My decision on this game is purely determined by the cost. I find the SOCOM franchise the epitome of GENERIC, that’s not to say I wouldn’t buy it if the price was right.
It really needs to be the same price/ (preferably)cheaper than the Warhawk D/L…

I’ve not played SOCOM since the first PS2 outing with the bundled headset…. I loved that game… it was great issuing orders to the squad, although I seem to remember the voice recog. would get it wrong a lot of the time!
This is looking pretty impressive though…. I’ll keep an eye on this one!

Meh, online only games offer limited appeal. Work a bit harder and add a plot with mission and i’ll think about it… oh no, wait - i think i’ll just buy resistance 2 instead and enjoy the best of both worlds.

I remember the original SOCOM fondly, but I dunno if I can be bothered with the coop or team management thing. I just wanna do my thing, with other people doing their thing, and if the situation warrants it, perhaps chat and strategise. I dunno, I’m a pick up play guy, I don’t take orders well (unless I’d already come to the same conclusion), and don’t command well (unless people are being rubbish and I have to tell them so). That’s why Warhawk is so good, because you can play both styles. The graphics are looking okay though, but after recent revelations about some other games screenshots and the like on the net, I’m wondering if they’re PS3 screenshots we’ve seen or what?

Are female characters going to be included in the final release as there are none in the above shots?

Graphics aren’t all that impressive, COD4 looks better.

Is it Online only? I was under the impression is was both single and multiplayer…. but then I’ve not actually been able to visit the official site.. can’t get access from work cuz of Net Nazis, and the site wouldn’t load from home!

Yeah, this one will be online only with Zipper working on the next one (due 2019) which will have a story mode and online.
CoD does look good. But it’s the same bleeding respawn 3 billion times, rinse & repeat gameplay since the first CoD. And I’ve played every single one on PS2/PS3/PC2. Socom has never been about the graphics and all about the tense gameplay. Let’s hope they don’t balls it up (in a Socom 3 stylee).

Wow, the concept art pictures looks amazing. I’m getting more and more excited every week now and I love the coverage the game is getting at the moment.

This is why me, and most of NMA, have PS3s.
Indeed, original SOCOM beta testers… I will see you on there along with Gadget, Skinz, Jops et al… oh yes, oh yes indeed…
SOCOM 1 & 2, despite their flaws, gave me some of the greatest moments of gaming in my (nearly) 30 years of gaming. So hope that it’s not a balls up like SOCOM 3 was. That game broke my gaming heart. It was the equivalent of dating a supermodel for months, only one day to find out she has a penis.

Sort hoping the graphics are improved from the in game video i’ve seen on qore and youtube. Looks like they rushed this one. MGO and COD look alot better. Although I would trade super high quality graphics for a game without lag. I guess we will find out in the beta next month.

These look like some good shots, My friend has the public beta and its fun as hell.
BTW, to the guy who said this looks like a mash up of some other games its not, its socom man…
I can’t wait for my copy on the 16th.

I’ve always liked socom but it’s messed up that it’s online only i need the single player misssion that’s what makes the game badass but make the teamates accurate at shooting like they were on the very first socom just add more enemy and have missions that require you to stay silent those are the funniest missions. Thanks
