6. I’m sorry to say that I’m not keen. It’s not something that is going to leap off the shelf to people who are unaware of the title. Whilst a huge cute sack boy may pull the younger audiences the target should really have been the parents which I don’t think it succeeds at.

24. PlayTV saved content no longer transferable!!!!

    This just keeps getting better.
    First HD channels for freeview (not really)
    Then all files to be transferable (not really either)

    So could someone explain why I would buy this?
    In fact I would like to buy if it did something that the others don’t do, but instead it has fewer features than the rest for a higher price.
    It’s almost like I’m dreaming, and everything that Sony does is a complete calamity.

31. 1. HD terrestrial freeview isn’t broadcast yet, not for the masses anyway. This isn’t SCEE’s fault.
    2. I doubt SCEE want to be sued for distributing tools that make it easy to distribute high quality copies of European TV programmes online. Modchips had legal and illegal uses, import games and pirate games, unfortunately one illegal purpose makes the whole modchip illegal.

    One of the PlayTV developers probably spoke too soon about that feature before the legal dept. told him to shut up, copying recorded programs has never been an official spec from what I’ve read in the press releases.

    Why would you buy PlayTV?

    - It has by far the most beautiful, clear, high definition user interface of any box on the market, not just freeview
    - That doesn’t just help how nice it looks but how easy it is to read onscreen text, especially the EPG
    - The two tuners are HD-ready for future HD broadcasts
    - PSP Remote Play for watching live TV, recorded programmes, setting recordings remotely and because it’s all designed to work together there’s a minimum amount of setup
    - If you’ve got a bluetooth or USB keyboard hooked up to your PS3 you can search for specific content even more quickly than going through the EPG
    - SCEE’s much more likely to provide significant software upgrades than any other box provider

    The main thing for me is the UI superiority over every other box in existence.

48. I wouldn’t care what the box looks like, I’m still buying it.

    However, they should have gone for different packs wth sackboy on the cover in different costumes. So you could have sackboy in the Bruce Lee tracksuit etc. That would have been good.
