Just wanted to add a quick reply on the “delay” of Killzone 2 to Feb 2009. To be clear, there is nothing wrong or causing a delay to the development of the title. We (SECA) had to look at the fall calendar with SOCOM, LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Resistance 2, plus some PSN titles and make a decision where each game should come out. Killzone 2 was moved to Feb 2009 to make sure we didn’t have three shooters in the marketplace competing for retail dollars during the same holiday season. The game will be great and it will be out in Feb 2009 in both Europe and North America.
Hope this helps - alot of times we gamers read delay and think something is wrong, in this case, it was a pure management decision.
This is also available to download from PSN, it’s buried in one of those presentation videos from the press day. Just fast forward past the chap waffling on and view it in all it’s HD glory.

They don’t exactly show you much here do they?! If the action was actually in-game then it looks pretty impressive so far! I’ll be getting it anyways, especially seeing as I missed out on the first iteration!
Considering how bad Killzone 1 is (rated 60/100 by Gamespy), I think I will wait for the reviews before I get too excited about the “second coming” of the halo killer.
This and the gameplay videos released lately have shown the’ve nailed the graphics and it runs smooth, which i think was the main failing with Killzone 1. Think this is gonna be great if they get the gameplay right.
Though the game looks absolutely beautiful, the AI looks decidedly average. Where are the enemies that will throw grenades back like they did in Half Life,
and also I want to see more main characters and enemies flinching when bombs and bullets are flying around. It is in every creature’s instinct to flinch when danger is really close and that is one of the best things Uncharted go right. Then we the gamer sees characters flinching, they feel more empathy towards them.
Oops last sentence should read…
When we, the gamer, see characters flinching, we therefore feel more empathy towards the characters and are thus drawn into game more. More immesion = win.
@15 - You need to keep in mind that all of the recent footage is PRE-ALPHA, so there’s clearly a lot of tweaking to be done. It’s way too early to be finding fault with things like AI.
I hope the gameplay and story are equal to the graphics. I hope this game is tested by some gamers who are not connected to Guerilla or Sony in the near future so that objective feedback can be obtained and necessary changes made if it is lacking. With Haze apparently being a turd we have seen what happens when there is little or no interaction between gamers and developers during development. Please pass this suggestion along to Sony/Guerilla.
Learn the harsh Haze lesson people and give it a wide berth.
They are delaying it until 2009 now aswell by which time it will have missed the FPS popularity boat by a country mile, Haze has missed this boat already and it’s only out today.
Ubisoft need to stop drinking red wine and eating Croissants and their finger out. Even after an extended development time Haze still sucks, vegas two sucks.
They need to get real, gamers want quality games like COD4 if you can’t develop to that standard i say get out and go and develop on wii, they buy any old crap.
I get so annoyed when they hype a game up saying it’s this and that only to find out it’s crap. you charge us £40-50 i expect and frikin fantastic game for that.
Um…you can go ahead and believe that this trailer is all pre-rendered, as long as you understand that this means you must ALSO believe that all of the members of the gaming press who played the game at Gamer’s Day are lying. That’s one hell of a useless conspiracy theory you’ve got going on there.
For the game, I’ll wait and see on gameplay, but there is no doubt (unless you’re Rodge) that this will LOOK amazing come February.
I can’t for a second believe that this will be as bad as HAZE. I’ve never been so disappointed with a game as HAZE. I know it got bad reviews online, but I decided to ignore them and make up my own mind. Just over 8 hours late and I could have cried. What an utter dissapointment! IMO Sony need to clamp down on games developers to ensure that there is some quality put into their games. A console is only as good as the games you can play on it!

I don’t see why they’re not making Afrika for Europe either. Sucks that Sony kicks Europe in the teeth every time. They give us one thing early (recording thing) and then ruin it by taking away other stuff. If Sony can’t get there head around European gamers wanting the SAME consoles and games as other countries then they don’t know anything about customer service.
Why wasn’t SCEE not producing Afrika for europe not reported on this blog? Surely it’s Sony related so this isn’t just a hype spot is it? Produce news and not spin guys, people have already showed they dislike it when people don’t tell them the truth.
Oh yeah and crap vid, looked cool when it was showing the game but they clearly didn’t have much to show or we wouldn’t be watching the name fly around for half the trailer…..and then a quarter at the end. I can see the name on the bleeding title, no need to put that in the trailer for longer than 3 seconds.
Much worse than what they first showed at E3 but I guess it’s picking up atleast.
Eugh..*drowns himself in drool*

And one day we *might* be let to play it.
Given that Haze is C.R.A.P. can we have it back to it’s original date?

@ Ton Capone - I disagree. Since 3D became standard, FPS’s have been one of the most popular genres and I’d argue they always will be.
However, Killzone 2 will have to improve immeasurably on the original to get my bucks…

we need to see some new stuff. That looks like some extra scenes from the E3 2007 Trailer.
As nice as it looks i want to play it before I say its all real time. Even some of the stuff from E3 2007 was fixed up.

@ 29 : It’s definitely real-time. GameTrailers have loads of in-game footage if you want to get your head out of the sand.
