24th June 2008 – If society collapsed tomorrow and you found yourself with unique powers that could either help people or hurt them, which would you do? That’s the question at the centre of inFamous, the forthcoming PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) title from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE). Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, this open-ended, free-roaming game puts you in the shoes of Dylan, an everyday guy and urban explorer, in the aftermath of a huge disaster that destroys his hometown of Empire City. As Dylan, you must first learn to use new found powers and then decide how you will use them.
After the explosion, Empire City falls into chaos and Dylan must use his new powers and climbing agility. Along the way he will unravel an evolving mystery, experience fame and/or infamy, and battle powerful, iconic villains. inFamous gives you the freedom to play how you want, whether that’s aggressively, tactically or stealthily – be warned, however, that the city’s people and environment will react to what you do. Events will unfold based on the role you take and your actions will create broader reactions in the citizens and landscape around you.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the studio who gave PlayStation® the acclaimed “Sly Racoon” franchise, inFamous brings you a new type of superhero – an uncertain man with the weaknesses of a normal human being. This looks like a draker version of Crackdown, which was a fantastic game - if a little short.
Hopefully this will be a great PS3 exclusive title.. Can’t wait to see more

It’s going to be interesting to see which game gets more traction - inFamous or PROTOTYPE.
Both offer a similar premise and both have a similar look and feel. Both are out in 2009, and both have been compared to the likes of Crackdown and GTA (because they’re both sandbox titles).
I guess only time - and marketing budgets - will tell.

The PS2 series was called “Sly Cooper” not “Sly Racoon.” Just thought you should correct that so he piece comes off more professional.

It’s a shame it slipped to 2009, but hopefully Sony will be showing this off a bit at E3 next month.

Although the character name was always Sly Cooper, the game series is known as Sly Raccoon in UK/Europe. Since that’s where ThreeSpeech come from, they are correct in calling it that.
It was better known as the Sly Cooper series in the US.

Too late. By that time Prototype and a host of other 3rd person sandbox games will be out. The “Year of the PS3″ 2008 lineup seems to be shrinking by the day.

So it’s old news? Do you rely on PR departments and wait or post the news from unsubstantiated sources straight away.
I’m sure that TS would get complaints from people if they posted stuff that turned out to be wrong.
I gather news for a small fansite and can tell you now it’s not as easy as it looks.

2009…..Cant anyone get a PS3 game made on time… The trailer I have for this game stated coming 2008, I guess the PS3s architecture really is weird because everything is always delayed or coming 2009 … HOME, FFXIII, Heavy rain, its all just pie in the sky vapourware. getting really sick to death of it to be honest.

I believe that if both games are good Infamous would win out. Who could empathize with a parasitic mutant who sucks up people to fulfill his own need as opposed to a normal person thrown into a situation. l

i had also heard u get to manipulate lightning, super strength, move objects with mind (telekenesis), and fly and maybe more powers but thats just going by what gamepro magazine told me
