At first that looked like a substantial amount of content, but there’s nothing there that catches my interest at all. It’s a bit like seeing your christmas stocking is full to the brim, dipping your hand in to find it’s only full of chunks of coal.

rubbish, where is echochrome, wipeout hd, the xbox 360 had super puzzle fighter months ago!

As mentioned in the “Kaz Hirai interview” blog entry comments earlier this afternoon…
The “Army of Two” ‘Veteran Pack’ is not out in the US this week, Europe sees it first! (For once).
“Medievil Resurrection” [PSP] is GBP 14.99 / EUR 19.99.
You can buy it on UMD for GBP 11.48 (including GBP 1.49 postage) at Softuk.com.
You can discount another 51 pence if you are a “SoftUK Collector”.
If you have a Japanese PSN/Store account, “Fatal Inertia” is available as a free downloadable demo, or the full version is 30 USDs.
Time to (coal) scuttle back to your current games… Nothing to see here, ‘oil’ be bound…
Nobody takes Europe for a fuel.
I’ll get my coal, sorry,… coat…

I call on SCEE to close the store once and for all.
It is a total waste of everyone’s time and even I am tired going on about it.
The workload saved could be used by your staff to answer the voluminous e-mails, letters and phone calls you recieve about the dire state of our console and then perhaps you could chance to remedy some of those complaints in an acceptable timescale.
Comment by Ton Capone — May 29, 2008 @ 3:30 pm
@6 - I thought this was a brilliant piece of ironic commentary on the usual state of comments on this (and other similar) blogs. Then I read it again and thought maybe you were being serious - if so, I despair, if not, well done.
Comment by Dave — May 29, 2008 @ 4:18 pm
Nice update. A PSN game, a PS1 game, a PSP game, some decent eye candy. All the bases covered. Although I guess they had to bump the price of Puzzle Fighter a bit after it’s taken 9 months to get through SCEE certification

Super Puzzle Fighter … about time

I’m afraid I was making a serious point my friend.
It looks like it’s time for you to despair!
Sorry.

Army Of Two Veteran download will do me nicely, thank you SONY.
The free bundle adds two fresh co-op campaign scenarios: one underground in a Kiev subway station where you have to destroy some gang, and the other in Miami where you get to kill some bosses and an ex-boss and someone else who framed someone or something.
one more day and i’m off for 9 days, Shoreditch or bust -haha-

It’s taken almost a year to get Super Puzzle Fighter 2 out here? Christ, I can remember playing it not long after getting my US account about a year ago. Must try harder, Sony. At least make the stores equal.
Comment by Youlikeyams — May 29, 2008 @ 4:45 pm
did anybody buy the puzzle fighter ??
i”m hoping it contains all the EU languages,
to justify the almost a year delay,
even creating babies and giving birth to 1 is faster than the people of SCEE work

Seems that Rayman is only available in certain countries. I live in Sweden and I can’t find it in the Store.
And btw, I really wanted Puzzle Fighter but at that price I’ll pass but thank you anyway Sony for releasing it 7 months after the U.S.

This will make you laugh…
PS3Fanboy.com reports…
“Yeah, we hope you weren’t getting too excited about today’s PSN update. There’s very little here, again. Interestingly, Europe has recently been getting far better content than their yank cousins and this week is no exception.”
Oh, my aching sides, etc.

The EU updates have been better than the US ones for a few weeks now. If you don’t think so go and look on a big international forum like NeoGAF, these days all the complaints are about SCEA, not SCEE. The yanks would love to get half the PS1 games we get, not to mention Dark Mist which apparently will not see a release in the US at all.
This constant whinging about the EU updates every Thursday is getting tiring, some people round here seem to expect the moon on a stick every week.
Comment by uber1337 — May 29, 2008 @ 11:20 pm
Any PS1 games I ever wanted to play/own I still have, so I don’t think I’ll ever find a need to download any, but I understand there are many people who do rate these additions on a weekly basis.
I have far, far too many PS3 titles to play, and plenty PS2 titles still unfinished (or not started, in a number of cases). Why are people trying to look back to retro gaming on a “next-gen” console? Weird!
Buy sticky moons aside, what is the fascination with wallpapers & themes? These are the sort of things you play with every time you get a new PC operating system, go ‘yeah, nice…’ & then move on.
My hard drive is full enough without the need to dump loads of graphic assets onto it too.
The US site had a fair few video trailers over the past two weeks… it has taken me the best part of the last three hours to download them… and I still have 5 to go.
It just goes to show the grass is always greener on the other shore (or whatever).
I look forward to the weekly updates… and if one week there is nothing for me, I don’t worry about it. Moaning gets us nowhere. Sony will make items available when they can. No end of disgruntled customers saying they’ve been let down because the bought their PS3 for this, or for that reason is just a waste of their breath.
Nobody forced them to buy the console. Why buy anything on the promise of what it *will* delivery in weeks or months time, rather than what it *can* deliver at the point of sale? It makes no sense. If bought my console for a certain game that wasn’t going to be available for 3 months, then I’d just buy the console in 3 months time.
Maybe I’m just odd like that?
(Answers on a postcard to the ThreeSpeech offices. Mark your entry “Competition” & place my name on it. That way I may be in with a chance of winning this week!)

Typographical errors a speciality this eveni… morning [oops], obviously
But I’m sure you got the gist of what I was stumbling towards above.
Further point though…
It would be interesting to see some statistics on whether the PS1 downloadable titles are being run directly from the PS3 or transferred to a PSP.
I’m sure Sony must have done their research before offering this facility… but I don’t think I’ve even heard of anybody actively purchasing a PlayStation Store title to play on their handheld console.
[Isn’t that what custom firmware is for? So I understand, anyway ;)]

What was that I was saying about PSP titles?
One choice comment about retailers (in East London) removing PSP titles from their shelves because they cannot sell them:
“I blame Sony for this. They have been pushing the PS3 like crazy and aren’t working on any AAA PSP titles. Most PSP games are either remakes of PSOne games or stripped down PS2 games. Who wants to buy those anyway? Since I got a new firmware I haven’t bought a single PSP game, but actually there hasn’t been a single PSP game I’m interested enough in to buy anyway. ”
And, to be honest, who wants a GPS device &/or a Camera (with a lower resolution than a mobile telephone handset) stuck on top of their PSP console?

Finally, Puzzle Fighter. Only took about 5 months to get here from the US release.
Nice to see that full PSP games are being released over the PSN. A little bit pricey though considering the age of the two that are currently available. Medievil and Wipeout can both be found for £10 or less.

Disappointing per usual.
Ton Capone, I agree with you one hundred percent.
If they shut it, they can use the money saved to accelerate the EU approval of the DualShock3 release.
It was quite funny to read that Howard Stronger called the PS3 launch “fairly catastrophic” recently, at a the D6 conference (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=143722)
The only thing I beg to differ on is that things are not any better for the PS3 right now (and anything related to it), than they were at the disastrous and late launch.
Comment by Zed Zee — May 30, 2008 @ 3:11 pm
Typo ahoy! “Stronger” = “Stringer”.
Comment by Zed Zee — May 30, 2008 @ 3:13 pm
I’ve never looked at the state of PSN and decided that it’s rubbish. Okay, the contented added per week may have an inconsistent quality level, with a handful of people grumbling about the new content every week, but I can’t actually see where people are getting this standard from that it’s all judged by.
Maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s because I can remember gaming when the internet wasn’t even an “underground” idea and online multi-player was a dream, but I’m just actually grateful that we have portals for online distribution like PSN.
Cue the “Well with the state of it we might aswell not have a PSN and revert back to extra content only being available via disks we have to buy in shops!”
Comment by The-Unknown — May 30, 2008 @ 4:28 pm
This whole logic is going circular. There was once a period when everbody deemed it OK to slag off the euro-PSN’s incredibly slow uptake but now people are becoming sympathetic and going the other way. The PSN store is still rubbish! This isn’t just because of delayed games that we should be getting at the same time as the U.S as I thought thats generally what technological progression meant, to me it’s more about the trailers and free content. I think it’s ridiculous that a large company like Sony isn’t shoving trailers down our throats like the amazing new(ish) theatrical MGS4 trailer that I’ve had to watch in poor quality on youtube after having to frequently check for new trailers. I know that sounds lazy, which it is, as I’ve growin up being used to adverts forced upon me more than looking for them. I just don’t get why one person or a small team do not have the job of simply contacting companies weekly and at least keeping up to date. I spent a lot of money on my PS3, I would have thought that their store would be the first source for all the latest news/trailers, but instead it’s the last and feels almost out of touch, which is completely stupid. I don’t know, I don’t work for Sony, I do understand pricing issues for games and censorship etc, but with regard to trailers and the like, bumping it onto a euro server or whatever, sounds to me like a 5 minute job for one person and it just doesn’t seem to be happening.
