New video in from Sony!
“Check out the latest LittleBigPlanet trailer and see the some of the dangers that could await the unwary. Fire, spikes and mechanical snakes are just a few of the traps that you might have to dodge when playing LittleBigPlanet, but we are sure that you can find some new ways to challenge all of the Sackboys out there, so start planning! By the way, this level was made by Naomi Summerscale, one of our video editors, in less than a day. It’s good, isn’t it?”

Yeah, fantastic. Nice level, usual quality animation. Can’t wait.

Very nice, these are the games that Sony should be pushing (not saying they are of course, they’re doing a good job with promoting this title).
Looking forward to playing this one

This vid and the E3 presentation of LittleBigPlanet was the hightlight of E3 for me.
Comment by Wisdom Wanderer — Jul 16, 2008 @ 2:32 pm
Yeah, last years E3 (and the one before that) got me excited about the october launch in 2007 and early 2008
Comment by Daveatfernie — Jul 16, 2008 @ 2:39 pm
3 months to wait. 3 months
Comment by Seb — Jul 16, 2008 @ 2:48 pm
This is the one title that should a NEVER need a sequel, only updates…
Also heard that Sony presented their graphs yesterday using the LBP engine…
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Jul 16, 2008 @ 3:06 pm
The graphs was awesome! They even had trucks and ps3 dropping into the trucks as they drive along all in the background while it was going on. The creative variety is very vast!

Dumb question time. I really liked the music used in this trailer, does anyone know the name of the song or the artist?
Comment by jim d — Jul 17, 2008 @ 4:16 am
This is an excelent example on how simplicity and some nice creativity can make a good game prevail for years and years to come for an anxious community…like someone said, this is the type of games Sony have to do in the future, enough with all that “realism” crap…games have to be done to be fun, the gameplay is first, the looks is last. Less Costly and more Earnings !
This is a game that anyone owning a PlayStation 3 must acquire for certain and being an exclusive makes it even more tasty to buy it ! This is my favourite game for this year, that’s for sure !

Awesome. But there’s something I’m missing. It’s the confirmation for a soundtrack for LittleBigPlanet. That song in the background, in the video, I like it.

Latest news on Wipeout HD
was almost ready to go when they found a fatal glitch that they are having troubles fixing/locating it - current estimate is near christmas release.
(E3 backroom chat)
Comment by JoelR — Jul 20, 2008 @ 2:23 pm
@26
I heard the glitch was none of the ships were floating so werent going round the tracks very fast.
Comment by Terry — Jul 21, 2008 @ 11:22 am
@27 [Terry]:
The ships going down is a very apt way to describe this title. They are just going through the motions s[t]ink or swim-style at present.
I just read yesterday that “WipEout HD” was mentioned (along with “echoChrome”) at E3 2007!
I also notice that the number of people mentioning “WipEout HD” in blog comments has stopped too.
If I had cared about this title previously, I’m sure I wouldn’t now.
If the issue cannot be fixed this year, then Sony should just halt any further expense on this title, admit defeat & move on. Redirect the development team to “Home” & at least get something out of the door this year that people were expecting (”Killzone 2″, “Resident Evil 5″,… “Tekken 6″?). OK, “LittleBigPlanet” is coming… let’s hope that isn’t going to be a LittleBigLetdown too.
Perhaps a decision could even be made to bring back PS2 backward compatibility via firmware update & sneak through a PS3-update to the existing code of the last PS2 or PSP title.
Even “Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection” got a PS3 face-lift & that was the same game with a “HD” interface.
Much like “WipEout HD” was supposed to be.
Not sounding good for the full “WipEout” experience is it?
Come to think of it, “WipEout” is a very apt title on its own!

If it was meant to be a stepping stone i’d rather they scrapped it and began work on the new wipeout. Even if that means starting from the ground up instead of trying to redo something that was essentially designed for another platform. Wipeout was the flagship that launched Playstation and I feel they should bring it back and let it do for PS3 what the original did for games in general.
Comment by Terry — Jul 21, 2008 @ 2:41 pm
@29 [Terry]:
The planned (announced) tracks are just re-hashes of earlier “Wipeout” series tracks (see last link, below), but you would think that the technology developed (prototyped) for the title destined for the PlayStation Network (only), “WipeOut HD”, would form part of the code for the full PS3 Blu-ray version.

The only wipeout I didnt like was Fusion, the wider tracks didnt work and overall the design just wasnt on par with what had gone before. Wipeout 3 was easily the most stylish with its interfaces and Sasha soundtrack. but then the first jump in the orignal with its “Danger” sign was pretty amazing. Ah happy days…
Comment by Terry — Jul 21, 2008 @ 3:17 pm
Excellent, Just Excellent! LBP will rock!!

oh wait this was something which is only going to be released to the JAPAN-world of the PS3
btw the biggest news of the E3,was that there is no newz/update about HOME!!!

Why has this story got a drawming pin in it. I keep coming here and not seeing the updates as this is always at the top.
Comment by Terry — Jul 22, 2008 @ 10:13 am
Sony’s saving grace at E3 needs highlighting… no doubt when the “Home” beta (phase 2 onwards) is available this will also take pride of place at the top of the blog.
