make you want to improve. Then I am pretty sure a more reasonable critique will be ignored…
(The comments I made in the Leipzig thread were mostly tongue in cheek, by the way)
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Aug 18, 2008 @ 12:56 pm
@nofi - Thanks for the lengthy response and to a degree I agree with some points you make. To complain without ‘constructive critique’ is a bad thing, ‘F*/k you sony’ comments will never make anything better and as you say makes the situation look alot bleaker to those on the outside than the reality is, but its also something that I feel SCEE could resolve by taking a more active approach in dealing with its customers.
I’m aware of the difficulties that global releases entail and that SCEE covers a much vaster region than SCEA but it would be nice if SCEE took the time to explain this to people instead of the currently perceived fingers-in-the-ears policy which only leads to people becoming more and more frustrated.
Sites such as yourselves bring the news to the masses as fast as you can and provide a great service that folk like myself enjoy but the flipside of that is that people can see for themselves that they are getting a rough deal when they compare themselves to others, either in other regions or those that own 360’s who see that X-box Live manages to globally release products week after week without long delays.
Constructive criticism shouldn’t be bashed and people complaining when they feel wronged is human nature. As I wrote above, this sites ‘Semi-official’ status will make it a focal point for peoples frustrations, the lack of response from Sony on its on forums and on its ‘Semi-offical’ blog only adds to these frustrations. All internet sites that allow comments will be victim to trolls and this site has its fairshare but is it right to tar everybody who complains with the same brush?
As I wrote before I’d like to see a SCEE blog announced at some point as the SCEA blog does a great job of dealing with its customers and allows folk to ask about any issues they have. Criticism is responded to and in turn allows people to feel like they are being listened to, their voices heard.
Can I ask what you ‘campaign as much as anyone for that to happen, but I do so intelligently and thoughtfully with full knowledge of the difficulties and obstacles that global releases entail’ consists of?

I have family who work for multinational corporations at seniors positions. Communication or lack of on par with SCEEs is no doubt a symptom of poor management.
I have also personally emailed David Reeves several times, in order to receive “basic” answers.
If that is not a sign something is wrong with a companies structure, then I obviously do not know what is…
As for BC, even you must agree a actual date is better than no date at all. Personally speaking I would have waited for it on PS3 if I knew it was out on Friday.
Instead I bought on 360, as I had a choice. Think it would be very narrow sighted to think other multiformat users did not do the same.

Thanks for the response.
I think you’re on the right tracks with the perception that SCEE has their ‘fingers in their ears’. Of course this isn’t actually the case, but the lack of direct PR response could suggest that, I agree. However, you should note that some key areas of the official EU forums are well staffed with both SCEE and their first party spokespeople actively posting and responding to comments very frequently. For example: both the Buzz! and the LittleBigPlanet sub-forums are very active in the official responses, the LBP one especially, albeit only recently.
Our site actively doesn’t publish the US Store updates (usually first, too) as a way of highlighting the European content, but we certainly don’t do this to avoid comparisons - the US Store updates are there for everyone to see, and normally get posted on the US Blog before they go live which is a nice gesture. I don’t know why SCEE don’t do a similar thing but you have to understand that each region operates as a separate entity and have their own rules and regulations.
Constructive critism should be encouraged, you’re right, but lately TS’ comments section has been plagued with pointless trolling. If the comment log-ins were linked to proper PSN accounts I’m sure this would be reduced, I’ll let you figure out what I’m hinting at here.
Your last comment I’d like to politely decline to answer, I’m afraid.

Can’t we all just get along?
The people holding this argument are the ones that generally write constructive criticism, I myself have said the occasional rude thing but all with tongue in cheek.
I think that everyone can admit that it has been an incredibly frustrating year, as all of us (I think) have the same intentions, that being to see the ps3 really achieve the things that we hoped it would, and were told it would.
We have had delay after delay, false promises, terrible PR and to top it all off we happen to be in the pal region.
Everybody is entitled to post what they like. When I first read through this site 15 months or so ago it was nowhere near as bad it is now in regards to complaining, I think that people have just got to the end of there tether, me included. Hence I’m now buying an Xbox, which if you would have asked me a year ago about I would dismissed the idea as crazy. I really hope that SCEE get there act together and start showing their region a bit of equality.
In my humble opinion I think that the only way to get SCEE to listen is if it hits the BIG Sony wallet, and if they carry on the way that they have been then this will become more apparent as all cross platform titles that hit Xbox live first will of course be purchased there.

I’ll take note, conduct myself accordingly, & make a concerted effort to orchestrate similar comments.
On the other hand, I’ll just try to get off Three Speech’s instant moderation queue so I don’t have to post everything multiple times.
As we’re being positive now, I’ll just say that I’m looking forward to the second “Rock Band” title.
“We’re not worthy… we’re not worthy…”
“Party time, excellent…”
etc.

You’re very welcome, manley.
“Match performance”
During the EA Sports press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention yesterday, it was announced that the PS3 version of “FIFA 09″ would include the ability to record foot(ball)age of in-game play ready for uploading the resultant video file to YouTube.com directly from without leaving the game.
Already rumoured prior to yesterday, and also confirmed at the conference, was that “FIFA 09″ will include a “Live Season” feature (possibly with the prefix of “adidas” [all day I dream about soccer?] that monitors & adjusts the performance of all players in the in-game leagues against the real world FIFA database, meaning that if the actual players are having a particular good (or particularly poor) season then their in-game statistics & on-screen performance will be adjusted to, erm, match.
This feature is dubbed as a new “premium service” (translation: ‘at extra cost’ maybe?) & will provide a weekly update for the statistics of each player from the launch of the game to the end of the 2008-2009 season for the Barclay’s Premier League, La Liga BBVA, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A, & Mexican Primera Division.
