Comment by Why SCEE, why? — Jul 17, 2008 @ 12:51 pm
We don’t get the full service the US get from today until 2009.
We got the same delay on iTunes and I think Xbox Live also took some time to bring it to Europe so I imagine its a whole rights thing slowing us down.
Even if it wasn’t SCEE would still screw it up though.
Haven’t said this in a while personally, based on our consistent level of service in Europe, that Reeves has trotted out the languages excuse again and prices being inconsistent compare to the US:
SCEE = useless
I can firmly say now that while I won’t sell my PS3 (although could fetch a nice price thanks to its BC) I will not buy another Sony console until at least a year of decent looking content and service received in Europe.
I’m also severely tempted to buy the red ringed turbine that is the 360. Thats how awful SCEE have been!

@ shrui - Aww, c’mon… nothing’s THAT bad!
I was supposed to be going to my mate’s tonight to see some of his latest 360 games. Only problem is, his system’s packed up. When it’s replaced, it’ll be his THIRD system in around 2 years. Yet he still tries to talk me into buying one occasionally. There’s more chance of Bill Gates going bankrupt…

Is this SCEE’s way of saying
“Yer we’ve screwed you over with everything so far…but look now we’ve given you an inferior video service to that of the USA’s one…but be happy, you have to PAY for this one!!!!”
Comment by Gazza — Jul 17, 2008 @ 4:06 pm

This is way too expensive, the content is big time meh and not launching on the PS3 at the same time is daft. Thats all I have to say, feel rather not interested I’m afraid…

Im tempted to try it out for free but wouldnt really be prepared to continue the subscription!
Comment by elephant_stone — Jul 21, 2008 @ 10:07 pm
Actually, guys and dolls…watch out for the terms:
“At the end of the trial, your subscription will automatically be renewed at the standard applicable price, unless you let us know before your trial ends that you want to end your subscription or change your subscription Packs.”
I got stung with this trickery by Amazon’s “Prime” service! Gits… (£40!)

Ive just stupidly signed up, bought a new memory card and now the damned thing won’t load on my computer. I have received no e-mail to say ive joined and have no way of taking my credit card details off cause i have no contact details! What do i do?!
Comment by Donna — Aug 4, 2008 @ 12:47 pm
@16 [Donna]: Ring your credit card issuer (your bank?) using the Customer Services contact telephone number on the reverse of the card. Explain the situation, and suggest that the transaction be reversed with the retailer as the goods are not fit for purpose.
The credit card issuer should then put the transaction into a “disputed” state, will probably send you a form to sign & will then chase the recollection of the funds on your behalf.
And, in future… never sign-up for subscription-based services on a rolling debit to your credit card as you cannot cancel the monthly transactions unless you close the card account. The party requesting the funds can cancel the arrangement, but as you have found, without successful contact with that party you cannot request this.
Good luck.
BFN,
fp.
