An exciting new era for THE EYE OF JUDGMENT™ is about to begin with the launch of official PLAYSTATION®Network tournaments starting on Friday 30th May (12:00 GMT) for all online THE EYE OF JUDGMENT™ players in the PAL region.
The tournament will run for one week until Friday 6th June (12:00 GMT). Our first tournament, ‘Natural Power’, will call upon players to create their own super-deck of cards to beat all comers, but there’s a catch. No Biolith cards will be allowed. The top 2 players won’t just receive the joy of being victorious, they will also receive an exclusive online ranking title on the global leaderboards for their eternal glory!
Taking part is easy, just follow these simple steps:
Log in to PLAYSTATION®Network and go online with THE EYE OF JUDGMENT™ in the usual way from Friday 30th May 12:00 GMT.
Select ‘Online Tournament’ from the Online mode select screen.
You will be matched up with another player to battle. Players will be matched up with another player to battle just the same as the regular way of Ranked Match.
That’s it – You’re entered into the tournament! Any points you earn from playing “Online Tournament” ranked matches before the close of the tournament will contribute to your position on the tournament leaderboard.
The tournament scoring system is exactly the same as that used for regular online ranked matches.
You can play as many matches as you like until the close of the tournament on Friday 6th June 12:00 GMT to aim for the top spot.
So start building that perfect deck! For both novices and experts alike, there’s no better time to join in the fun. To find out more about THE EYE OF JUDGMENT™ community and what’s out there, check out our essential guide attached below.
The Eye of Judgment™ Guide
Players are joining online tournaments, swapping tactics and trading cards - it’s all happening in the ever-expanding online community that’s growing around revolutionary PLAYSTATION®3 game The Eye of Judgment
With the release of expansion pack Biolith Rebellion Set 2 on PLAYSTATION®Network, revolutionary PLAYSTATION®3 title The Eye of Judgment™ continues to add new depth to its gameplay – and its online community is expanding alongside it.
Developed in conjunction with trading card manufacturers Hasbro, the game sees players draw cards from a deck and lay them onto the game mat underneath PLAYSTATION®Eye camera, which allows PS3 to transform the cards into incredible animations. Everything you need to play EoJ comes in the game bundle available at all good retailers. Then you can choose to customise your deck with new cards (sold separately). This is further expanded with Biolith Rebellion Set 2, which includes an extra 100 cards to choose from!
The Eye of Judgment allows both offline play and online play via PLAYSTATION®Network, with gamers challenging each other from across town or across the world. The result is a large online community where players meet in forums to arrange challenges, trade cards and discuss all aspects of the game. For novices and experts alike, there’s no better time to join in the fun. Here’s what’s out there:
Match-organising
If you want to find out how good a player you really are, an online tournament is the answer. Sometimes involving more than 100 players over hundreds of games, these tournaments are organized within the community and include special events such as ‘No Bioliths’ and ‘Beat the Community Moderator’. In Germany, for example, a special league has been set up in conjunction with Hasbro to run monthly competitions, while Sony Computer Entertainment Europe-organised knockout tournaments are proving popular in the Benelux countries. The community also self-polices itself to ensure appropriate behaviour, listing players who commit infractions such as ‘dishonourable disconnection’ – switching their PS3 off when losing a game.
Knowledge-sharing
If you’re wondering what makes the Biolith Bomber card great, or how to use the Novogus Catapult, the answers are just a few clicks away. Unofficial sites such as www.myeoj.com and www.blackcubic.com provide in-depth descriptions and suggestions for the tactical use of the 110 cards currently in circulation. The online community is startlingly up to speed on all the latest The Eye of Judgment news.
Card trading
Trading cards with other players is a big part of the Eye of Judgment experience. Cards can be bought online and in stores - and auction sites are also a good source to find specific cards. However, the online community is a good place to look when you’re after a specific card. The chances are that there’s someone out there who’ll help you with a trade. Many community sites facilitate card trading – just post details of the card you want and you’ll be provided with the email addresses of people who have it and want to trade it.
The new Biolith Rebellion Set 2 expansion pack contains several innovations to make the game more accessible to beginners, including an on-screen explanatory glossary and improved mechanics for finding an online game, making it easier than ever to get into the game.
Enhanced community features will soon be added to PLAYSTATION Network to further strengthen this unique community, with plans for more official tournaments to come. There’s never been a better time to get involved with The Eye of Judgment – it’s available for PS3 now. See www.eyeofjudgment.com to find out more.

Yes, they did.

Why is that always the first comment when someonething about EOJ comes up?
Yes strangely enough some people did, there is an active community.
Just because you don’t play a game doesn’t mean it flopped, that like me saying did anyone really buy GTA4?
Should be a fun tournament, hope to see you in there.

Comment by manley — May 27, 2008 @ 1:53 pm
I have the game too by the way.
Comment by Acme — May 27, 2008 @ 1:55 pm
If I hadn’t put a comment like that nobody would have replied. And the reason it was the first comment is because nobody had posted anything yet.
I didn’t buy “Grand Theft Auto 4″, btw, and I don’t intend to.
I am obviously wrong then. Sorry I upset you.
It just surprises me that a game such as this needs the processing capability of a PS3.
Didn’t the same idea get released in the early 90’s…

As I have your ear, as well as your Eye now, perhaps you would be kind enough to answer a question for me?
Can you use the PLAYSTATION(r)Eye camera as a voice chat medium in online games? Can you switch off the visual component? Or can you, even, use the PS2 EyeToy accessory for the same purpose?
(I don’t like the BlueTooth headset in-ear stuff)
Thanks for your time.

fp.

@fanpages
yes you can use it as a voice chat device.
dont think you can turn the camera off though.
in game does not work as you need an earpiece.
no i dont think the ps2 eyetoy works!
Comment by manley — May 27, 2008 @ 2:16 pm
Thanks Manley.
Does the PS3 Eye need a USB connection, or is it Bluetooth (wireless)? You can just turn the Eye camera around though, presumably, so you don’t have to display video with audio chat.
I’m thinking that if in-game chat (e.g. “Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online”) needs a Bluetooth device I might be able to find a standalone microphone (and just use my TV for audio output).
Odd the PS2 EyeToy doesn’t work though… there’s heaps of PS2 EyeToy games I want to play… no, wait, there are two, no… wait, there are none of them worth playing. I miscounted!
Seriously, though… is there any decent PLAYSTATION(r)Eye camera software at present (other than “The Eye of Judgment”, of course).

fp.
Comment by fanpages — May 27, 2008 @ 2:24 pm
it does need a usb connection sadly!
you wont be able to use your tv as audio out cause you will need to hear sound effects and music of game through that.
and i often turn the camera around when im looking grubby (which in reality is everyday).
its pretty easy to count the good software for the eye toy on one hand if you remove all the fingers and thumbs (not a sausage).
i only use it for chat, oh and earning some extra cash with my fantastic erotic shows i will put on for the right fee!
Comment by manley — May 27, 2008 @ 2:37 pm
D’oh! What a waste of technology. But I guess the PLAYSTATION(r)Eye camera would have been so much more expensive if it did use a wireless/Bluetooth connection.
I feel sorry for those with 40Gb consoles with just 2 USB ports. I ran out of USB ports this weekend with the four on my 60Gb console: a USB keyboard, an external hard drive, a charging cable for a spare controller, and then the “GunCon 3″ for use with “Time Crisis 4″ [or, go on, I'll mention it, the wired microphones for "SingStar" ;)]. Yes, I finally opened my “Time Crisis 4” box this weekend
This aside, I can listen to the audio output of other parties who have voice chat facilities in the Battle Lobby & within matches of “Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online” and the same is true in-game within “Resistance: Fall of Man”.
Shame the audio output of voice-chat cannot be directed to my TV speakers if I have a standalone (USB) microphone.
Oh well, maybe the next-next generation console will support this.
Thanks again for your time.
BFN,
fp.

(Odd… comments #2 & #7 have been posted since my comment of 2:24pm, even though there are timed much earlier! I wonder if this is an issue with the ThreeSpeech web server clock being an hour ahead of UK time)

i think i have found a solution for those that need more usb ports
http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/games/pid/7473298/a/PS3+Vertical+Glow+Stand.htm
i came accross this a while back when i was trying to pimp out my ps3, didnt buy as i dont have the space to stand the console.
tell me what you think?
Comment by manley — May 27, 2008 @ 4:16 pm
@14 (or whatever number it will end up being by the time more comments have jumped in above us)
[Manley]
“…Pimp out”
Couldn’t use just buy a cheap’n'cheerful USB hub from Asda or Tesco & stick it out of sight around the back of the console.
You don’t have to buy this kind of stuff from US-based sites, though. HMV & Game sell there own variants. And probably “other good retailers” too.
That reminds me, though… why, oh why, didn’t Sony put a USB port or two on the back of the PS3 casing? I have unsightly wires hanging down in front of my TV now for the “Time Crisis 4″ sensors.
Even Nintendo thought ahead & put ports on the rear!

I have this game as well

@ fanpages
totaly agree makes no sense what so ever but that is the reason i wanted the docking station, both usb ports are at the rear.
i thought that those usb hubs acted like switches i.e. only one could be used at one time.
also that was the only docking station i could find anywhere that had 2 extra ports.

Blimey, what did my comment sound like?
Sorry people, yesterday was a bad day. I think everything that could go wrong at work did. Ah well.
A standard usb hub should work fine to split one of the PS3’s ports, they do work like switches. You wouldn’t really notice any slow dopwn etc. But why sony didn’t put any USB ports in the back in far beyond my imagination.

How do i actually play this game am deaf theres no subtitles on the tutorial video
and there is no guide with mines (well there is and its in Japanese (imported)). I really want to take part in the tournaments rather than the EOJ getting no use, seems like a waste of money for me, if i use it then it won’t be a waste of money.
Any links will help me?
