Three Speech regular E-ROLE brings us the first of his PlayStation Top Trumps, Kratos.
It all began in 2005, when God of War was released for the PS2. The blockbuster game enjoyed massive success due to slick graphics, great story telling and an overall shine unseen on many PS2 games at the time. But one of its major draws was the main character, Kratos.
Unlike any other main character to come before him, Kratos is one bad-ass killing machine. From being granted one last chance to destroy his enemies by selling his soul to Ares, to slaughtering hordes of innocent people and soldiers, Kratos is a true anti-hero. Scarred with the memories of his past, Kratos serves the gods to hopefully one day be forgiven for his sins.
The overall look of Kratos is powerful and strong, also very cold and hard. His skin is white due to an Oracle cursing him to bear the ashes of his wife and daughter, which in a blind rage he accidentally killed. The weapons that have been burned on to his arms, The Blades of Chaos, are a constant reminder of his commitment to the gods and the pain he has caused in the past.
Many believed Kratos had finally been given a break at the end of the first game, by becoming the new God of War. But things were soon to go downhill for our anti-hero as the second game God of War 2 was released in 2007. God of War 2 (in my opinion) has the best graphics and gameplay ever to be seen on a PS2 and sold exponentially across the globe. Similar success was achieved by the PSP game God of War, Chains of Olympus, which again featured amazing graphics and game play.
If you thought Solid Snake had it bad, Kratos has been tricked, stabbed in the back and been given the boot more times than any other main character. He’s a tormented soul with nothing left to loose, which is a massive draw.
With E3 finished and God of War 3 on the way, many people are wondering how it’ll all end for Kratos. Will he do a Solid Snake and kick the bucket at the end, possibly to be reunited with his wife and daughter? Or will he reign supreme in the world of man? One thing is certain, however it ends “there will be only chaos”.

threespeech has no staff, the site is run by robots built from spare parts from AIBO dogs…
Just kidding keep up the hard work threespeech guys/gals - your doing the best you can, since most of your stuff is provided by SCEE
(whose staff really might be robots built from AIBO spares, judging by how the company is run)

@5: If you want to read up about PR hacks hired by Sony to form what is meant to be our answer to the US PlayStation.Blog then sure.
As for me, I’d like some news here that I didn’t pick up from another site first and that isn’t leeched from the SCEE Press Centre a week after it’s put up.
Also Three Speech, is Paul Byrne still working there?
