Here’s some info on the release plans for Siren Blood Curse…
On the 24th of July, four Siren Blood Curse chapters will be released. Each chapter will contain three consecutive episodes from the series. The game will also be released as a full four chapter bundle on the same day. The full game will cost £19.99, with individual chapters costing £4.99.
Decent pricing. Don’t really see the point of releasing all four chapters on the same day though.

But… prices in pounds… digital delivery… are we talking about European distribution?? I thought that 24th of July was Japanese Launch Date…Is July 24th Worldwide Launch Date??
Comment by Thefont73 — Jul 4, 2008 @ 11:55 am
Hold on, how many chapters did you say it had? Didn’t I read 12 somewhere? So £60 for a game!
Is this the frog in hot water theory that if you put it in boiling water (charge £60 for a game) they will jump out, but if you heat it up gradually (£5 a time) they will happily sit and cook to death without noticing…
Also isn’t it the idea that you give a discount for a bundle? I could pay £5 and not like it and not buy anymore, or spread the payments, or I could pay the exact same price x 4 and risk blowing £20 on a game I don’t like!
The bundle should be on a 4 for 3 deal or something at £14.99 (which would also make the complete game a more palletable £45 in total)

@ Apnomis. Each chapter contains 3 episodes, hence 12 episodes on total

4 x £4.99 = £19.96
If there are only ever going to be four chapters, what do we get for the extra 3p for the “full game”?

The News says that there are four chapters with three episodes each inside. So, if you buy all the four chapters you pay 20£
Not 60$ ^_^
Comment by Thefont73 — Jul 4, 2008 @ 12:08 pm
Got to say I’m surprised and very pleased with that pricing!

@ VoodooCharlie
Thanks for clearing that up! My faith in PSN Store pricing is restored!!!
£20 for a fully-featured download game is very reasonable, I’ve never played the original but the screenshots I’ve seen look pretty good.

Forgot to mention (and this is what threw me), what is the point of having episodic content if the whole “series” is released on the same day?
I thought the point was it worked like a TV show so you get 3 episodes a month or 1 episode a week etc? Doesn’t it sort of defeat the object to make them in one go and release them together?
I understand the design of the game is like episodes (same as Lost, Alone in the Dark etc), but when they called it an episodic game, I thought they litterally meant it would be released in weekly episodes…
Comment by Apnomis — Jul 4, 2008 @ 1:59 pm
@9 [Apnomis]:
Just because every Episode is downloadable on the same day does not mean you have to download them all at that time.
If you did not have available funds for all the content on the same day you could download what you could afford, or perhaps you may only wish to download the first Episode, see if the game suits you, and then opt to then download the other Episodes thereafter.
Spending £4.99 to find out you do not like a particular title is obviously better than spending £19.96 (or £19.99) to reach the same conclusion.
The Asian Blu-ray edition of “Siren: New Translation” at Play-Asia.com is USD 54.90 (~ GBP 27.96) & the Japanese edition is 5 USDs more (or GBP 30.50 in total).
Both in stock from 24 July 2008, but not available for shipping to “European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, &/or Norway”.

fp.

[...] ThreeSpeech has the scoop on when we can expect Siren: Blood Curse to hit the European PSN Store, as well as how much we will be spending on this episodic horror. We’re not sure what Sony’s understanding of “episodic” is, but we were expecting something a little bit different to what’s been described. Siren will be split into four chapters, each containing three episodes of the game, but the strange part is that all four chapters will be made available on the same day — July 24th. [...]

Wow that’s dirt cheap for a game with such amazing visuals and I’m really starving for some good survival horror games.
I don’t think the games will be long, 11 chapters each with 30 min gameplay, at most 6 hours for the campaign… I think it’s still better than a lot of full priced games.
Great job to the devs for putting the game so accessible, I will definitely try it out.

Anyone know if a disc version will be released at a later date in Europe?

“…Of course, the real question is whether Blood Curse is actually worth spending your money on. When we originally received these chapters for review, we were expecting them to be charged at a few pounds per chapter - and we were particularly wide-eyed about the first chapter, which is really just the prologue and doesn’t boast more than about 15 minutes of actual gameplay. Later chapters improve this significantly, and you’ll get easily 40 minutes apiece out of them - and much, much more if you subsequently replay on the game’s very challenging harder modes.”
Rating 9/10

“…It appears each episode will average around 600 MB each… Considering that there are 12 episodes in total, expect to set aside a good 7.2 GB.”

The third game in the Siren series - Blood Curse - will be coming in two flavours. In Japan, you’ll be able to get it on Blu-Ray. But in the US? It’s being released as episodic, downloadable content, presumably in order to test the waters, see if there’s really a market for the game in the US. Fine for Sony, but what if you’re less a single-issue buyer, more a trade paperback kinda guy? Here’s what you do: import the Asian edition of the game, which also comes on a Blu-Ray disc. Like most Asian edition’s, it contains an English-language option, so you’ll have it all on one disc and be able to understand the thing. Win win!

…The survival horror game will be downloadable for a discount price of only $40 for the entire game … or $15 for each episode pack. Each episode pack will contain four episodes, with each episode averaging about an hour or two of gameplay each. That’s 4-8 hours of gameplay for $15 each. Buy all three episode packs and save $5.

“Siren” around the point of the pricing model for the US.
Let the moaning commence…

It’s £6.99 per chapter (3 episodes) on the UK store or £19.99 for all four chapters (12 episodes) if your still not sure get the demo off the US store. Just create a US account and you get the US store.

@21 [Metr01973]: I bought the Asian (Hong Kong) Blu-ray edition of “Siren: New Translation” from a seller on eBay last night as their stock was already in the (mainland) UK. Fingers-crossed it should arrive tomorrow subject to the Royal Mail. Including (Recorded/Signed For) First Class postage it cost the same as buying each of the four episodes individually, but I get the (in?)convenience of not having the full game on my hard drive.
